If ye then be risen with Christ, seek those things which are above, where Christ sitteth on the right hand of God. - The LORD said unto my Lord, Sit thou at my right hand, until I make thine enemies thy footstool. Ps. 110:1 - Ask, and it shall be given you; seek, and ye shall find; knock, and it shall be opened unto you: Matt. 7:7 - And hath raised us up together, and made us sit together in heavenly places in Christ Jesus: Eph. 2:6 2. Set your affection on things above, not on things on the earth. - But lay up for yourselves treasures in heaven, where neither moth nor rust doth corrupt, and where thieves do not break through nor steal: Matt. 6:20 - But seek ye first the kingdom of God, and his righteousness; and all these things shall be added unto you. Matt. 6:33 - For they that are after the flesh do mind the things of the flesh; but they that are after the Spirit the things of the Spirit. Rom. 8:5 3. For ye are dead, and your life is hid with Christ in God. - Therefore we are buried with him by baptism into death: that like as Christ was raised up from the dead by the glory of the Father, even so we also should walk in newness of life. Rom. 6:4 - And that he died for all, that they which live should not henceforth live unto themselves, but unto him which died for them, and rose again. 2 Cor. 5:15 - I am crucified with Christ: neverthless I live; yet not I, but Christ liveth in me: and the life which I now live in the flesh I live by the faith of the Son of God, who loved me, and gave himself for me. Gal. 2:20 4. When Christ, who is our life, shall appear, then shall ye also appear with him in glory. - Who shall change our vile body, that it may be fashioned like unto his glorious body, according to the working whereby he is able even to subdue all things unto himself. Phil. 3:21 - But rejoice, inasmuch as ye are partakers of Christ's sufferings; that, when his glory shall be revealed, ye may be glad also with exceeding joy. 1 Pet. 4:13 - Beloved, now are we the sons of God, and it doth not yet appear what we shall be: but we know that, when he shall appear, we shall be like him; for we shall see him as he is. 1 John 3:2 5. Mortify therefore your members which are upon the earth; fornication, uncleanness, inordinate affection, evil concupiscence, and covetousness, which is idolatry: - Wherefore if thy hand or thy foot offend thee, cut them off, and cast them from thee: it is better for thee to enter into life halt or maimed, rather than having two hands or two feet to be cast into everlasting fire. Matt. 18:8 - Likewise reckon ye also yourselves to be dead indeed unto sin, but alive unto God through Jesus Christ our Lord. Rom. 6:11 - Now the works of the flesh are manifest, which are these; Adultery, fornication, uncleanness, lasciviousness, Gal. 5:19 6. For which things' sake the wrath of God cometh on the children of disobedience: - For the wrath of God is revealed from heaven against all ungodliness and unrighteousness of men, who hold the truth in unrighteousness; Rom. 1:18 - Know ye not that the unrighteous shall not inherit the kingdom of God? Be not deceived: neither fornicators, nor idolaters, nor adulterers, nor effeminate, nor abusers of themselves with mankind, 1 Cor. 6:9 - Let no man deceive you with vain words: for because of these things cometh the wrath of God upon the children of disobedience. Eph. 5:6 7. In the which ye also walked some time, when ye lived in them. - But now we are delivered from the law, that being dead wherein we were held; that we should serve in newness of spirit, and not in the oldness of the letter. Rom. 7:6 - Wherein in time past ye walked according to the course of this world, according to the prince of the power of the air, the spirit that now worketh in the children of disobedience: Eph. 2:2 - For we ourselves also were sometimes foolish, disobedient, deceived, serving divers lusts and pleasures, living in malice and envy, hateful, and hating one another. Titus 3:3 8. But now ye also put off all these; anger, wrath, malice, blasphemy, filthy communication out of your mouth. - Let all bitterness, and wrath, and anger, and clamour, and evil speaking, be put away from you, with all malice: Eph. 4:31 - Wherefore lay apart all filthiness and superfluity of naughtiness, and receive with meekness the engrafted word, which is able to save your souls. James 1:21 - Wherefore laying aside all malice, and all guile, and