↥ 2 Cor. 10NT with xrefs 1. Now I Paul myself beseech you by the meekness and gentleness of Christ, who in presence am base among you, but being absent am bold toward you: - And I was with you in weakness, and in fear, and in much trembling. 1 Cor. 2:3 - For his letters, say they, are weighty and powerful; but his bodily presence is weak, and his speech contemptible. 2 Cor. 10:10 - As also in all his epistles, speaking in them of these things; in which are some things hard to be understood, which they that are unlearned and unstable wrest, as they do also the other scriptures, unto their own destruction. 2 Pet. 3:16 2. But I beseech you, that I may not be bold when I am present with that confidence, wherewith I think to be bold against some, which think of us as if we walked according to the flesh. - What will ye? shall I come unto you with a rod, or in love, and in the spirit of meekness? 1 Cor. 4:21 - I told you before, and foretell you, as if I were present, the second time; and being absent now I write to them which heretofore have sinned, and to all other, that, if I come again, I will not spare: 2 Cor. 13:2 - Therefore I write these things being absent, lest being present I should use sharpness, according to the power which the Lord hath given me to edification, and not to destruction. 2 Cor. 13:10 3. For though we walk in the flesh, we do not war after the flesh: - For if ye live after the flesh, ye shall die: but if ye through the Spirit do mortify the deeds of the body, ye shall live. Rom. 8:13 - I am crucified with Christ: neverthless I live; yet not I, but Christ liveth in me: and the life which I now live in the flesh I live by the faith of the Son of God, who loved me, and gave himself for me. Gal. 2:20 - For we wrestle not against flesh and blood, but against principalities, against powers, against the rulers of the darkness of this world, against spiritual wickedness in high places. Eph. 6:12 4. (For the weapons of our warfare are not carnal, but mighty through God to the pulling down of strong holds;) - See, I have this day set thee over the nations and over the kingdoms, to root out, and to pull down, and to destroy, and to throw down, to build, and to plant. Jer. 1:10 - The night is far spent, the day is at hand: let us therefore cast off the works of darkness, and let us put on the armour of light. Rom. 13:12 - By the word of truth, by the power of God, by the armour of righteousness on the right hand and on the left, 2 Cor. 6:7 5. Casting down imaginations, and every high thing that exalteth itself against the knowledge of God, and bringing into captivity every thought to the obedience of Christ; - The lofty looks of man shall be humbled, and the haughtiness of men shall be bowed down, and the LORD alone shall be exalted in that day. Isa. 2:11 - But he answered and said, Every plant, which my heavenly Father hath not planted, shall be rooted up. Matt. 15:13 - For it is written, I will destroy the wisdom of the wise, and will bring to nothing the understanding of the prudent. 1 Cor. 1:19 6. And having in a readiness to revenge all disobedience, when your obedience is fulfilled. - And he spake unto the congregation, saying, Depart, I pray you, from the tents of these wicked men, and touch nothing of theirs, lest ye be consumed in all their sins. Num. 16:26 - For to this end also did I write, that I might know the proof of you, whether ye be obedient in all things. 2 Cor. 2:9 - And his inward affection is more abundant toward you, whilst he remembereth the obedience of you all, how with fear and trembling ye received him. 2 Cor. 7:15 7. Do ye look on things after the outward appearance? If any man trust to himself that he is Christ's, let him of himself think this again, that, as he is Christ's, even so are we Christ's. - Judge not according to the appearance, but judge righteous judgment. John 7:24 - For we commend not ourselves again unto you, but give you occasion to glory on our behalf, that ye may have somewhat to answer them which glory in appearance, and not in heart. 2 Cor. 5:12 - For such are false apostles, deceitful workers, transforming themselves into the apostles of Christ. 2 Cor. 11:13 8. For though I should boast somewhat more of our authority, which the Lord hath given us for edification, and not for your destruction, I should not be ashamed: - Not for that we have dominion over your faith, but are helpers of your joy: for by faith ye stand. 2 Cor. 1:24 - For if I have boasted any thing to him of you, I am not ashamed; but as we spake all things to you in truth, even so our boasting, which I made before Titus, is found a truth. 2 Cor. 7:14 - Therefore I write these things being absent, lest being present I should use sharpness, according to the power which the Lord hath given me to edification, and not to destruction. 2 Cor. 13:10 9. That I may not seem as if I would terrify you by letters. - Therefore judge nothing before the time, until the Lord come, who both will bring to light the hidden things of darkness, and will make manifest the counsels of the hearts: and then shall every man have praise of God. 1 Cor. 4:5 - But I will come to you shortly, if the Lord will, and will know, not the speech of them which are puffed up, but the power. 1 Cor. 4:19 - What will ye? shall I come unto you with a rod, or in love, and in the spirit of meekness? 1 Cor. 4:21 10. For his letters, say they, are weighty and powerful; but his bodily presence is weak, and his speech contemptible. - For Christ sent me not to baptize, but to preach the gospel: not with wisdom of words, lest the cross of Christ should be made of none effect. 1 Cor. 1:17 - And I was with you in weakness, and in fear, and in much trembling. 1 Cor. 2:3 - But though I be rude in speech, yet not in knowledge; but we have been throughly made manifest among you in all things. 2 Cor. 11:6 11. Let such an one think this, that, such as we are in word by letters when we are absent, such will we be also in deed when we are present. - But I will come to you shortly, if the Lord will, and will know, not the speech of them which are puffed up, but the power. 1 Cor. 4:19 - For I fear, lest, when I come, I shall not find you such as I would, and that I shall be found unto you such as ye would not: lest there be debates, envyings, wraths, strifes, backbitings, whisperings, swellings, tumults: 2 Cor. 12:20 - I told you before, and foretell you, as if I were present, the second time; and being absent now I write to them which heretofore have sinned, and to all other, that, if I come again, I will not spare: 2 Cor. 13:2 12. For we dare not make ourselves of the number, or compare ourselves with some that commend themselves: but they measuring themselves by themselves, and comparing themselves among themselves, are not wise. - Let another man praise thee, and not thine own mouth; a stranger, and not thine own lips. Rom. 12:3 - Yea, so have I strived to preach the gospel, not where Christ was named, lest I should build upon another man's foundation: Rom. 15:20 14. For we stretch not ourselves beyond our measure, as though we reached not unto you: for we are come as far as to you also in preaching the gospel of Christ: - But none of these things move me, neither count I my life dear unto myself, so that I might finish my course with joy, and the ministry, which I have received of the Lord Jesus, to testify the gospel of the grace of God. Acts 20:24 - I have planted, Apollos watered; but God gave the increase. 1 Cor. 3:6 - For though ye have ten thousand instructers in Christ, yet have ye not many fathers: for in Christ Jesus I have begotten you through the gospel. 1 Cor. 4:15 15. To preach the gospel in the regions beyond you, and not to boast in another man's line of things made ready to our hand. - After these things were ended, Paul purposed in the spirit, when he had passed through Macedonia and Achaia, to go to Jerusalem, saying, After I have been there, I must also see Rome. Acts 19:21 - Whensoever I take my journey into Spain, I will come to you: for I trust to see you in my journey, and to be brought on my way thitherward by you, if first I be somewhat filled with your company.
