Am I not an apostle? am I not free? have I not seen Jesus Christ our Lord? are not ye my work in the Lord? - And Ananias went his way, and entered into the house; and putting his hands on him said, Brother Saul, the Lord, even Jesus, that appeared unto thee in the way as thou camest, hath sent me, that thou mightest receive thy sight, and be filled with the Holy Ghost. Acts 9:17 - I have planted, Apollos watered; but God gave the increase. 1 Cor. 3:6 - For though ye have ten thousand instructers in Christ, yet have ye not many fathers: for in Christ Jesus I have begotten you through the gospel. 1 Cor. 4:15 2. If I be not an apostle unto others, yet doubtless I am to you: for the seal of mine apostleship are ye in the Lord. - For I will not dare to speak of any of those things which Christ hath not wrought by me, to make the Gentiles obedient, by word and deed, Rom. 15:18 - Ye are our epistle written in our hearts, known and read of all men: 2 Cor. 3:2 - Truly the signs of an apostle were wrought among you in all patience, in signs, and wonders, and mighty deeds. 2 Cor. 12:12 3. Who goeth a warfare any time at his own charges? who planteth a vineyard, and eateth not of the fruit thereof? or who feedeth a flock, and eateth not of the milk of the flock? - And what man is he that hath planted a vineyard, and hath not yet eaten of it? let him also go and return unto his house, lest he die in the battle, and another man eat of it. Deut. 20:6 - Whoso keepeth the fig tree shall eat the fruit thereof: so he that waiteth on his master shall be honoured. Prov. 27:18 - The husbandman that laboureth must be first partaker of the fruits. 2 Tim. 2:6 8. Say I these things as a man? or saith not the law the same also? - For when the Gentiles, which have not the law, do by nature the things contained in the law, these, having not the law, are a law unto themselves: Rom. 2:14 - I speak after the manner of men because of the infirmity of your flesh: for as ye have yielded your members servants to uncleanness and to iniquity unto iniquity; even so now yield your members servants to righteousness unto holiness. Rom. 6:19 - Brethren, I speak after the manner of men; Though it be but a man's covenant, yet if it be confirmed, no man disannulleth, or addeth thereto. Gal. 3:15 9. For it is written in the law of Moses, Thou shalt not muzzle the mouth of the ox that treadeth out the corn. Doth God take care for oxen? - Thou shalt not muzzle the ox when he treadeth out the corn. Deut. 25:4 - And in the same house remain, eating and drinking such things as they give: for the labourer is worthy of his hire. Go not from house to house. For our sakes, no doubt, this is written: that he that ploweth should plow in hope; and that he that thresheth in hope should be partaker of his hope. - And he that reapeth receiveth wages, and gathereth fruit unto life eternal: that both he that soweth and he that reapeth may rejoice together. John 4:36 - For we are labourers together with God: ye are God's husbandry, ye are God's building. 1 Cor. 3:9 - The husbandman that laboureth must be first partaker of the fruits. 2 Tim. 2:6 11. If we have sown unto you spiritual things, is it a great thing if we shall reap your carnal things? - It hath pleased them verily; and their debtors they are. For if the Gentiles have been made partakers of their spiritual things, their duty is also to minister unto them in carnal things. Rom. 15:27 - Let him that is taught in the word communicate unto him that teacheth in all good things. Gal. 6:6 - And we beseech you, brethren, to know them which labour among you, and are over you in the Lord, and admonish you; 1 Thess. 5:12 12. If others be partakers of this power over you, are not we rather? Nevertheless we have not used this power; but suffer all things, lest we should hinder the gospel of Christ. - Yea, ye yourselves know, that these hands have ministered unto my necessities, and to them that were with me. Acts 20:34 - And when I was present with you, and wanted, I was chargeable to no man: for that which was lacking to me the brethren which came from Macedonia supplied: and in all things I have kept myself from being burdensome unto you, and so will I keep myself. 2 Cor. 11:9 - For what is it wherein ye were inferior to other churches, except it be that I myself was not burdensome to you? forgive me this wrong. 2 Cor. 12:13 13. Do ye not know that they which minister about holy things live of the things of the temple? and they which wait at the altar are partakers with the altar? - And the remnant of the meat offering shall be Aaron's and his sons': it is a thing most holy of the offerings of the LORD made by fire. Lev. 2:3 - And every offering of all the holy things of the children of Israel, which they bring unto the priest, shall be his. Num. 5:9 - And this shall be the priest's due from the people, from them that offer a sacrifice, whether it be ox or sheep; and they shall give unto the priest the shoulder, and the two cheeks, and the maw. Jer. 20:9 - For we cannot but speak the things which we have seen and heard. Acts 4:20 - I am debtor both to the Greeks, and to the Barbarians; both to the wise, and to the unwise. Rom. 1:14 17. For if I do this thing willingly, I have a reward: but if against my will, a dispensation of the gospel is committed unto me. - So likewise ye, when ye shall have done all those things which are commanded you, say, We are unprofitable servants: we have done that which was our duty to do. Luke 17:10 - Now he that planteth and he that watereth are one: and every man shall receive his own reward according to his own labour. 