Acts 6

1. And in those days, when the number of the disciples was multiplied, there arose a murmuring of the Grecians against the Hebrews, because their widows were neglected in the daily ministration.

- Then they that gladly received his word were baptized: and the same day there were added unto them about three thousand souls. Acts 2:41

- Praising God, and having favour with all the people. And the Lord added to the church daily such as should be saved. Acts 2:47

- And laid them down at the apostles' feet: and distribution was made unto every man according as he had need. Acts 4:35

2. Then the twelve called the multitude of the disciples unto them, and said, It is not reason that we should leave the word of God, and serve tables.

- And Moses' father in law said unto him, The thing that thou doest is not good. Ex. 18:17

- And Moses said unto the LORD, Wherefore hast thou afflicted thy servant? and wherefore have I not found favor in thy sight, that thou layest the burden of all this people upon me? Num. 11:11

- And I spake unto you at that time, saying, I am not able to bear you myself alone: Deut. 1:9

3. Wherefore, brethren, look ye out among you seven men of honest report, full of the Holy Ghost and wisdom, whom we may appoint over this business.

- And Pharaoh said unto his servants, Can we find such a one as this is, a man in whom the Spirit of God is? Gen. 41:38

- Take you wise men, and understanding, and known among your tribes, and I will make them rulers over you. Deut. 1:13

- And let these also first be proved; then let them use the office of a deacon, being found blameless. 1 Tim. 3:10

4. But we will give ourselves continually to prayer, and to the ministry of the word.

- These all continued with one accord in prayer and supplication, with the women, and Mary the mother of Jesus, and with his brethren. Acts 1:14

- And they continued stedfastly in the apostles' doctrine and fellowship, and in breaking of bread, and in prayers. Acts 2:42

- Praying always with all prayer and supplication in the Spirit, and watching thereunto with all perseverance and supplication for all saints; Eph. 6:18

5. And the saying pleased the whole multitude: and they chose Stephen, a man full of faith and of the Holy Ghost, and Philip, and Prochorus, and Nicanor, and Timon, and Parmenas, and Nicolas a proselyte of Antioch:

- Then Philip went down to the city of Samaria, and preached Christ unto them. Acts 8:5

- For he was a good man, and full of the Holy Ghost and of faith: and much people was added unto the Lord. Acts 11:24

- And the next day we that were of Paul's company departed, and came unto Caesarea: and we entered into the house of Philip the evangelist, which was one of the seven; and abode with him. Acts 21:8

6. Whom they set before the apostles: and when they had prayed, they laid their hands on them.

- And Ananias went his way, and entered into the house; and putting his hands on him said, Brother Saul, the Lord, even Jesus, that appeared unto thee in the way as thou camest, hath sent me, that thou mightest receive thy sight, and be filled with the Holy Ghost. Acts 9:17

- And when they had fasted and prayed, and laid their hands on them, they sent them away. Acts 13:3

- Neglect not the gift that is in thee, which was given thee by prophecy, with the laying on of the hands of the presbytery. 1 Tim. 4:14

7. And the word of God increased; and the number of the disciples multiplied in Jerusalem greatly; and a great company of the priests were obedient to the faith.

- Praising God, and having favour with all the people. And the Lord added to the church daily such as should be saved. Acts 2:47

- But the word of God grew and multiplied. Acts 12:24

- Which is come unto you, as it is in all the world; and bringeth forth fruit, as it doth also in you, since the day ye heard of it, and knew the grace of God in truth: Col. 1:6

8. And Stephen, full of faith and power, did great wonders and miracles among the people.

- And by the hands of the apostles were many signs and wonders wrought among the people; (and they were all with one accord in Solomon's porch. Acts 5:12

- And all that sat in the council, looking stedfastly on him, saw his face as it had been the face of an angel. Acts 6:15

- And the people with one accord gave heed unto those things which Philip spake, hearing and seeing the miracles which he did. Acts 8:6

9. Then there arose certain of the synagogue, which is called the synagogue of the Libertines, and Cyrenians, and Alexandrians, and of them of Cilicia and of Asia, disputing with Stephen.

