Beloved, believe not every spirit, but try the spirits whether they are of God: because many false prophets are gone out into the world. - For thus saith the LORD of hosts, the God of Israel; Let not your prophets and your diviners, that be in the midst of you, deceive you, neither hearken to your dreams which ye cause to be dreamed. Jer. 29:8 - And many false prophets shall rise, and shall deceive many. Matt. 24:11 - Let the prophets speak two or three, and let the other judge. 1 Cor. 14:29 2. Hereby know ye the Spirit of God: Every spirit that confesseth that Jesus Christ is come in the flesh is of God: - That if thou shalt confess with thy mouth the Lord Jesus, and shalt believe in thine heart that God hath raised him from the dead, thou shalt be saved. Rom. 10:9 - Wherefore I give you to understand, that no man speaking by the Spirit of God calleth Jesus accursed: and that no man can say that Jesus is the Lord, but by the Holy Ghost. 1 Cor. 12:3 - And that every tongue should confess that Jesus Christ is Lord, to the glory of God the Father. Phil. 2:11 3. And every spirit that confesseth not that Jesus Christ is come in the flesh is not of God: and this is that spirit of antichrist, whereof ye have heard that it should come; and even now already is it in the world. - For the mystery of iniquity doth already work: only he who now letteth will let, until he be taken out of the way. 2 Thess. 2:7 - Little children, it is the last time: and as ye have heard that antichrist shall come, even now are there many antichrists; whereby we know that it is the last time. 1 John 2:18 - Who is a liar but he that denieth that Jesus is the Christ? He is antichrist, that denieth the Father and the Son. 1 John 2:22 4. Ye are of God, little children, and have overcome them: because greater is he that is in you, than he that is in the world. - These things I have spoken unto you, that in me ye might have peace. In the world ye shall have tribulation: but be of good cheer; I have overcome the world. John 16:33 - For whatsoever is born of God overcometh the world: and this is the victory that overcometh the world, even our faith. 1 John 5:4 - And we know that we are of God, and the whole world lieth in wickedness. 1 John 5:19 5. They are of the world: therefore speak they of the world, and the world heareth them. - He that cometh from above is above all: he that is of the earth is earthly, and speaketh of the earth: he that cometh from heaven is above all. John 3:31 - And he said unto them, Ye are from beneath; I am from above: ye are of this world; I am not of this world. John 8:23 - I have given them thy word; and the world hath hated them, because they are not of the world, even as I am not of the world. John 17:14 6. We are of God: he that knoweth God heareth us; he that is not of God heareth not us. Hereby know we the spirit of truth, and the spirit of error. - He that is of God heareth God's words: ye therefore hear them not, because ye are not of God. John 8:47 - My sheep hear my voice, and I know them, and they follow me: John 10:27 - But the natural man receiveth not the things of the Spirit of God: for they are foolishness unto him: neither can he know them, because they are spiritually discerned. 1 Cor. 2:14 7. Beloved, let us love one another: for love is of God; and every one that loveth is born of God, and knoweth God. - He that loveth his brother abideth in the light, and there is none occasion of stumbling in him. 1 John 2:10 - If ye know that he is righteous, ye know that every one that doeth righteousness is born of him. 1 John 2:29 - Whosoever believeth that Jesus is the Christ is born of God: and every one that loveth him that begat loveth him also that is begotten of him. 1 John 5:1 8. He that loveth not knoweth not God; for God is love. - Nor height, nor depth, nor any other creature, shall be able to separate us from the love of God, which is in Christ Jesus our Lord. Rom. 8:39 - Behold, what manner of love the Father hath bestowed upon us, that we should be called the sons of God: therefore the world knoweth us not, because it knew him not. 1 John 3:1 - And we have known and believed the love that God hath to us. God is love; and he that dwelleth in love dwelleth in God, and God in him. 1 John 4:16 9. In this was manifested the love of God toward us, because that God sent his only begotten Son into the world, that we might live through him. - For God so loved the world, that he gave his only begotten Son, that whosoever believeth in him should not perish, but have everlasting life. John 3:16 - As the