This know also, that in the last days perilous times shall come. - For then shall be great tribulation, such as was not since the beginning of the world to this time, no, nor ever shall be. Matt. 24:21 - Now the Spirit speaketh expressly, that in the latter times some shall depart from the faith, giving heed to seducing spirits, and doctrines of devils; 1 Tim. 4:1 - Knowing this first, that there shall come in the last days scoffers, walking after their own lusts, 2 Pet. 3:3 2. For men shall be lovers of their own selves, covetous, boasters, proud, blasphemers, disobedient to parents, unthankful, unholy, - For the wicked boasteth of his heart's desire, and blesseth the covetous, whom the LORD abhorreth. Ps. 10:3 - Being filled with all unrighteousness, fornication, wickedness, covetousness, maliciousness; full of envy, murder, debate, deceit, malignity; whisperers, Rom. 1:29 - Backbiters, haters of God, despiteful, proud, boasters, inventors of evil things, disobedient to parents, Rom. 1:30 3. Without natural affection, trucebreakers, false accusers, incontinent, fierce, despisers of those that are good, - Without understanding, covenantbreakers, without natural affection, implacable, unmerciful: Rom. 1:31 - Even so must their wives be grave, not slanderers, sober, faithful in all things. 1 Tim. 3:11 - But a lover of hospitality, a lover of good men, sober, just, holy, temperate; Titus 1:8 4. Traitors, heady, highminded, lovers of pleasures more than lovers of God; - Whose end is destruction, whose God is their belly, and whose glory is in their shame, who mind earthly things.) Phil. 3:19 - Not a novice, lest being lifted up with pride he fall into the condemnation of the devil. 1 Tim. 3:6 - These be they who separate themselves, sensual, having not the Spirit. Jude 1:19 5. Having a form of godliness, but denying the power thereof: from such turn away. - This people draweth nigh unto me with their mouth, and honoureth me with their lips; but their heart is far from me. Matt. 15:8 - Now I beseech you, brethren, mark them which cause divisions and offences contrary to the doctrine which ye have learned; and avoid them. Rom. 16:17 - They profess that they know God; but in works they deny him, being abominable, and disobedient, and unto every good work reprobate. Titus 1:16 6. For of this sort are they which creep into houses, and lead captive silly women laden with sins, led away with divers lusts, - Whose mouths must be stopped, who subvert whole houses, teaching things which they ought not, for filthy lucre's sake. Titus 1:11 - For when they speak great swelling words of vanity, they allure through the lusts of the flesh, through much wantonness, those that were clean escaped from them who live in error. 2 Pet. 2:18 - For there are certain men crept in unawares, who were before of old ordained to this condemnation, ungodly men, turning the grace of our God into lasciviousness, and denying the only Lord God, and our Lord Jesus Christ. Jude 1:4 7. Ever learning, and never able to come to the knowledge of the truth. - Which say to the seers, See not; and to the prophets, Prophesy not unto us right things, speak unto us smooth things, prophesy deceits: Isa. 30:10 - For the time will come when they will not endure sound doctrine; but after their own lusts shall they heap to themselves teachers, having itching ears; 2 Tim. 4:3 - Of whom we have many things to say, and hard to be uttered, seeing ye are dull of hearing. Heb. 5:11 8. Now as Jannes and Jambres withstood Moses, so do these also resist the truth: men of corrupt minds, reprobate concerning the faith. - Then Pharaoh also called the wise men and the sorcerers: now the magicians of Egypt, they also did in like manner with their enchantments. Ex. 7:11 - But Elymas the sorcerer (for so is his name by interpretation) withstood them, seeking to turn away the deputy from the faith. But thou hast fully known my doctrine, manner of life, purpose, faith, longsuffering, charity, patience, - Brethren, be followers together of me, and mark them which walk so as ye have us for an ensample. Phil. 3:17 - If thou put the brethren in remembrance of these things, thou shalt be a good minister of Jesus Christ, nourished up in the words of faith and of good doctrine, whereunto thou hast attained. 1 Tim. 4:6 - Remember them which have the rule over you, who have spoken unto you the word of God: whose faith follow, considering the end of their conversation. Heb. 13:7 11. Persecutions, afflictions, which came unto me at Antioch, at Iconium, at Lystra; what persecutions I endured: but out of them all the Lord delivered me. - Many are the afflictions of the righteous: but the LORD delivereth him out of them all. Ps. 34:19 - And there came thither certain Jews from Antioch and Iconium, who persuaded the people, and having stoned Paul, drew him out of the city, supposing he had been dead. Acts 14:19 - Who delivered us from so great a death, and doth deliver: in whom we trust that he will yet deliver us; 2 Cor. 1:10 12. Yea, and all that will live godly in Christ Jesus shall suffer persecution. - Remember the word that I said unto you, The servant is not greater than his lord. If they have persecuted me, they will also persecute you; if they have kept my saying, they will keep yours also. John 15:20 - They shall put you out of the synagogues: yea, the time cometh, that whosoever killeth you will think that he doeth God service. John 16:2 - Whom resist stedfast in the faith, knowing that the same afflictions are accomplished in your brethren that are in the world. 1 Pet. 5:9 13. But evil men and seducers shall wax worse and worse, deceiving, and being deceived. - And that we may be delivered from unreasonable and wicked men: for all men have not faith. 2 Thess. 3:2 - But shun profane and vain babblings: for they will increase unto more ungodliness. 2 Tim. 2:16 - And blasphemed the God of heaven because of their pains and their sores, and repented not of their deeds. Rev. 16:11 14. But continue thou in the things which thou hast learned and hast been assured of, knowing of whom thou hast learned them; - Take heed unto thyself, and unto the doctrine; continue in them: for in doing this thou shalt both save thyself, and them that hear thee. 1 Tim. 4:16 - Hold fast the form of sound words, which thou hast heard of me, in faith and love which is in Christ Jesus. 2 Tim. 1:13 - And the things that thou hast heard of me among many witnesses, the same commit thou to faithful men, who shall be able to teach others also. 2 Tim. 2:2 15. And that from a child thou hast known the holy scriptures, which are able to make thee wise unto salvation through faith which is in Christ Jesus. - The entrance of thy words giveth light; it giveth understanding unto the simple. Ps. 119:130 - The law of the LORD is perfect, converting the soul: the testimony of the LORD is sure, making wise the simple. Ps. 19:7 - When I call to remembrance the unfeigned faith that is in thee, which dwelt first in thy grandmother Lois, and thy mother Eunice; and I am persuaded that in thee also. 2 Tim. 1:5 16. All scripture is given by inspiration of God, and is profitable for doctrine, for reproof, for correction, for instruction in righteousness: - And beginning at Moses and all the prophets, he expounded unto them in all the scriptures the things concerning himself. Luke 24:27 - For whatsoever things were written aforetime were written for our learning, that we through patience and comfort of the scriptures might have hope. Rom. 15:4 - For the prophecy came not in old time by the will of man: but holy men of God spake as they were moved by the Holy Ghost. 2 Pet. 1:21 17. That the man of God may be perfect, throughly furnished unto all good works. - And be not conformed to this world: but be ye transformed by the renewing of your mind, that ye may prove what is that good, and acceptable, and perfect, will of God. Rom. 12:2 - Wherefore also we pray always for you, that our God would count you worthy of this calling, and fulfil all the good pleasure of his goodness, and the work of faith with power: 2 Thess. 1:11 - If a man therefore purge himself from these, he shall be a vessel unto honour, sanctified, and meet for the master's use, and prepared unto every good work. 2 Tim. 2:21 |
