Be ye followers of me, even as I also am of Christ. - Wherefore I beseech you, be ye followers of me. 1 Cor. 4:16 - Brethren, be followers together of me, and mark them which walk so as ye have us for an ensample. Phil. 3:17 - Not because we have not power, but to make ourselves an ensample unto you to follow us. 2 Thess. 3:9 2. Now I praise you, brethren, that ye remember me in all things, and keep the ordinances, as I delivered them to you. - For this cause have I sent unto you Timotheus, who is my beloved son, and faithful in the Lord, who shall bring you into remembrance of my ways which be in Christ, as I teach every where in every church. 1 Cor. 4:17 - Now in this that I declare unto you I praise you not, that ye come together not for the better, but for the worse. 1 Cor. 11:17 - Therefore, brethren, stand fast, and hold the traditions which ye have been taught, whether by word, or our epistle. 2 Thess. 2:15 3. But I would have you know, that the head of every man is Christ; and the head of the woman is the man; and the head of Christ is God. - Unto the woman he said, I will greatly multiply thy sorrow and thy conception; in sorrow thou shalt bring forth children; and thy desire shall be to thy husband, and he shall rule over thee. Gen. 3:16 - And when all things shall be subdued unto him, then shall the Son also himself be subject unto him that put all things under him, that God may be all in all. 1 Cor. 15:28 - For the husband is the head of the wife, even as Christ is the head of the church: and he is the saviour of the body. But every woman that prayeth or prophesieth with her head uncovered dishonoureth her head: for that is even all one as if she were shaven. - And it shall come to pass afterward, that I will pour out my spirit upon all flesh; and your sons and your daughters shall prophesy, your old men shall dream dreams, your young men shall see visions: Joel 2:28 - And there was one Anna, a prophetess, the daughter of Phanuel, of the tribe of Aser: she was of a great age, and had lived with an husband seven years from her virginity; Luke 2:36 - And the same man had four daughters, virgins, which did prophesy. For if the woman be not covered, let her also be shorn: but if it be a shame for a woman to be shorn or shaven, let her be covered. - And the priest shall set the woman before the LORD, and uncover the woman's head, and put the offering of memorial in her hands, which is the jealousy offering: and the priest shall have in his hand the bitter water that causeth the curse: Num. 5:18 - Then thou shalt bring her home to thine house, and she shall shave her head, and pare her nails; Deut. 21:12 - The woman shall not wear that which pertaineth unto a man, neither shall a man put on a woman's garment: for all that do so are abomination unto the LORD thy God. Deut. 22:5 7. For a man indeed ought not to cover his head, forasmuch as he is the image and glory of God: but the woman is the glory of the man. - And God said, Let us make man in our image, after our likeness: and let them have dominion over the fish of the sea, and over the fowl of the air, and over the cattle, and over all the earth, and over every creeping thing that creepeth upon the earth. Gen. 1:26 - This is the book of the generations of Adam. In the day that God created man, in the likeness of God made he him; Gen. 5:1 - Whoso sheddeth man's blood, by man shall his blood be shed: for in the image of God made he man. Gen. 9:6 8. For the man is not of the woman: but the woman of the man. - And the LORD God caused a deep sleep to fall upon Adam, and he slept: and he took one of his ribs, and closed up the flesh instead thereof; Gen. 2:21 - And the rib, which the LORD God had taken from man, made he a woman, and brought her unto the man. Gen. 2:22 - For Adam was first formed, then Eve. 1 Tim. 2:13 9. Neither was the man created for the woman; but the woman for the man. - And the LORD God said, It is not good that the man should be alone; I will make him an help meet for him. Gen. 2:18 - And Adam gave names to all cattle, and to the fowl of the air, and to every beast of the field; but for Adam there was not found an help meet for him. Gen. 2:20 - And Adam said, This is now bone of my bones, and flesh of my flesh: she shall be called Woman, because she was taken out of Man. Gen. 2:23 10. For this cause ought the woman to have power on her head because of the angels. - For she had said unto the servant, What man is this that walketh in the field to meet us? And the servant had said, It is my master: therefore she took a vail, and covered herself. Gen. 24:65 - Take heed that ye despise not one of these little ones; for I say unto you, That in heaven their angels do always behold the face of my Father which is in heaven. Matt. 18:10 - For I think that God hath set forth us the apostles last, as it were appointed to death: for we are made a spectacle unto the world, and to angels, and to men. 1 Cor. 4:9 11. Nevertheless neither is the man without the woman, neither the woman without the man, in the Lord. - And unto the married I command, yet not I, but the Lord, Let not the wife depart from her husband: 1 Cor. 7:10 - For by one Spirit are we all baptized into one body, whether we be Jews or Gentiles, whether we be bond or free; and have been all made to drink into one Spirit. 