↥ 1 Thess. 4NT with xrefs 1. Furthermore then we beseech you, brethren, and exhort you by the Lord Jesus, that as ye have received of us how ye ought to walk and to please God, so ye would abound more and more. - Only let your conversation be as it becometh the gospel of Christ: that whether I come and see you, or else be absent, I may hear of your affairs, that ye stand fast in one spirit, with one mind striving together for the faith of the gospel; Phil. 1:27 - Finally, brethren, whatsoever things are true, whatsoever things are honest, whatsoever things are just, whatsoever things are pure, whatsoever things are lovely, whatsoever things are of good report; if there be any virtue, and if there be any praise, think on these things. Phil. 4:8 - That ye would walk worthy of God, who hath called you unto his kingdom and glory. 1 Thess. 2:12 2. For ye know what commandments we gave you by the Lord Jesus. - Son of man, I have made thee a watchman unto the house of Israel: therefore hear the word at my mouth, and give them warning from me. Ezek. 3:17 - Teaching them to observe all things whatsoever I have commanded you: and, lo, I am with you alway, even unto the end of the world. Amen. Matt. 28:20 - Now the end of the commandment is charity out of a pure heart, and of a good conscience, and of faith unfeigned: 1 Tim. 1:5 3. For this is the will of God, even your sanctification, that ye should abstain from fornication: - But that we write unto them, that they abstain from pollutions of idols, and from fornication, and from things strangled, and from blood. Acts 15:20 - Flee fornication. Every sin that a man doeth is without the body; but he that committeth fornication sinneth against his own body. 1 Cor. 6:18 - But fornication, and all uncleanness, or covetousness, let it not be once named among you, as becometh saints; Eph. 5:3 4. That every one of you should know how to possess his vessel in sanctification and honour; - Know ye not that your bodies are the members of Christ? shall I then take the members of Christ, and make them the members of an harlot? God forbid. 1 Cor. 6:15 - But if they cannot contain, let them marry: for it is better to marry than to burn. 1 Cor. 7:9 - Marriage is honourable in all, and the bed undefiled: but whoremongers and adulterers God will judge. Heb. 13:4 5. Not in the lust of concupiscence, even as the Gentiles which know not God: - Wherefore God also gave them up to uncleanness through the lusts of their own hearts, to dishonour their own bodies between themselves: Rom. 1:24 - Who being past feeling have given themselves over unto lasciviousness, to work all uncleanness with greediness. Eph. 4:19 - Mortify therefore your members which are upon the earth; fornication, uncleanness, inordinate affection, evil concupiscence, and covetousness, which is idolatry: Col. 3:5 6. That no man go beyond and defraud his brother in any matter: because that the Lord is the avenger of all such, as we also have forewarned you and testified. - Dearly beloved, avenge not yourselves, but rather give place unto wrath: for it is written, Vengeance is mine; I will repay, saith the Lord. Rom. 12:19 - Nay, ye do wrong, and defraud, and that your brethren. 1 Cor. 6:8 - In flaming fire taking vengeance on them that know not God, and that obey not the gospel of our Lord Jesus Christ: 2 Thess. 1:8 7. For God hath not called us unto uncleanness, but unto holiness. - Speak unto all the congregation of the children of Israel, and say unto them, Ye shall be holy: for I the LORD your God am holy. Lev. 19:2 - According as he hath chosen us in him before the foundation of the world, that we should be holy and without blame before him in love: Eph. 1:4 - But as he which hath called you is holy, so be ye holy in all manner of conversation; 1 Pet. 1:15 8. He therefore that despiseth, despiseth not man, but God, who hath also given unto us his holy Spirit. - And I will put my spirit within you, and cause you to walk in my statutes, and ye shall keep my judgments, and do them. Ezek. 36:27 - He that heareth you heareth me; and he that despiseth you despiseth me; and he that despiseth me despiseth him that sent me. Luke 10:16 - See that ye refuse not him that speaketh. For if they escaped not who refused him that spake on earth, much more shall not we escape, if we turn away from him that speaketh from heaven: Heb. 12:25 9. But as touching brotherly love ye need not that I write unto you: for ye yourselves are taught of God to love one another. - It is written in the prophets, And they shall be all taught of God. Every man therefore that hath heard, and hath learned of the Father, cometh unto me. John 6:45 - A new commandment I give unto you, That ye love one another; as I have loved you, that ye also love one another. John 13:34 - Be kindly affectioned one to another with brotherly love; in honour preferring one another; Rom. 12:10 10. And indeed ye do it toward all the brethren which are in all Macedonia: but we beseech you, brethren, that ye increase more and more; - Since we heard of your faith in Christ Jesus, and of the love which ye have to all the saints, Col. 1:4 - So that ye were ensamples to all that believe in Macedonia and Achaia. 