↥ 1 Cor. 12NT with xrefs 1. Now concerning spiritual gifts, brethren, I would not have you ignorant. - Having then gifts differing according to the grace that is given to us, whether prophecy, let us prophesy according to the proportion of faith; Rom. 12:6 - Moreover, brethren, I would not that ye should be ignorant, how that all our fathers were under the cloud, and all passed through the sea; 1 Cor. 10:1 - Follow after charity, and desire spiritual gifts, but rather that ye may prophesy. 1 Cor. 14:1 2. Ye know that ye were Gentiles, carried away unto these dumb idols, even as ye were led. - They have mouths, but they speak not: eyes have they, but they see not: Ps. 115:5 - Woe unto him that saith to the wood, Awake; to the dumb stone, Arise, it shall teach! Behold, it is laid over with gold and silver, and there is no breath at all in the midst of it. Hab. 2:19 - For they themselves shew of us what manner of entering in we had unto you, and how ye turned to God from idols to serve the living and true God; 1 Thess. 1:9 3. Wherefore I give you to understand, that no man speaking by the Spirit of God calleth Jesus accursed: and that no man can say that Jesus is the Lord, but by the Holy Ghost. - And Jesus answered and said unto him, Blessed art thou, Simon Barjona: for flesh and blood hath not revealed it unto thee, but my Father which is in heaven. Matt. 16:17 - But Jesus said, Forbid him not: for there is no man which shall do a miracle in my name, that can lightly speak evil of me. Mark 9:39 - Hereby know ye the Spirit of God: Every spirit that confesseth that Jesus Christ is come in the flesh is of God: 1 John 4:2 4. Now there are diversities of gifts, but the same Spirit. - Having then gifts differing according to the grace that is given to us, whether prophecy, let us prophesy according to the proportion of faith; Rom. 12:6 - There is one body, and one Spirit, even as ye are called in one hope of your calling; Eph. 4:4 - As every man hath received the gift, even so minister the same one to another, as good stewards of the manifold grace of God. 1 Pet. 4:10 5. And there are differences of administrations, but the same Lord. - And God hath set some in the church, first apostles, secondarily prophets, thirdly teachers, after that miracles, then gifts of healings, helps, governments, diversities of tongues. 1 Cor. 12:28 - And he gave some, apostles; and some, prophets; and some, evangelists; and some, pastors and teachers; Eph. 4:11 - Jesus Christ the same yesterday, and to day, and for ever. Heb. 13:8 6. And there are diversities of operations, but it is the same God which worketh all in all. - And what is the exceeding greatness of his power to us-ward who believe, according to the working of his mighty power, Eph. 1:19 - One God and Father of all, who is above all, and through all, and in you all. Eph. 4:6 - Whereunto I also labour, striving according to his working, which worketh in me mightily. Col. 1:29 7. But the manifestation of the Spirit is given to every man to profit withal. - Having then gifts differing according to the grace that is given to us, whether prophecy, let us prophesy according to the proportion of faith; Rom. 12:6 - I would that ye all spake with tongues but rather that ye prophesied: for greater is he that prophesieth than he that speaketh with tongues, except he interpret, that the church may receive edifying. 1 Cor. 14:5 - How is it then, brethren? when ye come together, every one of you hath a psalm, hath a doctrine, hath a tongue, hath a revelation, hath an interpretation. Let all things be done unto edifying. 1 Cor. 14:26 8. For to one is given by the Spirit the word of wisdom; to another the word of knowledge by the same Spirit; - And Pharaoh said unto Joseph, Forasmuch as God hath showed thee all this, there is none so discreet and wise as thou art: Gen. 41:39 - For the LORD giveth wisdom: out of his mouth cometh knowledge and understanding. Prov. 2:6 - But Peter said, Ananias, why hath Satan filled thine heart to lie to the Holy Ghost, and to keep back part of the price of the land? Acts 5:3 9. To another faith by the same Spirit; to another the gifts of healing by the same Spirit; - Then came the disciples to Jesus apart, and said, Why could not we cast him out? Matt. 17:19 - And though I have the gift of prophecy, and understand all mysteries, and all knowledge; and though I have all faith, so that I could remove mountains, and have not charity, I am nothing. 1 Cor. 13:2 - We having the same spirit of faith, according as it is written, I believed, and therefore have I spoken; we also believe, and therefore speak; 2 Cor. 4:13 10. To another the working of miracles; to another prophecy; to another discerning of spirits; to another divers kinds of tongues; to another the interpretation of tongues: - And these signs shall follow them that believe; In my name shall they cast out devils; they shall speak with new tongues; Mark 16:17 - Wherefore, brethren, covet to prophesy, and forbid not to speak with tongues. 1 Cor. 14:39 - Beloved, believe not every spirit, but try the spirits whether they are of God: because many false prophets are gone out into the world. 1 John 4:1 11. But all these worketh that one and the selfsame Spirit, dividing to every man severally as he will. - For I would that all men were even as I myself. But every man hath his proper gift of God, one after this manner, and another after that. 1 Cor. 7:7 - Now there are diversities of gifts, but the same Spirit. 1 Cor. 12:4 - God also bearing them witness, both with signs and wonders, and with divers miracles, and gifts of the Holy Ghost, according to his own will? Heb. 2:4 12. For as the body is one, and hath many members, and all the members of that one body, being many, are one body: so also is Christ. - So we, being many, are one body in Christ, and every one members one of another. Eph. 4:16 13. For by one Spirit are we all baptized into one body, whether we be Jews or Gentiles, whether we be bond or free; and have been all made to drink into one Spirit. - There is neither Jew nor Greek, there is neither bond nor free, there is neither male nor female: for ye are all one in Christ Jesus. If the foot shall say, Because I am not the hand, I am not of the body; is it therefore not of the body? - But the olive tree said unto them, Should I leave my fatness, wherewith by me they honor God and man, and go to be promoted over the trees? Judg. 9:9 - And Jehoash the king of Israel sent to Amaziah king of Judah, saying, The thistle that was in Lebanon sent to the cedar that was in Lebanon, saying, Give thy daughter to my son to wife: and there passed by a wild beast that was in Lebanon, and trode down the thistle. 2 Kings 14:9 - And the eye cannot say unto the hand, I have no need of thee: nor again the head to the feet, I have no need of you. 1 Cor. 12:21 16. And if the ear shall say, Because I am not the eye, I am not of the body; is it therefore not of the body? - For I say, through the grace given unto me, to every man that is among you, not to think of himself more highly than he ought to think; but to think soberly, according as God hath dealt to every man the measure of faith. Rom. 12:3 - Be kindly affectioned one to another with brotherly love; in honour preferring one another; Rom. 12:10 - Nay, much more those members of the body, which seem to be more feeble, are necessary: 1 Cor. 12:22 17. Ps. 94:9 - The hearing ear, and the seeing eye, the LORD hath made even both of them. Prov. 20:12 - Jesus said, Take ye away the stone. Martha, the sister of him that was dead, saith unto him, Lord, by this time he stinketh: for he hath been dead four days. John 11:39 18. But now hath God set the members every one of them in the body, as it hath pleased him. - Nay but, O man, who art thou that repliest against God? Shall the thing formed say to him that formed it, Why hast thou made me thus?