- But when the Jews saw the multitudes, they were filled with envy, and spake against those things which were spoken by Paul, contradicting and blaspheming. Acts 13:45

- Then certain philosophers of the Epicureans, and of the Stoicks, encountered him. And some said, What will this babbler say? other some, He seemeth to be a setter forth of strange gods: because he preached unto them Jesus, and the resurrection. Acts 17:18

- I am verily a man which am a Jew, born in Tarsus, a city in Cilicia, yet brought up in this city at the feet of Gamaliel, and taught according to the perfect manner of the law of the fathers, and was zealous toward God, as ye all are this day. Acts 22:3

10. And they were not able to resist the wisdom and the spirit by which he spake.

- Now therefore go, and I will be with thy mouth, and teach thee what thou shalt say. Ex. 4:12

- No weapon that is formed against thee shall prosper; and every tongue that shall rise against thee in judgment thou shalt condemn. This is the heritage of the servants of the LORD, and their righteousness is of me, saith the LORD. Isa. 54:17

- For I will give you a mouth and wisdom, which all your adversaries shall not be able to gainsay nor resist. Luke 21:15

11. Then they suborned men, which said, We have heard him speak blasphemous words against Moses, and against God.

- And he that blasphemeth the name of the LORD, he shall surely be put to death, and all the congregation shall certainly stone him: as well the stranger, as he that is born in the land, when he blasphemeth the name of the Lord, shall be put to death. Lev. 24:16

- And set two men, sons of Belial, before him, to bear witness against him, saying, Thou didst blaspheme God and the king. And then carry him out, and stone him, that he may die. 1 Kings 21:10

- Now the chief priests, and elders, and all the council, sought false witness against Jesus, to put him to death; Matt. 26:59

12. And they stirred up the people, and the elders, and the scribes, and came upon him, and caught him, and brought him to the council,

- A wrathful man stirreth up strife: but he that is slow to anger appeaseth strife. Prov. 15:18

- But I say unto you, That whosoever is angry with his brother without a cause shall be in danger of the judgment: and whosoever shall say to his brother, Raca, shall be in danger of the council: but whosoever shall say, Thou fool, shall be in danger of hell fire. Matt. 5:22

- And they that had laid hold on Jesus led him away to Caiaphas the high priest, where the scribes and the elders were assembled. Matt. 26:57

13. And set up false witnesses, which said, This man ceaseth not to speak blasphemous words against this holy place, and the law:

- Deliver me not over unto the will of mine enemies: for false witnesses are risen up against me, and such as breathe out cruelty. Ps. 27:12

- A false witness shall not be unpunished, and he that speaketh lies shall not escape. Prov. 19:5

- Crying out, Men of Israel, help: This is the man, that teacheth all men every where against the people, and the law, and this place: and further brought Greeks also into the temple, and hath polluted this holy place. Acts 21:28

14. For we have heard him say, that this Jesus of Nazareth shall destroy this place, and shall change the customs which Moses delivered us.

- And said, This fellow said, I am able to destroy the temple of God, and to build it in three days. Matt. 26:61

- And certain men which came down from Judaea taught the brethren, and said, Except ye be circumcised after the manner of Moses, ye cannot be saved. Acts 15:1

- And they are informed of thee, that thou teachest all the Jews which are among the Gentiles to forsake Moses, saying that they ought not to circumcise their children, neither to walk after the customs. Acts 21:21

15. And all that sat in the council, looking stedfastly on him, saw his face as it had been the face of an angel.

- And it came to pass, when Moses came down from mount Sinai with the two tables of testimony in Moses' hand, when he came down from the mount, that Moses wist not that the skin of his face shone while he talked with him. Ex. 34:29

- Then shall the righteous shine forth as the sun in the kingdom of their Father. Who hath ears to hear, let him hear. Matt. 13:43

- But we all, with open face beholding as in a glass the glory of the Lord, are changed into the same image from glory to glory, even as by the Spirit of the Lord. 2 Cor. 3:18