hypocrisies, and envies, all evil speakings, 1 Pet. 2:1 9. Lie not one to another, seeing that ye have put off the old man with his deeds; - These are the things that ye shall do; Speak ye every man the truth to his neighbour; execute the judgment of truth and peace in your gates: Zech. 8:16 - Jesus saith unto him, I am the way, the truth, and the life: no man cometh unto the Father, but by me. John 14:6 - In whom also ye are circumcised with the circumcision made without hands, in putting off the body of the sins of the flesh by the circumcision of Christ: Col. 2:11 10. And have put on the new man, which is renewed in knowledge after the image of him that created him: - And God said, Let us make man in our image, after our likeness: and let them have dominion over the fish of the sea, and over the fowl of the air, and over the cattle, and over all the earth, and over every creeping thing that creepeth upon the earth. Gen. 1:26 - And be not conformed to this world: but be ye transformed by the renewing of your mind, that ye may prove what is that good, and acceptable, and perfect, will of God. Rom. 12:2 - But we all, with open face beholding as in a glass the glory of the Lord, are changed into the same image from glory to glory, even as by the Spirit of the Lord. 2 Cor. 3:18 11. Where there is neither Greek nor Jew, circumcision nor uncircumcision, Barbarian, Scythian, bond nor free: but Christ is all, and in all. - For there is no difference between the Jew and the Greek: for the same Lord over all is rich unto all that call upon him. Rom. 10:12 - There is neither Jew nor Greek, there is neither bond nor free, there is neither male nor female: for ye are all one in Christ Jesus. Gal. 3:28 - For in Jesus Christ neither circumcision availeth any thing, nor uncircumcision; but faith which worketh by love. Gal. 5:6 12. Put on therefore, as the elect of God, holy and beloved, bowels of mercies, kindness, humbleness of mind, meekness, longsuffering; - Who shall lay any thing to the charge of God's elect? It is God that justifieth. Rom. 8:33 - But the fruit of the Spirit is love, joy, peace, longsuffering, gentleness, goodness, faith, Gal. 5:22 - Let nothing be done through strife or vainglory; but in lowliness of mind let each esteem other better than themselves. Phil. 2:3 13. Forbearing one another, and forgiving one another, if any man have a quarrel against any: even as Christ forgave you, so also do ye. - And when ye stand praying, forgive, if ye have ought against any: that your Father also which is in heaven may forgive you your trespasses. Mark 11:25 - With all lowliness and meekness, with longsuffering, forbearing one another in love; Eph. 4:2 - And be ye kind one to another, tenderhearted, forgiving one another, even as God for Christ's sake hath forgiven you. Eph. 4:32 14. And above all these things put on charity, which is the bond of perfectness. - This is my commandment, That ye love one another, as I have loved you. John 15:12 - Owe no man any thing, but to love one another: for he that loveth another hath fulfilled the law. Rom. 13:8 - Seest thou how faith wrought with his works, and by works was faith made perfect? James 2:22 15. And let the peace of God rule in your hearts, to the which also ye are called in one body; and be ye thankful. - Peace I leave with you, my peace I give unto you: not as the world giveth, give I unto you. Let not your heart be troubled, neither let it be afraid. John 14:27 - There is one body, and one Spirit, even as ye are called in one hope of your calling; Eph. 4:4 - And the peace of God, which passeth all understanding, shall keep your hearts and minds through Christ Jesus. Phil. 4:7 16. Let the word of Christ dwell in you richly in all wisdom; teaching and admonishing one another in psalms and hymns and spiritual songs, singing with grace in your hearts to the Lord. - And at midnight Paul and Silas prayed, and sang praises unto God: and the prisoners heard them. Acts 16:25 - Whom we preach, warning every man, and teaching every man in all wisdom; that we may present every man perfect in Christ Jesus: Col. 1:28 - Is any among you afflicted? let him pray. Is any merry? let him sing psalms. James 5:13 17. And whatsoever ye do in word or deed, do all in the name of the Lord Jesus, giving thanks to God and the Father by him. - Whether therefore ye eat, or drink, or whatsoever ye do, do all to the glory of God. 1 Cor. 10:31 - In every thing give thanks: for this is the will of God in Christ Jesus concerning you. 1 Thess. 