1 Cor. 3:8 - Let a man so account of us, as of the ministers of Christ, and stewards of the mysteries of God. 1 Cor. 4:1 18. What is my reward then? Verily that, when I preach the gospel, I may make the gospel of Christ without charge, that I abuse not my power in the gospel. - And they that use this world, as not abusing it: for the fashion of this world passeth away. 1 Cor. 7:31 - Have I committed an offence in abasing myself that ye might be exalted, because I have preached to you the gospel of God freely? 2 Cor. 11:7 - How that he was caught up into paradise, and heard unspeakable words, which it is not lawful for a man to utter. 2 Cor. 12:4 19. For though I be free from all men, yet have I made myself servant unto all, that I might gain the more. - But it shall not be so among you: but whosoever will be great among you, let him be your minister; Matt. 20:26 - If by any means I may provoke to emulation them which are my flesh, and might save some of them. Rom. 11:14 - Even as I please all men in all things, not seeking mine own profit, but the profit of many, that they may be saved. 1 Cor. 10:33 20. And unto the Jews I became as a Jew, that I might gain the Jews; to them that are under the law, as under the law, that I might gain them that are under the law; - Him would Paul have to go forth with him; and took and circumcised him because of the Jews which were in those quarters: for they knew all that his father was a Greek. Acts 16:3 - Them take, and purify thyself with them, and be at charges with them, that they may shave their heads: and all may know that those things, whereof they were informed concerning thee, are nothing; but that thou thyself also walkest orderly, and keepest the law. Acts 21:24 - It is good neither to eat flesh, nor to drink wine, nor any thing whereby thy brother stumbleth, or is offended, or is made weak. Rom. 14:21 21. To them that are without law, as without law, (being not without law to God, but under the law to Christ,) that I might gain them that are without law. - And as they went through the cities, they delivered them the decrees for to keep, that were ordained of the apostles and elders which were at Jerusalem. Acts 16:4 - Bear ye one another's burdens, and so fulfil the law of Christ. Gal. 6:2 - As free, and not using your liberty for a cloke of maliciousness, but as the servants of God. 1 Pet. 2:16 22. To the weak became I as weak, that I might gain the weak: I am made all things to all men, that I might by all means save some. - We then that are strong ought to bear the infirmities of the weak, and not to please ourselves. Rom. 15:1 - Let every one of us please his neighbour for his good to edification. Rom. 15:2 - Even as I please all men in all things, not seeking mine own profit, but the profit of many, that they may be saved. 1 Cor. 10:33 23. And this I do for the gospel's sake, that I might be partaker thereof with you. - For whosoever will save his life shall lose it; but whosoever shall lose his life for my sake and the gospel's, the same shall save it. Mark 8:35 - If others be partakers of this power over you, are not we rather? Nevertheless we have not used this power; but suffer all things, lest we should hinder the gospel of Christ. 1 Cor. 9:12 - To whom we gave place by subjection, no, not for an hour; that the truth of the gospel might continue with you. Gal. 2:5 24. Know ye not that they which run in a race run all, but one receiveth the prize? So run, that ye may obtain. - I press toward the mark for the prize of the high calling of God in Christ Jesus. Phil. 3:14 - I have fought a good fight, I have finished my course, I have kept the faith: 2 Tim. 4:7 - Wherefore seeing we also are compassed about with so great a cloud of witnesses, let us lay aside every weight, and the sin which doth so easily beset us, and let us run with patience the race that is set before us, Heb. 12:1 25. And every man that striveth for the mastery is temperate in all things. Now they do it to obtain a corruptible crown; but we an incorruptible. - Fight the good fight of faith, lay hold on eternal life, whereunto thou art also called, and hast professed a good profession before many witnesses. 1 Tim. 6:12 - Henceforth there is laid up for me a crown of righteousness, which the Lord, the righteous judge, shall give me at that day: and not to me only, but unto all them also that love his appearing. 2 Tim. 4:8 - Fear none of those things which thou shalt suffer: behold, the devil shall cast some of you into prison, that ye may be tried; and ye shall have tribulation ten days: be thou faithful unto death, and I will give thee a crown of life. Rev. 2:10 26. I therefore so run, not as uncertainly; so fight I, not as one that beateth the air: - So likewise ye, except ye utter by the tongue words easy to be understood, how shall it be known what is spoken? for ye shall speak into the air. 1 Cor. 14:9 - I press toward the mark for the prize of the high calling of God in Christ Jesus. Phil. 3:14 - For we have not followed cunningly devised fables, when we made known unto you the power and coming of our Lord Jesus Christ, but were eyewitnesses of his majesty. 2 Pet. 1:16 27. But I keep under my body, and bring it into subjection: lest that by any means, when I have preached to others, I myself should be a castaway. - For if ye live after the flesh, ye shall die: but if ye through the Spirit do mortify the deeds of the body, ye shall live. Rom. 8:13 - Ye have not yet resisted unto blood, striving against sin. Heb. 12:4 - Dearly beloved, I beseech you as strangers and pilgrims, abstain from fleshly lusts, which war against the soul; 1 Pet. 2:11 |
