Though I speak with the tongues of men and of angels, and have not charity, I am become as sounding brass, or a tinkling cymbal. - Then shall he answer them, saying, Verily I say unto you, Inasmuch as ye did it not to one of the least of these, ye did it not to me. Matt. 25:45 - To another the working of miracles; to another prophecy; to another discerning of spirits; to another divers kinds of tongues; to another the interpretation of tongues: 1 Cor. 12:10 - For he that speaketh in an unknown tongue speaketh not unto men, but unto God: for no man understandeth him; howbeit in the spirit he speaketh mysteries. 1 Cor. 14:2 2. And though I have the gift of prophecy, and understand all mysteries, and all knowledge; and though I have all faith, so that I could remove mountains, and have not charity, I am nothing. - And Jesus said unto them, Because of your unbelief: for verily I say unto you, If ye have faith as a grain of mustard seed, ye shall say unto this mountain, Remove hence to yonder place; and it shall remove; and nothing shall be impossible unto you. Matt. 17:20 - For to one is given by the Spirit the word of wisdom; to another the word of knowledge by the same Spirit; 1 Cor. 12:8 - To another faith by the same Spirit; to another the gifts of healing by the same Spirit; 1 Cor. 12:9 3. And though I bestow all my goods to feed the poor, and though I give my body to be burned, and have not charity, it profiteth me nothing. - Take heed that ye do not your alms before men, to be seen of them: otherwise ye have no reward of your Father which is in heaven. Matt. 6:1 - Now when Jesus heard these things, he said unto him, Yet lackest thou one thing: sell all that thou hast, and distribute unto the poor, and thou shalt have treasure in heaven: and come, follow me. Luke 18:22 - Let nothing be done through strife or vainglory; but in lowliness of mind let each esteem other better than themselves. Phil. 2:3 4. Charity suffereth long, and is kind; charity envieth not; charity vaunteth not itself, is not puffed up, - But the fruit of the Spirit is love, joy, peace, longsuffering, gentleness, goodness, faith, Gal. 5:22 - Put on therefore, as the elect of God, holy and beloved, bowels of mercies, kindness, humbleness of mind, meekness, longsuffering; Col. 3:12 - But the wisdom that is from above is first pure, then peaceable, gentle, and easy to be intreated, full of mercy and good fruits, without partiality, and without hypocrisy. James 3:17 5. Doth not behave itself unseemly, seeketh not her own, is not easily provoked, thinketh no evil; - Let no man seek his own, but every man another's wealth. 1 Cor. 10:24 - Even as I please all men in all things, not seeking mine own profit, but the profit of many, that they may be saved. 1 Cor. 10:33 - Look not every man on his own things, but every man also on the things of others. Phil. 2:4 6. Rejoiceth not in iniquity, but rejoiceth in the truth; - I rejoiced greatly that I found of thy children walking in truth, as we have received a commandment from the Father. 2 John 1:4 - Having many things to write unto you, I would not write with paper and ink: but I trust to come unto you, and speak face to face, that our joy may be full. 2 John 1:12 - I have no greater joy than to hear that my children walk in truth. 3 John 1:4 7. Beareth all things, believeth all things, hopeth all things, endureth all things. - And Jacob served seven years for Rachel; and they seemed unto him but a few days, for the love he had to her. Gen. 29:20 - Set me as a seal upon thine heart, as a seal upon thine arm: for love is strong as death; jealousy is cruel as the grave: the coals thereof are coals of fire, which hath a most vehement flame. Song 8:6 - And above all things have fervent charity among yourselves: for charity shall cover the multitude of sins. 1 Pet. 4:8 8. Charity never faileth: but whether there be prophecies, they shall fail; whether there be tongues, they shall cease; whether there be knowledge, it shall vanish away. - And they were all filled with the Holy Ghost, and began to speak with other tongues, as the Spirit gave them utterance. For we know in part, and we prophesy in part. - Canst thou by searching find out God? canst thou find out the Almighty unto perfection? Job 11:7 - And if any man think that he knoweth any thing, he knoweth nothing yet as he ought to know. 1 Cor. 8:2 - For if a man think himself to be something, when he is nothing, he deceiveth himself. Gal. 6:3 10. But when that which is perfect is come, then that which is in part shall be done away. - For this corruptible must put on incorruption, and this mortal must put on immortality. 1 Cor. 15:53 - But we have this treasure in earthen vessels, that the excellency of the power may be of God, and not of us. 2 Cor. 4:7 - Beloved, now are we the sons of God, and it doth not yet appear what we shall be: but we know that, when he shall appear, we shall be like him; for we shall see him as he is. 1 John 3:2 11. When I was a child, I spake as a child, I understood as a child, I thought as a child: but when I became a man, I put away childish things. - And be not conformed to this world: but be ye transformed by the renewing of your mind, that ye may prove what is that good, and acceptable, and perfect, will of God. Rom. 12:2 - For your obedience is come abroad unto all men. I am glad therefore on your behalf: but yet I would have you wise unto that which is good, and simple concerning evil. Rom. 16:19 - Brethren, be not children in understanding: howbeit in malice be ye children, but in understanding be men. 1 Cor. 14:20 12. For now we see through a glass, darkly; but then face to face: now I know in part; but then shall I know even as also I am known. - But we all, with open face beholding as in a glass the glory of the Lord, are changed into the same image from glory to glory, even as by the Spirit of the Lord. 2 Cor. 3:18 - Beloved, now are we the sons of God, and it doth not yet appear what we shall be: but we know that, when he shall appear, we shall be like him; for we shall see him as he is. 1 John 3:2 - And they shall see his face; and his name shall be in their foreheads. Rev. 22:4 13. And now abideth faith, hope, charity, these three; but the greatest of these is charity. - For in Jesus Christ neither circumcision availeth any thing, nor uncircumcision; but faith which worketh by love. Gal. 5:6 - Remembering without ceasing your work of faith, and labour of love, and patience of hope in our Lord Jesus Christ, in the sight of God and our Father; 1 Thess. 1:3 - But let us, who are of the day, be sober, putting on the breastplate of faith and love; and for an helmet, the hope of salvation. 1 Thess. 5:8 |
