There was a certain man in Caesarea called Cornelius, a centurion of the band called the Italian band, - And when Jesus was entered into Capernaum, there came unto him a centurion, beseeching him, Matt. 8:5 - And when the centurion, which stood over against him, saw that he so cried out, and gave up the ghost, he said, Truly this man was the Son of God. Mark 15:39 - But Philip was found at Azotus: and passing through he preached in all the cities, till he came to Caesarea. Acts 8:40 2. A devout man, and one that feared God with all his house, which gave much alms to the people, and prayed to God alway. - And there were dwelling at Jerusalem Jews, devout men, out of every nation under heaven. Now therefore are we all here present before God, to hear all things that are commanded thee of God. - These were more noble than those in Thessalonica, in that they received the word with all readiness of mind, and searched the scriptures daily, whether those things were so.
