I exhort therefore, that, first of all, supplications, prayers, intercessions, and giving of thanks, be made for all men; - We give thanks to God and the Father of our Lord Jesus Christ, praying always for you, Col. 1:3 - We are bound to thank God always for you, brethren, as it is meet, because that your faith groweth exceedingly, and the charity of every one of you all toward each other aboundeth; 2 Thess. 1:3 - Confess your faults one to another, and pray one for another, that ye may be healed. The effectual fervent prayer of a righteous man availeth much. James 5:16 2. For kings, and for all that are in authority; that we may lead a quiet and peaceable life in all godliness and honesty. - That they may offer sacrifices of sweet savours unto the God of heaven, and pray for the life of the king, and of his sons. Ezra 6:10 - And seek the peace of the city whither I have caused you to be carried away captives, and pray unto the LORD for it: for in the peace thereof shall ye have peace. Jer. 29:7 - But let it be the hidden man of the heart, in that which is not corruptible, even the ornament of a meek and quiet spirit, which is in the sight of God of great price. 1 Pet. 3:4 3. For this is good and acceptable in the sight of God our Saviour; - And Abel, he also brought of the firstlings of his flock and of the fat thereof. For there is one God, and one mediator between God and men, the man Christ Jesus; - Hear, O Israel: The LORD our God is one LORD: Deut. 6:4 - Now a mediator is not a mediator of one, but God is one. Gal. 3:20 - And for this cause he is the mediator of the new testament, that by means of death, for the redemption of the transgressions that were under the first testament, they which are called might receive the promise of eternal inheritance. Heb. 9:15 6. Who gave himself a ransom for all, to be testified in due time. - For even the Son of man came not to be ministered unto, but to minister, and to give his life a ransom for many. Mark 10:45 - And that he died for all, that they which live should not henceforth live unto themselves, but unto him which died for them, and rose again. 2 Cor. 5:15 - And walk in love, as Christ also hath loved us, and hath given himself for us an offering and a sacrifice to God for a sweetsmelling savour. Eph. 5:2 7. Whereunto I am ordained a preacher, and an apostle, (I speak the truth in Christ, and lie not;) a teacher of the Gentiles in faith and verity. - But the Lord said unto him, Go thy way: for he is a chosen vessel unto me, to bear my name before the Gentiles, and kings, and the children of Israel: Acts 9:15 - Then the deputy, when he saw what was done, believed, being astonished at the doctrine of the Lord. Acts 13:12 - Whereunto I am appointed a preacher, and an apostle, and a teacher of the Gentiles. 2 Tim. 1:11 8. In like manner also, that women adorn themselves in modest apparel, with shamefacedness and sobriety; not with broided hair, or gold, or pearls, or costly array; - Moreover the LORD saith, Because the daughters of Zion are haughty, and walk with stretched forth necks and wanton eyes, walking and mincing as they go, and making a tinkling with their feet: Isa. 3:16 - The aged women likewise, that they be in behaviour as becometh holiness, not false accusers, not given to much wine, teachers of good things; Titus 2:3 - Whose adorning let it not be that outward adorning of plaiting the hair, and of wearing of gold, or of putting on of apparel; 1 Pet. 3:3 10. But (which becometh women professing godliness) with good works. - Now there was at Joppa a certain disciple named Tabitha, which by interpretation is called Dorcas: this woman was full of good works and almsdeeds which she did. Acts 9:36 - For we are his workmanship, created in Christ Jesus unto good works, which God hath before ordained that we should walk in them. Eph. 2:10 - Well reported of for good works; if she have brought up children, if she have lodged strangers, if she have washed the saints' feet, if she have relieved the afflicted, if she have diligently followed every good work. 1 Tim. 5:10 11. Let the woman learn in silence with all subjection. - Unto the woman he said, I will greatly multiply thy sorrow and thy conception; in sorrow thou shalt bring forth children; and thy desire shall be to thy husband, and he shall rule over thee. Gen. 3:16 - Likewise, ye wives, be in subjection to your own husbands; that, if any obey not the word, they also may without the word be won by the conversation of the wives; 1 Pet. 3:1 - But let it be the hidden man of the heart, in that which is not corruptible, even the ornament of a meek and quiet spirit, which is in the sight of God of great price. 1 Pet. 3:4 12. But I suffer not a woman to teach, nor to usurp authority over the man, but to be in silence. - It is good that a man should both hope and quietly wait for the salvation of the LORD. Lam. 3:26 - Let your women keep silence in the churches: for it is not permitted unto them to speak; but they are commanded to be under obedience as also saith the law. 1 Cor. 14:34 - Wherefore lay apart all filthiness and superfluity of naughtiness, and receive with meekness the engrafted word, which is able to save your souls. James 1:21 13. For Adam was first formed, then Eve. - And the LORD God said, It is not good that the man should be alone; I will make him an help meet for him. Gen. 2:18 - And the rib, which the LORD God had taken from man, made he a woman, and brought her unto the man. Gen. 2:22 - Neither was the man created for the woman; but the woman for the man. 1 Cor. 11:9 14. And Adam was not deceived, but the woman being deceived was in the transgression. - And when the woman saw that the tree was good for food, and that it was pleasant to the eyes, and a tree to be desired to make one wise, she took of the fruit thereof, and did eat, and gave also unto her husband with her; and he did eat. Gen. 3:6 - And the LORD God said unto the woman, What is this that thou hast done? And the woman said, The serpent beguiled me, and I did eat. Gen. 3:13 - But I fear, lest by any means, as the serpent beguiled Eve through his subtilty, so your minds should be corrupted from the simplicity that is in Christ. 2 Cor. 11:3 15. Notwithstanding she shall be saved in childbearing, if they continue in faith and charity and holiness with sobriety. - And I will put enmity between thee and the woman, and between thy seed and her seed; it shall bruise thy head, and thou shalt bruise his heel. Gen. 3:15 - Therefore the Lord himself shall give you a sign; Behold, a virgin shall conceive, and bear a son, and shall call his name Immanuel. Isa. 7:14 - Teaching us that, denying ungodliness and worldly lusts, we should live soberly, righteously, and godly, in this present world; Titus 2:12 |
