↥ 1 John 5NT with xrefs 1. Whosoever believeth that Jesus is the Christ is born of God: and every one that loveth him that begat loveth him also that is begotten of him. - But as many as received him, to them gave he power to become the sons of God, even to them that believe on his name: John 1:12 - Which were born, not of blood, nor of the will of the flesh, nor of the will of man, but of God. John 1:13 - By this shall all men know that ye are my disciples, if ye have love one to another. John 13:35 2. By this we know that we love the children of God, when we love God, and keep his commandments. - If ye love me, keep my commandments. John 14:15 - And this is his commandment, That we should believe on the name of his Son Jesus Christ, and love one another, as he gave us commandment. 1 John 3:23 - And he that keepeth his commandments dwelleth in him, and he in him. And hereby we know that he abideth in us, by the Spirit which he hath given us. 1 John 3:24 3. For this is the love of God, that we keep his commandments: and his commandments are not grievous. - For my yoke is easy, and my burden is light. Matt. 11:30 - For they bind heavy burdens and grievous to be borne, and lay them on men's shoulders; but they themselves will not move them with one of their fingers. Matt. 23:4 - Jesus answered and said unto him, If a man love me, he will keep my words: and my Father will love him, and we will come unto him, and make our abode with him. John 14:23 4. For whatsoever is born of God overcometh the world: and this is the victory that overcometh the world, even our faith. - These things I have spoken unto you, that in me ye might have peace. In the world ye shall have tribulation: but be of good cheer; I have overcome the world. John 16:33 - Above all, taking the shield of faith, wherewith ye shall be able to quench all the fiery darts of the wicked. Eph. 6:16 - Ye are of God, little children, and have overcome them: because greater is he that is in you, than he that is in the world. 1 John 4:4 5. Who is he that overcometh the world, but he that believeth that Jesus is the Son of God? - But thanks be to God, which giveth us the victory through our Lord Jesus Christ. 1 Cor. 15:57 - That if thou shalt confess with thy mouth the Lord Jesus, and shalt believe in thine heart that God hath raised him from the dead, thou shalt be saved. Rom. 10:9 - Whosoever shall confess that Jesus is the Son of God, God dwelleth in him, and he in God. 1 John 4:15 6. This is he that came by water and blood, even Jesus Christ; not by water only, but by water and blood. And it is the Spirit that beareth witness, because the Spirit is truth. - But when the Comforter is come, whom I will send unto you from the Father, even the Spirit of truth, which proceedeth from the Father, he shall testify of me: John 15:26 - But one of the soldiers with a spear pierced his side, and forthwith came there out blood and water. John 19:34 - Neither by the blood of goats and calves, but by his own blood he entered in once into the holy place, having obtained eternal redemption for us. Heb. 9:12 7. For there are three that bear record in heaven, the Father, the Word, and the Holy Ghost: and these three are one. - At the mouth of two witnesses, or three witnesses, shall he that is worthy of death be put to death; but at the mouth of one witness he shall not be put to death. Deut. 17:6 - One witness shall not rise up against a man for any iniquity, or for any sin, in any sin that he sinneth: at the mouth of two witnesses, or at the mouth of three witnesses, shall the matter be established. And there are three that bear witness in earth, the Spirit, and the water, and the blood: and these three agree in one. - But when the Comforter is come, whom I will send unto you from the Father, even the Spirit of truth, which proceedeth from the Father, he shall testify of me: John 15:26 - And to Jesus the mediator of the new covenant, and to the blood of sprinkling, that speaketh better things that that of Abel. Heb. 12:24 - The like figure whereunto even baptism doth also now save us (not the putting away of the filth of the flesh, but the answer of a good conscience toward God,) by the resurrection of Jesus Christ: 1 Pet. 3:21 9. If we receive the witness of men, the witness of God is greater: for this is the witness of God which he hath testified of his Son. - God is not a man, that he should lie; neither the son of man, that he should repent: hath he said, and shall he not do it? or hath he spoken, and shall he not make it good? Num. 23:19 - And lo a voice from heaven, saying, This is my beloved Son, in whom I am well pleased. Matt. 3:17 - I am one that bear witness of myself, and the Father that sent me beareth witness of me. John 8:18 10. He that believeth on the Son of God hath the witness in himself: he that believeth not God hath made him a liar; because he believeth not the record that God gave of his Son. - Of sin, because they believe not on me; John 16:9 - The Spirit itself beareth witness with our spirit, that we are the children of God: Rom. 8:16 - And because ye are sons, God hath sent forth the Spirit of his Son into your hearts, crying, Abba, Father. John 14:6 - And this is the promise that he hath promised us, even eternal life. 1 John 2:25 12. He that hath the Son hath life; and he that hath not the Son of God hath not life. - For God so loved the world, that he gave his only begotten Son, that whosoever believeth in him should not perish, but have everlasting life. John 3:16 - He that believeth on the Son hath everlasting life: and he that believeth not the Son shall not see life; but the wrath of God abideth on him. John 5:24 13. These things have I written unto you that believe on the name of the Son of God; that ye may know that ye have eternal life, and that ye may believe on the name of the Son of God. - But these are written, that ye might believe that Jesus is the Christ, the Son of God; and that believing ye might have life through his name. And if we know that he hear us, whatsoever we ask, we know that we have the petitions that we desired of him. - The LORD is far from the wicked: but he heareth the prayer of the righteous. Prov. 15:29 - Therefore I say unto you, What things soever ye desire, when ye pray, believe that ye receive them, and ye shall have them. Mark 11:24 - For every one that asketh receiveth; and he that seeketh findeth; and to him that knocketh it shall be opened. Luke 11:10 16. If any man see his brother sin a sin which is not unto death, he shall ask, and he shall give him life for them that sin not unto death. There is a sin unto death: I do not say that he shall pray for it. - And whosoever speaketh a word against the Son of man, it shall be forgiven him: but whosoever speaketh against the Holy Ghost, it shall not be forgiven him, neither in this world, neither in the world to come. Matt. 12:32 - For it is impossible for those who were once enlightened, and have tasted of the heavenly gift, and were made partakers of the Holy Ghost, Heb. 6:4 - For if we sin wilfully after that we have received the knowledge of the truth, there remaineth no more sacrifice for sins, Heb. 10:26 17. And we know that we are of God, and the whole world lieth in wickedness. - Now is the judgment of this world: now shall the prince of this world be cast out. John 12:31 - Wherein in time past ye walked according to the course of this world, according to the prince of the power of the air, the spirit that now worketh in the children of disobedience: Eph. 2:2 - And the great dragon was cast out, that old serpent, called the Devil, and Satan, which deceiveth the whole world: he was cast out into the earth, and his angels were cast out with him. Rev. 12:9 20. And we know that the Son of God is come, and hath given us an understanding, that we may know him that is true, and we are in him that is true, even in his Son Jesus Christ. This is the true God, and eternal life. - Then opened he their understanding, that they might understand the scriptures, Luke 24:45 - And this is life eternal, that they might know thee the only true God, and Jesus Christ, whom thou hast sent.