1 Cor. 12:13 - There is neither Jew nor Greek, there is neither bond nor free, there is neither male nor female: for ye are all one in Christ Jesus. Gal. 3:28 12. For as the woman is of the man, even so is the man also by the woman; but all things of God. - For of him, and through him, and to him, are all things: to whom be glory for ever. Amen. Rom. 11:36 - But to us there is but one God, the Father, of whom are all things, and we in him; and one Lord Jesus Christ, by whom are all things, and we by him. 1 Cor. 8:6 - And all things are of God, who hath reconciled us to himself by Jesus Christ, and hath given to us the ministry of reconciliation; 2 Cor. 5:18 13. Judge in yourselves: is it comely that a woman pray unto God uncovered? - Yea, and why even of yourselves judge ye not what is right? Luke 12:57 - Judge not according to the appearance, but judge righteous judgment. John 7:24 - I speak as to wise men; judge ye what I say. 1 Cor. 10:15 14. Doth not even nature itself teach you, that, if a man have long hair, it is a shame unto him? - All the days of the vow of his separation there shall no razor come upon his head: until the days be fulfilled, in the which he separateth himself unto the LORD, he shall be holy, and shall let the locks of the hair of his head grow. Num. 6:5 - And when he polled his head, (for it was at every year's end that he polled it: because the hair was heavy on him, therefore he polled it:) he weighed the hair of his head at two hundred shekels after the king's weight. 2 Sam. 14:26 - And if they will learn any thing, let them ask their husbands at home: for it is a shame for women to speak in the church. 1 Cor. 14:35 15. But if a woman have long hair, it is a glory to her: for her hair is given her for a covering. - For she had said unto the servant, What man is this that walketh in the field to meet us? But if any man seem to be contentious, we have no such custom, neither the churches of God. - But as God hath distributed to every man, as the Lord hath called every one, so let him walk. And so ordain I in all churches. 1 Cor. 7:17 - For God is not the author of confusion, but of peace, as in all churches of the saints. 1 Cor. 14:33 - He is proud, knowing nothing, but doting about questions and strifes of words, whereof cometh envy, strife, railings, evil surmisings, 1 Tim. 6:4 17. And the rest will I set in order when I come. 1 Cor. 11:34 18. For first of all, when ye come together in the church, I hear that there be divisions among you; and I partly believe it. - Be of the same mind one toward another. Mind not high things, but condescend to men of low estate. Be not wise in your own conceits. Rom. 12:16 - Now I beseech you, brethren, by the name of our Lord Jesus Christ, that ye all speak the same thing, and that there be no divisions among you; but that ye be perfectly joined together in the same mind and in the same judgment. 1 Cor. 1:10 - For ye are yet carnal: for whereas there is among you envying, and strife, and divisions, are ye not carnal, and walk as men? 1 Cor. 3:3 19. For there must be also heresies among you, that they which are approved may be made manifest among you. - Also of your own selves shall men arise, speaking perverse things, to draw away disciples after them. Acts 20:30 - Now this I say, that every one of you saith, I am of Paul; and I of Apollos; and I of Cephas; and I of Christ. 1 Cor. 1:12 - They went out from us, but they were not of us; for if they had been of us, they would no doubt have continued with us: but they went out, that they might be made manifest that they were not all of us. 1 John 2:19 20. When ye come together therefore into one place, this is not to eat the Lord's supper. - And they, continuing daily with one accord in the temple, and breaking bread from house to house, did eat their meat with gladness and singleness of heart, Acts 2:46 - And upon the first day of the week, when the disciples came together to break bread, Paul preached unto them, ready to depart on the morrow; and continued his speech until midnight. Acts 20:7 - Wherefore whosoever shall eat this bread, and drink this cup of the Lord, unworthily, shall be guilty of the body and blood of the Lord. 1 Cor. 11:27 21. For in eating every one taketh before other his own supper: and one is hungry, and another is drunken. - The cup of blessing which we bless, is it not the communion of the blood of Christ? The bread which we break, is it not the communion of the body of Christ? 1 Cor. 10:16 - And shall receive the reward of unrighteousness, as they that count it pleasure to riot in the day time. Spots they are and blemishes, sporting themselves with their own deceivings while they feast with you; 2 Pet. 2:13 - These are spots in your feasts of charity, when they feast with you, feeding themselves without fear: clouds they are without water, carried about of winds; trees whose fruit withereth, without fruit, twice dead, plucked up by the roots; Jude 1:12 22. What? have ye not houses to eat and to drink in? or despise ye the church of God, and shame them that have not? What shall I say to you? shall I praise you in this? I praise you not. - Whoso mocketh the poor reproacheth his Maker: and he that is glad at calamities shall not be unpunished. Prov. 17:5 - Give none offence, neither to the Jews, nor to the Gentiles, nor to the church of God: 1 Cor. 10:32 - But ye have despised the poor. Do not rich men oppress you, and draw you before the judgment seats? James 2:6 23. For I have received of the Lord that which also I delivered unto you, That the Lord Jesus the