↥ 2 Cor. 12NT with xrefs 1. It is not expedient for me doubtless to glory. I will come to visions and revelations of the Lord. - And he said, Who art thou, Lord? And the Lord said, I am Jesus whom thou persecutest: it is hard for thee to kick against the pricks. Acts 9:5 - Then spake the Lord to Paul in the night by a vision, Be not afraid, but speak, and hold not thy peace: Acts 18:9 - For I neither received it of man, neither was I taught it, but by the revelation of Jesus Christ. Gal. 1:12 2. I knew a man in Christ above fourteen years ago, (whether in the body, I cannot tell; or whether out of the body, I cannot tell: God knoweth;) such an one caught up to the third heaven. - And when they were come up out of the water, the Spirit of the Lord caught away Philip, that the eunuch saw him no more: and he went on his way rejoicing. Acts 8:39 - And it came to pass, that, when I was come again to Jerusalem, even while I prayed in the temple, I was in a trance; Acts 22:17 - Then we which are alive and remain shall be caught up together with them in the clouds, to meet the Lord in the air: and so shall we ever be with the Lord. 1 Thess. 4:17 3. And I knew such a man, (whether in the body, or out of the body, I cannot tell: God knoweth;) - And the Spirit of the LORD will come upon thee, and thou shalt prophesy with them, and shalt be turned into another man. 1 Sam. 10:6 - I was in the city of Joppa praying: and in a trance I saw a vision, A certain vessel descend, as it had been a great sheet, let down from heaven by four corners; and it came even to me: Acts 11:5 - And he went out, and followed him; and wist not that it was true which was done by the angel; but thought he saw a vision. Acts 12:9 4. How that he was caught up into paradise, and heard unspeakable words, which it is not lawful for a man to utter. - And Jesus said unto him, Verily I say unto thee, To day shalt thou be with me in paradise. Luke 23:43 - If I have told you earthly things, and ye believe not, how shall ye believe, if I tell you of heavenly things? John 3:12 - He that hath an ear, let him hear what the Spirit saith unto the churches; To him that overcometh will I give to eat of the tree of life, which is in the midst of the paradise of God. Rev. 2:7 5. Of such an one will I glory: yet of myself I will not glory, but in mine infirmities. - And I was with you in weakness, and in fear, and in much trembling. 1 Cor. 2:3 - If I must needs glory, I will glory of the things which concern mine infirmities. 2 Cor. 11:30 - For though he was crucified through weakness, yet he liveth by the power of God. For we also are weak in him, but we shall live with him by the power of God toward you. 2 Cor. 13:4 6. For though I would desire to glory, I shall not be a fool; for I will say the truth: but now I forbear, lest any man should think of me above that which he seeth me to be, or that he heareth of me. - I say the truth in Christ, I lie not, my conscience also bearing me witness in the Holy Ghost, Rom. 9:1 - For though I should boast somewhat more of our authority, which the Lord hath given us for edification, and not for your destruction, I should not be ashamed: 2 Cor. 10:8 - I say again, Let no man think me a fool; if otherwise, yet as a fool receive me, that I may boast myself a little. 2 Cor. 11:16 7. And lest I should be exalted above measure through the abundance of the revelations, there was given to me a thorn in the flesh, the messenger of Satan to buffet me, lest I should be exalted above measure. - And when he saw that he prevailed not against him, he touched the hollow of his thigh; and the hollow of Jacob's thigh was out of joint, as he wrestled with him. Gen. 32:25 - So went Satan forth from the presence of the LORD, and smote Job with sore boils from the sole of his foot unto his crown. Job 2:7 - And I was with you in weakness, and in fear, and in much trembling. 1 Cor. 2:3 8. For this thing I besought the Lord thrice, that it might depart from me. - It repenteth me that I have set up Saul to be king: for he is turned back from following me, and hath not performed my commandments. And it grieved Samuel; and he cried unto the LORD all night. 1 Sam. 15:11 - David therefore besought God for the child; and David fasted, and went in, and lay all night upon the earth. 2 Sam. 12:16 - And he left them, and went away again, and prayed the third time, saying the same words. Matt. 26:44 9. And he said unto me, My grace is sufficient for thee: for my strength is made perfect in weakness. Most gladly therefore will I rather glory in my infirmities, that the power of Christ may rest upon me. - If I must needs glory, I will glory of the things which concern mine infirmities. 2 Cor. 11:30 - Ye know how through infirmity of the flesh I preached the gospel unto you at the first. Gal. 4:13 - I can do all things through Christ which strengtheneth me. Phil. 4:13 10. Therefore I take pleasure in infirmities, in reproaches, in necessities, in persecutions, in distresses for Christ's sake: for when I am weak, then am I strong. - And not only so, but we glory in tribulations also: knowing that tribulation worketh patience; Rom. 5:3 - But in all things approving ourselves as the ministers of God, in much patience, in afflictions, in necessities, in distresses, 2 Cor. 6:4 - For though he was crucified through weakness, yet he liveth by the power of God. For we also are weak in him, but we shall live with him by the power of God toward you. 2 Cor. 13:4 11. I am become a fool in glorying; ye have compelled me: for I ought to have been commended of you: for in nothing am I behind the very chiefest apostles, though I be nothing. - Would to God ye could bear with me a little in my folly: and indeed bear with me. 2 Cor. 11:1 - For I suppose I was not a whit behind the very chiefest apostles. 