Thou therefore, my son, be strong in the grace that is in Christ Jesus. - He staggered not at the promise of God through unbelief; but was strong in faith, giving glory to God; Rom. 4:20 - Finally, my brethren, be strong in the Lord, and in the power of his might. Eph. 6:10 - I can do all things through Christ which strengtheneth me. Phil. 4:13 2. And the things that thou hast heard of me among many witnesses, the same commit thou to faithful men, who shall be able to teach others also. - Moreover it is required in stewards, that a man be found faithful. 1 Cor. 4:2 - But continue thou in the things which thou hast learned and hast been assured of, knowing of whom thou hast learned them; 2 Tim. 3:14 - For this cause left I thee in Crete, that thou shouldest set in order the things that are wanting, and ordain elders in every city, as I had appointed thee: Titus 1:5 3. Thou therefore endure hardness, as a good soldier of Jesus Christ. - This charge I commit unto thee, son Timothy, according to the prophecies which went before on thee, that thou by them mightest war a good warfare; 1 Tim. 1:18 - Be not thou therefore ashamed of the testimony of our Lord, nor of me his prisoner: but be thou partaker of the afflictions of the gospel according to the power of God; 2 Tim. 1:8 - But watch thou in all things, endure afflictions, do the work of an evangelist, make full proof of thy ministry. 2 Tim. 4:5 4. No man that warreth entangleth himself with the affairs of this life; that he may please him who hath chosen him to be a soldier. - And that which fell among thorns are they, which, when they have heard, go forth, and are choked with cares and riches and pleasures of this life, and bring no fruit to perfection. Luke 8:14 - Who goeth a warfare any time at his own charges? who planteth a vineyard, and eateth not of the fruit thereof? or who feedeth a flock, and eateth not of the milk of the flock? 1 Cor. 9:7 - Wherefore we labour, that, whether present or absent, we may be accepted of him. 2 Cor. 5:9 5. And if a man also strive for masteries, yet is he not crowned, except he strive lawfully. - Strive to enter in at the strait gate: for many, I say unto you, will seek to enter in, and shall not be able. Rev. 2:10 6. The husbandman that laboureth must be first partaker of the fruits. - And he that reapeth receiveth wages, and gathereth fruit unto life eternal: that both he that soweth and he that reapeth may rejoice together. John 4:36 - Now he that planteth and he that watereth are one: and every man shall receive his own reward according to his own labour. 1 Cor. 3:8 - Who goeth a warfare any time at his own charges? who planteth a vineyard, and eateth not of the fruit thereof? or who feedeth a flock, and eateth not of the milk of the flock? 1 Cor. 9:7 7. Consider what I say; and the Lord give thee understanding in all things. - May be able to comprehend with all saints what is the breadth, and length, and depth, and height; Eph. 3:18 - For this cause we also, since the day we heard it, do not cease to pray for you, and to desire that ye might be filled with the knowledge of his will in all wisdom and spiritual understanding; Col. 1:9 - If any of you lack wisdom, let him ask of God, that giveth to all men liberally, and upbraideth not; and it shall be given him. James 1:5 8. Remember that Jesus Christ of the seed of David was raised from the dead according to my gospel: - Concerning his Son Jesus Christ our Lord, which was made of the seed of David according to the flesh; Rom. 1:3 - Who was delivered for our offences, and was raised again for our justification. Rom. 4:25 - Looking unto Jesus the author and finisher of our faith; who for the joy that was set before him endured the cross, despising the shame, and is set down at the right hand of the throne of God. Heb. 12:2 9. Wherein I suffer trouble, as an evil doer, even unto bonds; but the word of God is not bound. - Preaching the kingdom of God, and teaching those things which concern the Lord Jesus Christ, with all confidence, no man forbidding him. Acts 28:31 - For I am not ashamed of the gospel of Christ: for it is the power of God unto salvation to every one that believeth; to the Jew first, and also to the Greek. Rom. 1:16 - For the word of God is quick, and powerful, and sharper than any twoedged sword, piercing even to the dividing asunder of soul and spirit, and of the joints and marrow, and is a discerner of the thoughts and intents of the heart. Heb. 4:12 10. Therefore I endure all things for the elect's sakes, that they may also obtain the salvation which is in Christ Jesus with eternal glory. - For I could wish that myself were accursed from Christ for my brethren, my kinsmen according to the flesh: Rom. 9:3 - Yea, and if I be offered upon the sacrifice and service of your faith, I joy, and rejoice with you all. Phil. 2:17 - Who now rejoice in my sufferings for you, and fill up that which is behind of the afflictions of Christ in my flesh for his body's sake, which is the church: Col. 1:24 11. It is a faithful saying: For if we be dead with him, we shall also live with him: - Therefore we are buried with him by baptism into death: that like as Christ was raised up from the dead by the glory of the Father, even so we also should walk in newness of life. Rom. 6:4 - Now if we be dead with Christ, we believe that we shall also live with him: Rom. 6:8 - Always bearing about in the body the dying of the Lord Jesus, that the life also of Jesus might be made manifest in our body. 2 Cor. 4:10 12. If we suffer, we shall also reign with him: if we deny him, he also will deny us: - And he went out to meet Asa, and said unto him, Hear ye me, Asa, and all Judah and Benjamin; The LORD is with you, while ye be with him; and if ye seek him, he will be found of you; but if ye forsake him, he will forsake you. 2 Chron. 15:2 - But whosoever shall deny me before men, him will I also deny before my Father which is in heaven. Matt. 19:28 13. If we believe not, yet he abideth faithful: he cannot deny himself. - God is not a man, that he should lie; neither the son of man, that he should repent: hath he said, and shall he not do it? or hath he spoken, and shall he not make it good? Num. 23:19 - And whosoever speaketh a word against the Son of man, it shall be forgiven him: but whosoever speaketh against the Holy Ghost, it shall not be forgiven him, neither in this world, neither in the world to come. Matt. 12:32 - For what if some did not believe? shall their unbelief make the faith of God without effect? Rom. 3:3 14. Of these things put them in remembrance, charging them before the Lord that they strive not about words to no profit, but to the subverting of the hearers. - He is proud, knowing nothing, but doting about questions and strifes of words, whereof cometh envy, strife, railings, evil surmisings, 1 Tim. 6:4 - But foolish and unlearned questions avoid, knowing that they do gender strifes. 2 Tim. 2:23 - But avoid foolish questions, and genealogies, and contentions, and strivings about the law; for they are unprofitable and vain. Grace be with thee. Amen. 1 Tim. 6:21 - Not giving heed to Jewish fables, and commandments of men, that turn from the truth. Titus 1:14 17. Nevertheless the foundation of God standeth sure, having this seal, The Lord knoweth them that are his. But in a great house there are not only vessels of gold and of silver, but also of wood and of earth; and some to honour, and some to dishonour. - The precious sons of Zion, comparable to fine gold, how are they esteemed as earthen pitchers, the work of the hands of the potter! Lam. 4:2 - Hath not the potter power over the clay, of the same lump to make one vessel unto honour, and another unto dishonour? Rom. 9:21 - But we have this treasure in earthen vessels, that the excellency of the power may be of God, and not of us. 2 Cor. 4:7 21. If a man therefore purge himself from these, he shall be a vessel unto honour, sanctified, and meet for the master's use, and prepared unto every good work. - Therefore thus saith the LORD, If thou return, then will I bring thee again, and thou shalt stand before me: and if thou take forth the precious from the vile, thou shalt be as my mouth: let them return unto thee; but return not thou unto them.
