But of the times and the seasons, brethren, ye have no need that I write unto you. - But of that day and hour knoweth no man, no, not the angels of heaven, but my Father only. Matt. 24:36 - And he said unto them, It is not for you to know the times or the seasons, which the Father hath put in his own power. Acts 1:7 - But as touching brotherly love ye need not that I write unto you: for ye yourselves are taught of God to love one another. 1 Thess. 4:9 2. For yourselves know perfectly that the day of the Lord so cometh as a thief in the night. - But know this, that if the goodman of the house had known in what watch the thief would come, he would have watched, and would not have suffered his house to be broken up. Matt. 24:43 - But the day of the Lord will come as a thief in the night; in the which the heavens shall pass away with a great noise, and the elements shall melt with fervent heat, the earth also and the works that are therein shall be burned up. 2 Pet. 3:10 - Remember therefore how thou hast received and heard, and hold fast, and repent. If therefore thou shalt not watch, I will come on thee as a thief, and thou shalt not know what hour I will come upon thee. Rev. 3:3 3. For when they shall say, Peace and safety; then sudden destruction cometh upon them, as travail upon a woman with child; and they shall not escape. - They have healed also the hurt of the daughter of my people slightly, saying, Peace, peace; when there is no peace. Jer. 6:14 - Because, even because they have seduced my people, saying, Peace; and there was no peace; and one built up a wall, and, lo, others daubed it with untempered morter: Ezek. 13:10 - For as a snare shall it come on all them that dwell on the face of the whole earth. Luke 21:35 4. But ye, brethren, are not in darkness, that that day should overtake you as a thief. - Then Jesus said unto them, Yet a little while is the light with you. Walk while ye have the light, lest darkness come upon you: for he that walketh in darkness knoweth not whither he goeth. John 12:35 - For ye were sometimes darkness, but now are ye light in the Lord: walk as children of light: Eph. 5:8 - Remember therefore how thou hast received and heard, and hold fast, and repent. Ye are all the children of light, and the children of the day: we are not of the night, nor of darkness. - And the lord commended the unjust steward, because he had done wisely: for the children of this world are in their generation wiser than the children of light. Luke 16:8 - While ye have light, believe in the light, that ye may be the children of light. These things spake Jesus, and departed, and did hide himself from them. John 12:36 - To open their eyes, and to turn them from darkness to light, and from the power of Satan unto God, that they may receive forgiveness of sins, and inheritance among them which are sanctified by faith that is in me. Acts 26:18 6. Therefore let us not sleep, as do others; but let us watch and be sober. - And take heed to yourselves, lest at any time your hearts be overcharged with surfeiting, and drunkenness, and cares of this life, and so that day come upon you unawares. Luke 21:34 - And that, knowing the time, that now it is high time to awake out of sleep: for now is our salvation nearer than when we believed. Rom. 13:11 - Awake to righteousness, and sin not; for some have not the knowledge of God: I speak this to your shame. 1 Cor. 15:34 7. For they that sleep sleep in the night; and they that be drunken are drunken in the night. - For these are not drunken, as ye suppose, seeing it is but the third hour of the day. Acts 2:15 - Let us walk honestly, as in the day; not in rioting and drunkenness, not in chambering and wantonness, not in strife and envying. Rom. 13:13 - Wherefore he saith, Awake thou that sleepest, and arise from the dead, and Christ shall give thee light. Eph. 5:14 8. But let us, who are of the day, be sober, putting on the breastplate of faith and love; and for an helmet, the hope of salvation. - For he put on righteousness as a breastplate, and an helmet of salvation upon his head; and he put on the garments of vengeance for clothing, and was clad with zeal as a cloak. Isa. 59:17 - Stand therefore, having your loins girt about with truth, and having on the breastplate of righteousness; Eph. 6:14 - And take the helmet of salvation, and the sword of the Spirit, which is the word of God: Eph. 6:17 9. For God hath not appointed us to wrath, but to obtain salvation by our Lord Jesus Christ, - Much more then, being now justified by his blood, we shall be saved from wrath through him. Rom. 5:9 - Having predestinated us unto the adoption of children by Jesus Christ to himself, according to the good pleasure of his will, Eph. 1:5 - And to wait for his Son from heaven, whom he raised from the dead, even Jesus, which delivered us from the wrath to come. 1 Thess. 