same night in which he was betrayed took bread: - And as they were eating, Jesus took bread, and blessed it, and brake it, and gave it to the disciples, and said, Take, eat; this is my body. Matt. 26:26 - For I delivered unto you first of all that which I also received, how that Christ died for our sins according to the scriptures; 1 Cor. 15:3 - For I neither received it of man, neither was I taught it, but by the revelation of Jesus Christ. Gal. 1:12 24. And when he had given thanks, he brake it, and said, Take, eat: this is my body, which is broken for you: this do in remembrance of me. - Then ye shall answer them, That the waters of Jordan were cut off before the ark of the covenant of the LORD; when it passed over Jordan, the waters of Jordan were cut off: and these stones shall be for a memorial unto the children of Israel for ever. Josh. 4:7 - He that eateth my flesh, and drinketh my blood, dwelleth in me, and I in him. John 6:56 - For we being many are one bread, and one body: for we are all partakers of that one bread. 1 Cor. 10:17 25. After the same manner also he took the cup, when he had supped, saying, This cup is the new testament in my blood: this do ye, as oft as ye drink it, in remembrance of me. - Behold, the days come, saith the LORD, that I will make a new covenant with the house of Israel, and with the house of Judah: Jer. 31:31 - Whoso eateth my flesh, and drinketh my blood, hath eternal life; and I will raise him up at the last day. John 6:54 - The cup of blessing which we bless, is it not the communion of the blood of Christ? The bread which we break, is it not the communion of the body of Christ? 1 Cor. 10:16 26. For as often as ye eat this bread, and drink this cup, ye do shew the Lord's death till he come. - And if I go and prepare a place for you, I will come again, and receive you unto myself; that where I am, there ye may be also. John 14:3 - Which also said, Ye men of Galilee, why stand ye gazing up into heaven? this same Jesus, which is taken up from you into heaven, shall so come in like manner as ye have seen him go into heaven. Acts 1:11 - Therefore judge nothing before the time, until the Lord come, who both will bring to light the hidden things of darkness, and will make manifest the counsels of the hearts: and then shall every man have praise of God. 1 Cor. 4:5 27. Wherefore whosoever shall eat this bread, and drink this cup of the Lord, unworthily, shall be guilty of the body and blood of the Lord. - But the man that is clean, and is not in a journey, and forbeareth to keep the passover, even the same soul shall be cut off from among his people: because he brought not the offering of the LORD in his appointed season, that man shall bear his sin. Num. 9:13 - For a multitude of the people, even many of Ephraim, and Manasseh, Issachar, and Zebulun, had not cleansed themselves, yet did they eat the passover otherwise than it was written. But Hezekiah prayed for them, saying, The good LORD pardon every one 2 Chron. 30:18 - Of how much sorer punishment, suppose ye, shall he be thought worthy, who hath trodden under foot the Son of God, and hath counted the blood of the covenant, wherewith he was sanctified, an unholy thing, and hath done despite unto the Spirit of grace? Heb. 10:29 28. But let a man examine himself, and so let him eat of that bread, and drink of that cup. - Examine me, O LORD, and prove me; try my reins and my heart. Ps. 26:2 - Let us search and try our ways, and turn again to the LORD. Lam. 3:40 - Examine yourselves, whether ye be in the faith; prove your own selves. Know ye not your own selves, how that Jesus Christ is in you, except ye be reprobates? 2 Cor. 13:5 29. For this cause many are weak and sickly among you, and many sleep. - And said, If thou wilt diligently hearken to the voice of the LORD thy God, and wilt do that which is right in his sight, and wilt give ear to his commandments, and keep all his statutes, I will put none of these diseases upon thee, which I have brought upon the Egyptians: for I am the LORD that healeth thee. Ex. 15:26 - And the LORD spake unto Moses and Aaron, Because ye believed me not, to sanctify me in the eyes of the children of Israel, therefore ye shall not bring this congregation into the land which I have given them. Num. 20:12 - Aaron shall be gathered unto his people: for he shall not enter into the land which I have given unto the children of Israel, because ye rebelled against my word at the water of Meribah. Num. 20:24 31. For if we would judge ourselves, we should not be judged. - I acknowledge my sin unto thee, and mine iniquity have I not hid. I said, I will confess my transgressions unto the LORD; and thou forgavest the iniquity of my sin. Selah. Ps. 32:5 - Examine yourselves, whether ye be in the faith; prove your own selves. Know ye not your own selves, how that Jesus Christ is in you, except ye be reprobates? 2 Cor. 13:5 - If we confess our sins, he is faithful and just to forgive us our sins, and to cleanse us from all unrighteousness. 1 John 1:9 32. But when we are judged, we are chastened of the Lord, that we should not be condemned with the world. - Thou shalt also consider in thine heart, that, as a man chasteneth his son, so the LORD thy God chasteneth thee. Deut. 8:5 - Behold, happy is the man whom God correcteth: therefore despise not thou the chastening of the Almighty: Job 5:17 - For whom the Lord loveth he chasteneth, and scourgeth every son whom he receiveth.
