We then, as workers together with him, beseech you also that ye receive not the grace of God in vain. - For we are labourers together with God: ye are God's husbandry, ye are God's building. 1 Cor. 3:9 - But by the grace of God I am what I am: and his grace which was bestowed upon me was not in vain; but I laboured more abundantly than they all: yet not I, but the grace of God which was with me. 1 Cor. 15:10 - Looking diligently lest any man fail of the grace of God; lest any root of bitterness springing up trouble you, and thereby many be defiled; Heb. 12:15 2. (For he saith, I have heard thee in a time accepted, and in the day of salvation have I succoured thee: behold, now is the accepted time; behold, now is the day of salvation.) - Thus saith the LORD, In an acceptable time have I heard thee, and in a day of salvation have I helped thee: and I will preserve thee, and give thee for a covenant of the people, to establish the earth, to cause to inherit the desolate heritages; Isa. 49:8 - To proclaim the acceptable year of the LORD, and the day of vengeance of our God; to comfort all that mourn; Isa. 61:2 - But exhort one another daily, while it is called To day; lest any of you be hardened through the deceitfulness of sin. Heb. 3:13 3. Giving no offence in any thing, that the ministry be not blamed: - Notwithstanding, lest we should offend them, go thou to the sea, and cast an hook, and take up the fish that first cometh up; and when thou hast opened his mouth, thou shalt find a piece of money: that take, and give unto them for me and thee. Matt. 17:27 - Let us not therefore judge one another any more: but judge this rather, that no man put a stumblingblock or an occasion to fall in his brother's way. Rom. 14:13 - Give none offence, neither to the Jews, nor to the Gentiles, nor to the church of God: 1 Cor. 10:32 4. But in all things approving ourselves as the ministers of God, in much patience, in afflictions, in necessities, in distresses, - And now I exhort you to be of good cheer: for there shall be no loss of any man's life among you, but of the ship. Acts 27:22 - Who then is Paul, and who is Apollos, but ministers by whom ye believed, even as the Lord gave to every man? 1 Cor. 3:5 - Even unto this present hour we both hunger, and thirst, and are naked, and are buffeted, and have no certain dwellingplace; 1 Cor. 4:11 5. In stripes, in imprisonments, in tumults, in labours, in watchings, in fastings; - And when they had laid many stripes upon them, they cast them into prison, charging the jailor to keep them safely: Acts 16:23 - But the Jews which believed not, moved with envy, took unto them certain lewd fellows of the baser sort, and gathered a company, and set all the city on an uproar, and assaulted the house of Jason, and sought to bring them out to the people. By pureness, by knowledge, by longsuffering, by kindness, by the Holy Ghost, by love unfeigned, - Let love be without dissimulation. Abhor that which is evil; cleave to that which is good. Rom. 12:9 - But the fruit of the Spirit is love, joy, peace, longsuffering, gentleness, goodness, faith, Gal. 5:22 - Put on therefore, as the elect of God, holy and beloved, bowels of mercies, kindness, humbleness of mind, meekness, longsuffering; Col. 3:12 7. By the word of truth, by the power of God, by the armour of righteousness on the right hand and on the left, - And my speech and my preaching was not with enticing words of man's wisdom, but in demonstration of the Spirit and of power: 1 Cor. 2:4 - (For the weapons of our warfare are not carnal, but mighty through God to the pulling down of strong holds;) 2 Cor. 10:4 - Put on the whole armour of God, that ye may be able to stand against the wiles of the devil. Eph. 6:11 8. By honour and dishonour, by evil report and good report: as deceivers, and yet true; - Blessed are ye, when men shall revile you, and persecute you, and shall say all manner of evil against you falsely, for my sake. Matt. 5:11 - Saying, Sir, we remember that that deceiver said, while he was yet alive, After three days I will rise again. Matt. 27:63 - But have renounced the hidden things of dishonesty, not walking in craftiness, nor handling the word of God deceitfully; but by manifestation of the truth commending ourselves to every man's conscience in the sight of God. 2 Cor. 4:2 9. As unknown, and yet well known; as dying, and, behold, we live; as chastened, and not killed; - As it is written, For thy sake we are killed all the day long; we are accounted as sheep for the slaughter. Rom. 8:36 - Persecuted, but not forsaken; cast down, but not destroyed; 2 Cor. 4:9 - For we which live are alway delivered unto death for Jesus' sake, that the life also of Jesus might be made manifest in our mortal flesh. 