living Father hath sent me, and I live by the Father: so he that eateth me, even he shall live by me. John 6:57 - I am crucified with Christ: neverthless I live; yet not I, but Christ liveth in me: and the life which I now live in the flesh I live by the faith of the Son of God, who loved me, and gave himself for me. Gal. 2:20 10. Herein is love, not that we loved God, but that he loved us, and sent his Son to be the propitiation for our sins. - Ye have not chosen me, but I have chosen you, and ordained you, that ye should go and bring forth fruit, and that your fruit should remain: that whatsoever ye shall ask of the Father in my name, he may give it you. John 15:16 - But God commendeth his love toward us, in that, while we were yet sinners, Christ died for us. Rom. 5:8 - And he is the propitiation for our sins: and not for our's only, but also for the sins of the whole world. 1 John 2:2 11. Beloved, if God so loved us, we ought also to love one another. - Shouldest not thou also have had compassion on thy fellowservant, even as I had pity on thee? Matt. 18:33 - This is my commandment, That ye love one another, as I have loved you. John 15:12 - Hereby perceive we the love of God, because he laid down his life for us: and we ought to lay down our lives for the brethren. 1 John 3:16 12. No man hath seen God at any time. If we love one another, God dwelleth in us, and his love is perfected in us. - And he said, Thou canst not see my face: for there shall no man see me, and live. Ex. 33:20 - No man hath seen God at any time, the only begotten Son, which is in the bosom of the Father, he hath declared him. John 1:18 - But whoso keepeth his word, in him verily is the love of God perfected: hereby know we that we are in him. 1 John 2:5 13. Hereby know we that we dwell in him, and he in us, because he hath given us of his Spirit. - If ye keep my commandments, ye shall abide in my love; even as I have kept my Father's commandments, and abide in his love. John 15:10 - But ye are not in the flesh, but in the Spirit, if so be that the Spirit of God dwell in you. Now if any man have not the Spirit of Christ, he is none of his. Rom. 8:9 - Who hath also sealed us, and given the earnest of the Spirit in our hearts. 2 Cor. 1:22 14. And we have seen and do testify that the Father sent the Son to be the Saviour of the world. - And the Word was made flesh, and dwelt among us, (and we beheld his glory, the glory as of the only begotten of the Father,) full of grace and truth. John 1:14 - But ye shall receive power, after that the Holy Ghost is come upon you: and ye shall be witnesses unto me both in Jerusalem, and in all Judaea, and in Samaria, and unto the uttermost part of the earth. John 5:24 - Remember the word that I said unto you, The servant is not greater than his lord. If they have persecuted me, they will also persecute you; if they have kept my saying, they will keep yours also. John 15:20 - And now, little children, abide in him; that, when he shall appear, we may have confidence, and not be ashamed before him at his coming. 1 John 2:28 18. There is no fear in love; but perfect love casteth out fear: because fear hath torment. He that feareth is not made perfect in love. - Peace I leave with you, my peace I give unto you: not as the world giveth, give I unto you. Let not your heart be troubled, neither let it be afraid. John 14:27 - For ye have not received the spirit of bondage again to fear; but ye have received the Spirit of adoption, whereby we cry, Abba, Father. Rom. 8:15 - Beareth all things, believeth all things, hopeth all things, endureth all things. 1 Cor. 13:7 19. If a man say, I love God, and hateth his brother, he is a liar: for he that loveth not his brother whom he hath seen, how can he love God whom he hath not seen? - He that saith, I know him, and keepeth not his commandments, is a liar, and the truth is not in him. 1 John 2:4 - He that saith he is in the light, and hateth his brother, is in darkness even until now. 1 John 2:9 - But whoso hath this world's good, and seeth his brother have need, and shutteth up his bowels of compassion from him, how dwelleth the love of God in him? 1 John 3:17 21. And this commandment have we from him, That he who loveth God love his brother also. - And the second is like unto it, Thou shalt love thy neighbour as thyself. Matt. 22:39 - A new commandment I give unto you, That ye love one another; as I have loved you, that ye also love one another. John 13:34 - For this is the love of God, that we keep his commandments: and his commandments are not grievous. 1 John 5:3 |
