Eph. 1:2 - Grace and peace be multiplied unto you through the knowledge of God, and of Jesus our Lord, 2 Pet. 1:2 4. I thank my God always on your behalf, for the grace of God which is given you by Jesus Christ; - Oh that men would praise the LORD for his goodness, and for his wonderful works to the children of men! Ps. 107:8 - First, I thank my God through Jesus Christ for you all, that your faith is spoken of throughout the whole world. Rom. 1:8 - Cease not to give thanks for you, making mention of you in my prayers; Eph. 1:16 5. Even as the testimony of Christ was confirmed in you: - Who gave himself a ransom for all, to be testified in due time. 1 Tim. 2:6 - Be not thou therefore ashamed of the testimony of our Lord, nor of me his prisoner: but be thou partaker of the afflictions of the gospel according to the power of God; 2 Tim. 1:8 - Who bare record of the word of God, and of the testimony of Jesus Christ, and of all things that he saw. Rev. 1:2 7. So that ye come behind in no gift; waiting for the coming of our Lord Jesus Christ: - Even thus shall it be in the day when the Son of man is revealed. Now I beseech you, brethren, by the name of our Lord Jesus Christ, that ye all speak the same thing, and that there be no divisions among you; but that ye be perfectly joined together in the same mind and in the same judgment. - Be of the same mind one toward another. Mind not high things, but condescend to men of low estate. Be not wise in your own conceits. Rom. 12:16 - Fulfil ye my joy, that ye be likeminded, having the same love, being of one accord, of one mind. Phil. 2:2 - Let us therefore, as many as be perfect, be thus minded: and if in any thing ye be otherwise minded, God shall reveal even this unto you. Phil. 3:15 11. For it hath been declared unto me of you, my brethren, by them which are of the house of Chloe, that there are contentions among you. - When therefore Paul and Barnabas had no small dissension and disputation with them, they determined that Paul and Barnabas, and certain other of them, should go up to Jerusalem unto the apostles and elders about this question. Acts 15:2 - For ye are yet carnal: for whereas there is among you envying, and strife, and divisions, are ye not carnal, and walk as men? 1 Cor. 3:3 - For first of all, when ye come together in the church, I hear that there be divisions among you; and I partly believe it. 1 Cor. 11:18 12. Now this I say, that every one of you saith, I am of Paul; and I of Apollos; and I of Cephas; and I of Christ. - And he brought him to Jesus. And when Jesus beheld him, he said, Thou art Simon the son of Jona: thou shalt be called Cephas, which is by interpretation, A stone. Acts 18:24 - For while one saith, I am of Paul; and another, I am of Apollos; are ye not carnal? 1 Cor. 3:4 13. Is Christ divided? was Paul crucified for you? or were ye baptized in the name of Paul? - Go ye therefore, and teach all nations, baptizing them in the name of the Father, and of the Son, and of the Holy Ghost: Matt. 28:19 - Then Peter said unto them, Repent, and be baptized every one of you in the name of Jesus Christ for the remission of sins, and ye shall receive the gift of the Holy Ghost. Acts 2:38 - And he commanded them to be baptized in the name of the Lord. Then prayed they him to tarry certain days. Acts 10:48 14. Lest any should say that I had baptized in mine own name. - Ye yourselves bear me witness, that I said, I am not the Christ, but that I am sent before him. John 7:18 - For I am jealous over you with godly jealousy: for I have espoused you to one husband, that I may present you as a chaste virgin to Christ. 2 Cor. 11:2 16. And I baptized also the household of Stephanas: besides, I know not whether I baptized any other. - And when she was baptized, and her household, she besought us, saying, If ye have judged me to be faithful to the Lord, come into my house, and abide there. And she constrained us. For Christ sent me not to baptize, but to preach the gospel: not with wisdom of words, lest the cross of Christ should be made of none effect. - And I, brethren, when I came to you, came not with excellency of speech or of wisdom, declaring unto you the testimony of God. 1 Cor. 2:1 - Which things also we speak, not in the words which man's wisdom teacheth, but which the Holy Ghost teacheth; comparing spiritual things with spiritual. 1 Cor. 2:13 - To reveal his Son in me, that I might preach him among the heathen; immediately I conferred not with flesh and blood: Gal. 1:16 18. For the preaching of the cross is to them that perish foolishness; but unto us which are saved it is the power of God. - And when they heard of the resurrection of the dead, some mocked: and others said, We will hear thee again of this matter. Rom. 1:16 - But the natural man receiveth not the things of the Spirit of God: for they are foolishness unto him: neither can he know them, because they are spiritually discerned. 