5:18 - By him therefore let us offer the sacrifice of praise to God continually, that is, the fruit of our lips giving thanks to his name. Heb. 13:15 18. Wives, submit yourselves unto your own husbands, as it is fit in the Lord. - Unto the woman he said, I will greatly multiply thy sorrow and thy conception; in sorrow thou shalt bring forth children; and thy desire shall be to thy husband, and he shall rule over thee. Gen. 3:16 - Let your women keep silence in the churches: for it is not permitted unto them to speak; but they are commanded to be under obedience as also saith the law. 1 Cor. 14:34 - Likewise, ye wives, be in subjection to your own husbands; that, if any obey not the word, they also may without the word be won by the conversation of the wives; 1 Pet. 3:1 19. Husbands, love your wives, and be not bitter against them. - Husbands, love your wives, even as Christ also loved the church, and gave himself for it; Eph. 5:25 - So ought men to love their wives as their own bodies. He that loveth his wife loveth himself. Eph. 5:28 - Likewise, ye husbands, dwell with them according to knowledge, giving honour unto the wife, as unto the weaker vessel, and as being heirs together of the grace of life; that your prayers be not hindered. 1 Pet. 3:7 20. Children, obey your parents in all things: for this is well pleasing unto the Lord. - And that Jacob obeyed his father and his mother, and was gone to Padanaram; Gen. 28:7 - And he went down with them, and came to Nazareth, and was subject unto them: but his mother kept all these sayings in her heart. Luke 2:51 - Children, obey your parents in the Lord: for this is right. Eph. 6:1 21. Fathers, provoke not your children to anger, lest they be discouraged. - For whom the LORD loveth he correcteth; even as a father the son in whom he delighteth. Prov. 3:12 - And, ye fathers, provoke not your children to wrath: but bring them up in the nurture and admonition of the Lord. Eph. 6:4 - As ye know how we exhorted and comforted and charged every one of you, as a father doth his children, 1 Thess. 2:11 22. Servants, obey in all things your masters according to the flesh; not with eyeservice, as menpleasers; but in singleness of heart, fearing God; - Let as many servants as are under the yoke count their own masters worthy of all honour, that the name of God and his doctrine be not blasphemed. 1 Tim. 6:1 - Exhort servants to be obedient unto their own masters, and to please them well in all things; not answering again; Titus 2:9 - Servants, be subject to your masters with all fear; not only to the good and gentle, but also to the froward. 1 Pet. 2:18 23. And whatsoever ye do, do it heartily, as to the Lord, and not unto men; - And in every work that he began in the service of the house of God, and in the law, and in the commandments, to seek his God, he did it with all his heart, and prospered. 2 Chron. 31:21 - Not with eyeservice, as menpleasers; but as the servants of Christ, doing the will of God from the heart; Eph. 6:6 - And whatsoever ye do in word or deed, do all in the name of the Lord Jesus, giving thanks to God and the Father by him. Col. 3:17 24. Knowing that of the Lord ye shall receive the reward of the inheritance: for ye serve the Lord Christ. - The LORD recompense thy work, and a full reward be given thee of the LORD God of Israel, under whose wings thou art come to trust. Ruth 2:12 - Take heed that ye do not your alms before men, to be seen of them: otherwise ye have no reward of your Father which is in heaven. Matt. 6:1 - If any man's work abide which he hath built thereupon, he shall receive a reward. 1 Cor. 3:14 25. But he that doeth wrong shall receive for the wrong which he hath done: and there is no respect of persons. - But the LORD said unto Samuel, Look not on his countenance, or on the height of his stature; because I have refused him: for the LORD seeth not as man seeth; for man looketh on the outward appearance, but the LORD looketh on the heart. 1 Sam. 16:7 - For we must all appear before the judgment seat of Christ; that every one may receive the things done in his body, according to that he hath done, whether it be good or bad. 2 Cor. 5:10 - And if ye call on the Father, who without respect of persons judgeth according to every man's work, pass the time of your sojourning here in fear: 1 Pet. 1:17 |