2 Cor. 4:11 10. As sorrowful, yet alway rejoicing; as poor, yet making many rich; as having nothing, and yet possessing all things. - And ye now therefore have sorrow: but I will see you again, and your heart shall rejoice, and your joy no man taketh from you. John 16:22 - For ye know the grace of our Lord Jesus Christ, that, though he was rich, yet for your sakes he became poor, that ye through his poverty might be rich. 2 Cor. 8:9 - Rejoice in the Lord alway: and again I say, Rejoice. Phil. 4:4 11. O ye Corinthians, our mouth is open unto you, our heart is enlarged. - I will run the way of thy commandments, when thou shalt enlarge my heart. Ps. 119:32 - Then thou shalt see, and flow together, and thine heart shall fear, and be enlarged; because the abundance of the sea shall be converted unto thee, the forces of the Gentiles shall come unto thee. Isa. 60:5 - I speak not this to condemn you: for I have said before, that ye are in our hearts to die and live with you. 2 Cor. 7:3 12. Ye are not straitened in us, but ye are straitened in your own bowels. - Receive us; we have wronged no man, we have corrupted no man, we have defrauded no man. 2 Cor. 7:2 - And I will very gladly spend and be spent for you; though the more abundantly I love you, the less I be loved. 2 Cor. 12:15 - For God is my record, how greatly I long after you all in the bowels of Jesus Christ. Phil. 1:8 13. Now for a recompence in the same, (I speak as unto my children,) be ye also enlarged. - And I, brethren, could not speak unto you as unto spiritual, but as unto carnal, even as unto babes in Christ. 1 Cor. 3:1 - I write not these things to shame you, but as my beloved sons I warn you. 1 Cor. 4:14 - My little children, of whom I travail in birth again until Christ be formed in you, Gal. 4:19 14. Be ye not unequally yoked together with unbelievers: for what fellowship hath righteousness with unrighteousness? and what communion hath light with darkness? - Neither shalt thou make marriages with them; thy daughter thou shalt not give unto his son, nor his daughter shalt thou take unto thy son. Deut. 7:3 - Do not I hate them, O LORD, that hate thee? and am not I grieved with those that rise up against thee? Ps. 139:21 - Be not deceived: evil communications corrupt good manners. 1 Cor. 15:33 15. And what concord hath Christ with Belial? or what part hath he that believeth with an infidel? - And Elijah came unto all the people, and said, How long halt ye between two opinions? if the LORD be God, follow him: but if Baal, then follow him. And the people answered him not a word. 1 Kings 18:21 - But when the Pharisees heard it, they said, This fellow doth not cast out devils, but by Beelzebub the prince of the devils. Matt. 12:24 - Ye cannot drink the cup of the Lord, and the cup of devils: ye cannot be partakers of the Lord's table, and of the table of devils. 1 Cor. 10:21 16. And what agreement hath the temple of God with idols? for ye are the temple of the living God; as God hath said, I will dwell in them, and walk in them; and I will be their God, and they shall be my people. - And I will walk among you, and will be your God, and ye shall be my people. Lev. 26:12 - But this shall be the covenant that I will make with the house of Israel; After those days, saith the LORD, I will put my law in their inward parts, and write it in their hearts; and will be their God, and they shall be my people. Jer. 31:33 - What? know ye not that your body is the temple of the Holy Ghost which is in you, which ye have of God, and ye are not your own? 1 Cor. 6:19 17. Wherefore come out from among them, and be ye separate, saith the Lord, and touch not the unclean thing; and I will receive you. - Depart ye, depart ye, go ye out from thence, touch no unclean thing; go ye out of the midst of her; be ye clean, that bear the vessels of the LORD. Isa. 52:11 - Having therefore these promises, dearly beloved, let us cleanse ourselves from all filthiness of the flesh and spirit, perfecting holiness in the fear of God. 2 Cor. 7:1 - And I heard another voice from heaven, saying, Come out of her, my people, that ye be not partakers of her sins, and that ye receive not of her plagues. Rev. 18:4 18. And will be a Father unto you, and ye shall be my sons and daughters, saith the Lord Almighty. - I will say to the north, Give up; and to the south, Keep not back: bring my sons from far, and my daughters from the ends of the earth; Isa. 43:6 - They shall come with weeping, and with supplications will I lead them: I will cause them to walk by the rivers of waters in a straight way, wherein they shall not stumble: for I am a father to Israel, and Ephraim is my firstborn.