1:10 10. Who died for us, that, whether we wake or sleep, we should live together with him. - For to this end Christ both died, and rose, and revived, that he might be Lord both of the dead and living. Rom. 14:9 - And that he died for all, that they which live should not henceforth live unto themselves, but unto him which died for them, and rose again. 2 Cor. 5:15 - Who gave himself for us, that he might redeem us from all iniquity, and purify unto himself a peculiar people, zealous of good works. Titus 2:14 11. Wherefore comfort yourselves together, and edify one another, even as also ye do. - Let every one of us please his neighbour for his good to edification. Rom. 15:2 - Let no corrupt communication proceed out of your mouth, but that which is good to the use of edifying, that it may minister grace unto the hearers. Eph. 4:29 - And let us consider one another to provoke unto love and to good works: Heb. 10:24 12. And we beseech you, brethren, to know them which labour among you, and are over you in the Lord, and admonish you; - Let him that is taught in the word communicate unto him that teacheth in all good things. Gal. 6:6 - Let the elders that rule well be counted worthy of double honour, especially they who labour in the word and doctrine. 1 Tim. 5:17 - Obey them that have the rule over you, and submit yourselves: for they watch for your souls, as they that must give account, that they may do it with joy, and not with grief: for that is unprofitable for you. Heb. 13:17 13. And to esteem them very highly in love for their work's sake. And be at peace among yourselves. - Salt is good: but if the salt have lost his saltness, wherewith will ye season it? Have salt in yourselves, and have peace one with another. Mark 9:50 - Receive him therefore in the Lord with all gladness; and hold such in reputation: Phil. 2:29 - Follow peace with all men, and holiness, without which no man shall see the Lord: Heb. 12:14 14. Now we exhort you, brethren, warn them that are unruly, comfort the feebleminded, support the weak, be patient toward all men. - Moreover if thy brother shall trespass against thee, go and tell him his fault between thee and him alone: if he shall hear thee, thou hast gained thy brother. Matt. 18:15 - Him that is weak in the faith receive ye, but not to doubtful disputations. Rom. 14:1 - Preach the word; be instant in season, out of season; reprove, rebuke, exhort with all longsuffering and doctrine. 2 Tim. 4:2 15. See that none render evil for evil unto any man; but ever follow that which is good, both among yourselves, and to all men. - Thou shalt not avenge, nor bear any grudge against the children of thy people, but thou shalt love thy neighbor as thyself: I am the LORD. Lev. 19:18 - Recompense to no man evil for evil. Provide things honest in the sight of all men. Rom. 12:17 - Not rendering evil for evil, or railing for railing: but contrariwise blessing; knowing that ye are thereunto called, that ye should inherit a blessing. 1 Pet. 3:9 16. Rejoice evermore. - Then he said unto them, Go your way, eat the fat, and drink the sweet, and send portions unto them for whom nothing is prepared: for this day is holy unto our LORD: neither be ye sorry; for the joy of the LORD is your strength. Neh. 8:10 - Notwithstanding in this rejoice not, that the spirits are subject unto you; but rather rejoice, because your names are written in heaven. Luke 10:20 - Rejoice in the Lord alway: and again I say, Rejoice. Phil. 4:4 17. Pray without ceasing. - And he spake a parable unto them to this end, that men ought always to pray, and not to faint; Luke 18:1 - Praying always with all prayer and supplication in the Spirit, and watching thereunto with all perseverance and supplication for all saints; Eph. 6:18 - Continue in prayer, and watch in the same with thanksgiving; Col. 4:2 18. In every thing give thanks: for this is the will of God in Christ Jesus concerning you. - Giving thanks always for all things unto God and the Father in the name of our Lord Jesus Christ; Eph. 5:20 - Be careful for nothing; but in every thing by prayer