1 Cor. 2:14 19. For it is written, I will destroy the wisdom of the wise, and will bring to nothing the understanding of the prudent. - He taketh the wise in their own craftiness: and the counsel of the froward is carried headlong. Job 5:13 - Therefore, behold, I will proceed to do a marvellous work among this people, even a marvellous work and a wonder: for the wisdom of their wise men shall perish, and the understanding of their prudent men shall be hid. Isa. 29:14 - The wise men are ashamed, they are dismayed and taken: lo, they have rejected the word of the LORD; and what wisdom is in them? Jer. 8:9 20. Job 12:17 - Professing themselves to be wise, they became fools, Rom. 1:22 - For ye see your calling, brethren, how that not many wise men after the flesh, not many mighty, not many noble, are called: 1 Cor. 1:26 21. For after that in the wisdom of God the world by wisdom knew not God, it pleased God by the foolishness of preaching to save them that believe. - At that time Jesus answered and said, I thank thee, O Father, Lord of heaven and earth, because thou hast hid these things from the wise and prudent, and hast revealed them unto babes. Matt. 11:25 - Because that, when they knew God, they glorified him not as God, neither were thankful; but became vain in their imaginations, and their foolish heart was darkened. Rom. 1:21 - But God hath chosen the foolish things of the world to confound the wise; and God hath chosen the weak things of the world to confound the things which are mighty; 1 Cor. 1:27 22. Matt. 16:1 - (For all the Athenians and strangers which were there spent their time in nothing else, but either to tell, or to hear some new thing.) Acts 17:21 23. But we preach Christ crucified, unto the Jews a stumblingblock, and unto the Greeks foolishness; - And he shall be for a sanctuary; but for a stone of stumbling and for a rock of offence to both the houses of Israel, for a gin and for a snare to the inhabitants of Jerusalem. Isa. 8:14 - And Simeon blessed them, and said unto Mary his mother, Behold, this child is set for the fall and rising again of many in Israel; and for a sign which shall be spoken against; Luke 2:34 - And I, brethren, if I yet preach circumcision, why do I yet suffer persecution? then is the offence of the cross ceased. Gal. 5:11 24. But unto them which are called, both Jews and Greeks, Christ the power of God, and the wisdom of God. - For I am not ashamed of the gospel of Christ: for it is the power of God unto salvation to every one that believeth; to the Jew first, and also to the Greek. Rom. 1:16 - For the preaching of the cross is to them that perish foolishness; but unto us which are saved it is the power of God. 1 Cor. 1:18 - In whom are hid all the treasures of wisdom and knowledge. Because the foolishness of God is wiser than men; and the weakness of God is stronger than men. - And it came to pass, when Pharaoh had let the people go, that God led them not through the way of the land of the Philistines, although that was near; for God said, Lest peradventure the people repent when they see war, and they return to Egypt: Ex. 13:17 - Hast thou not known? hast thou not heard, that the everlasting God, the LORD, the Creator of the ends of the earth, fainteth not, neither is weary? there is no searching of his understanding. Zeph. 3:12 - At that time Jesus answered and said, I thank thee, O Father, Lord of heaven and earth, because thou hast hid these things from the wise and prudent, and hast revealed them unto babes. Matt. 11:25 - Hearken, my beloved brethren, Hath not God chosen the poor of this world rich in faith, and heirs of the kingdom which he hath promised to them that love him? James 2:5 27. But God hath chosen the foolish things of the world to confound the wise; and God hath chosen the weak things of the world to confound the things which are mighty; - Out of the mouth of babes and sucklings hast thou ordained strength because of thine enemies, that thou mightest still the enemy and the avenger. Ps. 8:2 - So that servant came, and shewed his lord these things. Then the master of the house being angry said to his servant, Go out quickly into the streets and lanes of the city, and bring in hither the poor, and the maimed, and the halt, and the blind. Luke 14:21 - Where is the wise? where is the scribe? where is the disputer of this world? hath not God made foolish the wisdom of this world? 1 Cor. 1:20 28. And base things of the world, and things which are despised, hath God chosen, yea, and things which are not, to bring to nought things that are: - He shall break in pieces mighty men without number, and set others in their stead. Job 34:24 - Behold, I have made thee small among the heathen: thou art greatly despised. Obad. 1:2 - (As it is written, I have made thee a father of many nations,) before him whom he believed, even God, who quickeneth the dead, and calleth those things which be not as though they were. Rom. 4:17 29. That no flesh should glory in his presence. - Shall the axe boast itself against him that heweth therewith? or shall the saw magnify itself against him that shaketh it? as if the rod should shake itself against them that lift it up, or as if the staff should lift up itself, as if it were no wood. Isa. 10:15 - Where is boasting then? It is excluded. By what law? of works? Nay: but by the law of faith. Rom. 3:27 - Not of works, lest any man should boast. Eph. 2:9 30. But of him are ye in Christ Jesus, who of God is made unto us wisdom, and righteousness, and sanctification, and redemption: - Who was delivered for our offences, and was raised again for our justification. Rom. 4:25 - For he hath made him to be sin for us, who knew no sin; that we might be made the righteousness of God in him. 2 Cor. 5:21 - In whom are hid all the treasures of wisdom and knowledge. Jer. 9:24 - But he that glorieth, let him glory in the Lord. 2 Cor. 10:17 |