1 Thess. 1:7 - And above all things have fervent charity among yourselves: for charity shall cover the multitude of sins. 1 Pet. 4:8 11. And that ye study to be quiet, and to do your own business, and to work with your own hands, as we commanded you; - Let him that stole steal no more: but rather let him labour, working with his hands the thing which is good, that he may have to give to him that needeth. Eph. 4:28 - Now them that are such we command and exhort by our Lord Jesus Christ, that with quietness they work, and eat their own bread. 2 Thess. 3:12 - For kings, and for all that are in authority; that we may lead a quiet and peaceable life in all godliness and honesty. 1 Tim. 2:2 12. That ye may walk honestly toward them that are without, and that ye may have lack of nothing. - Let us walk honestly, as in the day; not in rioting and drunkenness, not in chambering and wantonness, not in strife and envying. Rom. 13:13 - Walk in wisdom toward them that are without, redeeming the time. Col. 4:5 - Having your conversation honest among the Gentiles: that, whereas they speak against you as evildoers, they may by your good works, which they shall behold, glorify God in the day of visitation. 1 Pet. 2:12 13. But I would not have you to be ignorant, brethren, concerning them which are asleep, that ye sorrow not, even as others which have no hope. - And many of them that sleep in the dust of the earth shall awake, some to everlasting life, and some to shame and everlasting contempt. Dan. 12:2 - These things said he: and after that he saith unto them, Our friend Lazarus sleepeth; but I go, that I may awake him out of sleep. John 11:11 - That at that time ye were without Christ, being aliens from the commonwealth of Israel, and strangers from the covenants of promise, having no hope, and without God in the world: Eph. 2:12 14. For if we believe that Jesus died and rose again, even so them also which sleep in Jesus will God bring with him. - But if the Spirit of him that raised up Jesus from the dead dwell in you, he that raised up Christ from the dead shall also quicken your mortal bodies by his Spirit that dwelleth in you. Rom. 8:11 - For as in Adam all die, even so in Christ shall all be made alive. 1 Cor. 15:22 - Knowing that he which raised up the Lord Jesus shall raise up us also by Jesus, and shall present us with you. 2 Cor. 4:14 15. For this we say unto you by the word of the Lord, that we which are alive and remain unto the coming of the Lord shall not prevent them which are asleep. - Behold, I shew you a mystery; We shall not all sleep, but we shall all be changed, 1 Cor. 15:51 - But we all, with open face beholding as in a glass the glory of the Lord, are changed into the same image from glory to glory, even as by the Spirit of the Lord. 2 Cor. 3:18 - Who shall change our vile body, that it may be fashioned like unto his glorious body, according to the working whereby he is able even to subdue all things unto himself. Phil. 3:21 16. For the Lord himself shall descend from heaven with a shout, with the voice of the archangel, and with the trump of God: and the dead in Christ shall rise first: - And he shall send his angels with a great sound of a trumpet, and they shall gather together his elect from the four winds, from one end of heaven to the other. Matt. 24:31 - In a moment, in the twinkling of an eye, at the last trump: for the trumpet shall sound, and the dead shall be raised incorruptible, and we shall be changed. 1 Cor. 15:52 - And to you who are troubled rest with us, when the Lord Jesus shall be revealed from heaven with his mighty angels, 2 Thess. 1:7 17. Then we which are alive and remain shall be caught up together with them in the clouds, to meet the Lord in the air: and so shall we ever be with the Lord. - I saw in the night visions, and, behold, one like the Son of man came with the clouds of heaven, and came to the Ancient of days, and they brought him near before him. Dan. 7:13 - And if I go and prepare a place for you, I will come again, and receive you unto myself; that where I am, there ye may be also. John 14:3 - For I am in a strait betwixt two, having a desire to depart, and to be with Christ; which is far better: Phil. 1:23 18. Wherefore comfort one another with these words. - Comfort ye, comfort ye my people, saith your God. Isa. 40:1 - But I would not have you to be ignorant, brethren, concerning them which are asleep, that ye sorrow not, even as others which have no hope. 1 Thess. 4:13 - Not forsaking the assembling of ourselves together, as the manner of some is; but exhorting one another: and so much the more, as ye see the day approaching.