and supplication with thanksgiving let your requests be made known unto God. Phil. 4:6 - By him therefore let us offer the sacrifice of praise to God continually, that is, the fruit of our lips giving thanks to his name. Heb. 13:15 19. Quench not the Spirit. - I indeed baptize you with water unto repentance: but he that cometh after me is mightier than I, whose shoes I am not worthy to bear: he shall baptize you with the Holy Ghost, and with fire: Matt. 3:11 - And grieve not the holy Spirit of God, whereby ye are sealed unto the day of redemption. Eph. 4:30 - Wherefore I put thee in remembrance that thou stir up the gift of God, which is in thee by the putting on of my hands. 2 Tim. 1:6 20. Despise not prophesyings. - Follow after charity, and desire spiritual gifts, but rather that ye may prophesy. 1 Cor. 14:1 - Wherefore, brethren, covet to prophesy, and forbid not to speak with tongues. 1 Cor. 14:39 - For the prophecy came not in old time by the will of man: but holy men of God spake as they were moved by the Holy Ghost. 2 Pet. 1:21 21. Prove all things; hold fast that which is good. - Let the prophets speak two or three, and let the other judge. 1 Cor. 14:29 - That ye may approve things that are excellent; that ye may be sincere and without offence till the day of Christ. Phil. 1:10 - Beloved, believe not every spirit, but try the spirits whether they are of God: because many false prophets are gone out into the world. 1 John 4:1 22. Abstain from all appearance of evil. - He that walketh righteously, and speaketh uprightly; he that despiseth the gain of oppressions, that shaketh his hands from holding of bribes, that stoppeth his ears from hearing of blood, and shutteth his eyes from seeing evil; Isa. 33:15 - Let love be without dissimulation. Abhor that which is evil; cleave to that which is good. Rom. 12:9 - Wherefore laying aside all malice, and all guile, and hypocrisies, and envies, all evil speakings, 1 Pet. 2:1 23. And the very God of peace sanctify you wholly; and I pray God your whole spirit and soul and body be preserved blameless unto the coming of our Lord Jesus Christ. - Who shall also confirm you unto the end, that ye may be blameless in the day of our Lord Jesus Christ. 1 Cor. 1:8 - To the end he may stablish your hearts unblameable in holiness before God, even our Father, at the coming of our Lord Jesus Christ with all his saints. 1 Thess. 3:13 - Now the Lord of peace himself give you peace always by all means. The Lord be with you all. 2 Thess. 3:16 24. Faithful is he that calleth you, who also will do it. - There hath no temptation taken you but such as is common to man: but God is faithful, who will not suffer you to be tempted above that ye are able; but will with the temptation also make a way to escape, that ye may be able to bear it. 1 Cor. 10:13 - Being confident of this very thing, that he which hath begun a good work in you will perform it until the day of Jesus Christ: Phil. 1:6 - But the Lord is faithful, who shall stablish you, and keep you from evil. 2 Thess. 3:3 25. Brethren, pray for us. - And for me, that utterance may be given unto me, that I may open my mouth boldly, to make known the mystery of the gospel, Eph. 6:19 - Withal praying also for us, that God would open unto us a door of utterance, to speak the mystery of Christ, for which I am also in bonds: Col. 4:3 - Finally, brethren, pray for us, that the word of the Lord may have free course, and be glorified, even as it is with you: 2 Thess. 3:1 26. Greet all the brethren with an holy kiss. - Salute one another with an holy kiss. The churches of Christ salute you. Rom. 16:16 - Greet one another with an holy kiss. 2 Cor. 13:12 - Greet ye one another with a kiss of charity. Peace be with you all that are in Christ Jesus. Amen. 1 Pet. 5:14 27. I charge you by the Lord that this epistle be read unto all the holy brethren. - And afterward he read all the words of the law, the blessings and cursings, according to all that is written in the book of the law. Josh. 8:34 - So they read in the book in the law of God distinctly, and gave the sense, and caused them to understand the reading. Neh. 8:8 - And when this epistle is read among you, cause that it be read also in the church of the Laodiceans; and that ye likewise read the epistle from Laodicea. Col. 4:16 28. The grace of our Lord Jesus Christ be with you. Amen. - The grace of the Lord Jesus Christ, and the love of God, and the communion of the Holy Ghost, be with you all.