2 Cor. 11:5 - Unto me, who am less than the least of all saints, is this grace given, that I should preach among the Gentiles the unsearchable riches of Christ; Eph. 3:8 12. Truly the signs of an apostle were wrought among you in all patience, in signs, and wonders, and mighty deeds. - And these signs shall follow them that believe; In my name shall they cast out devils; they shall speak with new tongues; Mark 16:17 - Through mighty signs and wonders, by the power of the Spirit of God; so that from Jerusalem, and round about unto Illyricum, I have fully preached the gospel of Christ. Rom. 15:19 - If I be not an apostle unto others, yet doubtless I am to you: for the seal of mine apostleship are ye in the Lord. 1 Cor. 9:2 13. For what is it wherein ye were inferior to other churches, except it be that I myself was not burdensome to you? forgive me this wrong. - Yea, ye yourselves know, that these hands have ministered unto my necessities, and to them that were with me. Acts 20:34 - If others be partakers of this power over you, are not we rather? Nevertheless we have not used this power; but suffer all things, lest we should hinder the gospel of Christ. 1 Cor. 9:12 - I robbed other churches, taking wages of them, to do you service. 2 Cor. 11:8 14. Behold, the third time I am ready to come to you; and I will not be burdensome to you: for I seek not your's but you: for the children ought not to lay up for the parents, but the parents for the children. - I have coveted no man's silver, or gold, or apparel. Acts 20:33 - For though ye have ten thousand instructers in Christ, yet have ye not many fathers: for in Christ Jesus I have begotten you through the gospel. 1 Cor. 4:15 - This is the third time I am coming to you. In the mouth of two or three witnesses shall every word be established. 2 Cor. 13:1 15. And I will very gladly spend and be spent for you; though the more abundantly I love you, the less I be loved. - Ye are not straitened in us, but ye are straitened in your own bowels. 2 Cor. 6:12 - Yea, and if I be offered upon the sacrifice and service of your faith, I joy, and rejoice with you all. Phil. 2:17 - So being affectionately desirous of you, we were willing to have imparted unto you, not the gospel of God only, but also our own souls, because ye were dear unto us. 1 Thess. 2:8 16. But be it so, I did not burden you: nevertheless, being crafty, I caught you with guile. - But have renounced the hidden things of dishonesty, not walking in craftiness, nor handling the word of God deceitfully; but by manifestation of the truth commending ourselves to every man's conscience in the sight of God. 2 Cor. 4:2 - Receive us; we have wronged no man, we have corrupted no man, we have defrauded no man. 2 Cor. 7:2 - For our exhortation was not of deceit, nor of uncleanness, nor in guile: 1 Thess. 2:3 17. Did I make a gain of you by any of them whom I sent unto you? - But he said, As the LORD liveth, before whom I stand, I will receive none. And he urged him to take it; but he refused. 2 Kings 5:16 - But Gehazi, the servant of Elisha the man of God, said, Behold, my master hath spared Naaman this Syrian, in not receiving at his hands that which he brought: but, as the LORD liveth, I will run after him, and take somewhat of him. 2 Kings 5:20 - For this cause have I sent unto you Timotheus, who is my beloved son, and faithful in the Lord, who shall bring you into remembrance of my ways which be in Christ, as I teach every where in every church. 1 Cor. 4:17 18. I desired Titus, and with him I sent a brother. Did Titus make a gain of you? walked we not in the same spirit? walked we not in the same steps? - And Moses was very wroth, and said unto the LORD, Respect not thou their offering: I have not taken one ass from them, neither have I hurt one of them. Num. 16:15 - Insomuch that we desired Titus, that as he had begun, so he would also finish in you the same grace also. 2 Cor. 8:6 - And we have sent with him the brother, whose praise is in the gospel throughout all the churches; 2 Cor. 8:18 19. Again, think ye that we excuse ourselves unto you? we speak before God in Christ: but we do all things, dearly beloved, for your edifying. - For we are not as many, which corrupt the word of God: but as of sincerity, but as of God, in the sight of God speak we in Christ. 2 Cor. 2:17 - Do we begin again to commend ourselves? or need we, as some others, epistles of commendation to you, or letters of commendation from you? 2 Cor. 3:1 - For we commend not ourselves again unto you, but give you occasion to glory on our behalf, that ye may have somewhat to answer them which glory in appearance, and not in heart. 2 Cor. 5:12 20. For I fear, lest, when I come, I shall not find you such as I would, and that I shall be found unto you such as ye would not: lest there be debates, envyings, wraths, strifes, backbitings, whisperings, swellings, tumults: - Being filled with all unrighteousness, fornication, wickedness, covetousness, maliciousness; full of envy, murder, debate, deceit, malignity; whisperers, Rom. 1:29 - For it hath been declared unto me of you, my brethren, by them which are of the house of Chloe, that there are contentions among you. 1 Cor. 1:11 - For ye are yet carnal: for whereas there is among you envying, and strife, and divisions, are ye not carnal, and walk as men? 1 Cor. 3:3 21. And lest, when I come again, my God will humble me among you, and that I shall bewail many which have sinned already, and have not repented of the uncleanness and fornication and lasciviousness which they have committed. - It is reported commonly that there is fornication among you, and such fornication as is not so much as named among the Gentiles, that one should have his father's wife. 1 Cor. 5:1 - And I wrote this same unto you, lest, when I came, I should have sorrow from them of whom I ought to rejoice; having confidence in you all, that my joy is the joy of you all. 2 Cor. 2:3 - Therefore I write these things being absent, lest being present I should use sharpness, according to the power which the Lord hath given me to edification, and not to destruction. 2 Cor. 13:10 |
