Paul, an apostle of Jesus Christ by the will of God, to the saints which are at Ephesus, and to the faithful in Christ Jesus: - And it came to pass, that, while Apollos was at Corinth, Paul having passed through the upper coasts came to Ephesus: and finding certain disciples, Acts 19:1 - And this continued by the space of two years; so that all they which dwelt in Asia heard the word of the Lord Jesus, both Jews and Greeks. Acts 19:10 - Paul called to be an apostle of Jesus Christ through the will of God, and Sosthenes our brother, 1 Cor. 1:1 2. Grace be to you, and peace, from God our Father, and from the Lord Jesus Christ. - To all that be in Rome, beloved of God, called to be saints: Grace to you and peace from God our Father, and the Lord Jesus Christ. Rom. 1:7 - Grace be to you and peace from God the Father, and from our Lord Jesus Christ, Gal. 1:3 - Grace and peace be multiplied unto you through the knowledge of God, and of Jesus our Lord, 2 Pet. 1:2 3. Blessed be the God and Father of our Lord Jesus Christ, who hath blessed us with all spiritual blessings in heavenly places in Christ: - Blessed be the Lord God of Israel; for he hath visited and redeemed his people, Luke 1:68 - And hath raised us up together, and made us sit together in heavenly places in Christ Jesus: Eph. 2:6 - Blessed be the God and Father of our Lord Jesus Christ, which according to his abundant mercy hath begotten us again unto a lively hope by the resurrection of Jesus Christ from the dead, 1 Pet. 1:3 4. According as he hath chosen us in him before the foundation of the world, that we should be holy and without blame before him in love: - Ye have not chosen me, but I have chosen you, and ordained you, that ye should go and bring forth fruit, and that your fruit should remain: that whatsoever ye shall ask of the Father in my name, he may give it you. John 15:16 - For whom he did foreknow, he also did predestinate to be conformed to the image of his Son, that he might be the firstborn among many brethren. Rom. 8:29 - That he might present it to himself a glorious church, not having spot, or wrinkle, or any such thing; but that it should be holy and without blemish. Eph. 5:27 5. Having predestinated us unto the adoption of children by Jesus Christ to himself, according to the good pleasure of his will, - But as many as received him, to them gave he power to become the sons of God, even to them that believe on his name: John 1:12 - To redeem them that were under the law, that we might receive the adoption of sons. Gal. 4:5 - In whom also we have obtained an inheritance, being predestinated according to the purpose of him who worketh all things after the counsel of his own will: Eph. 1:11 6. To the praise of the glory of his grace, wherein he hath made us accepted in the beloved. - And it shall be to me a name of joy, a praise and an honour before all the nations of the earth, which shall hear all the good that I do unto them: and they shall fear and tremble for all the goodness and for all the prosperity that I procure unto it. In whom we have redemption through his blood, the forgiveness of sins, according to the riches of his grace; - In whom we have redemption through his blood, even the forgiveness of sins: Col. 1:14 - And, having made peace through the blood of his cross, by him to reconcile all things unto himself; by him, I say, whether they be things in earth, or things in heaven. Col. 1:20 - Neither by the blood of goats and calves, but by his own blood he entered in once into the holy place, having obtained eternal redemption for us. Heb. 9:12 8. Wherein he hath abounded toward us in all wisdom and prudence; - But of him are ye in Christ Jesus, who of God is made unto us wisdom, and righteousness, and sanctification, and redemption: 1 Cor. 1:30 - May be able to comprehend with all saints what is the breadth, and length, and depth, and height; Eph. 3:18 - For this cause we also, since the day we heard it, do not cease to pray for you, and to desire that ye might be filled with the knowledge of his will in all wisdom and spiritual understanding; Col. 1:9 9. Having made known unto us the mystery of his will, according to his good pleasure which he hath purposed in himself: - Now to him that is of power to stablish you according to my gospel, and the preaching of Jesus Christ, according to the revelation of the mystery, which was kept secret since the world began, Rom. 16:25 - And to make all men see what is the fellowship of the mystery, which from the beginning of the world hath been hid in God, who created all things by Jesus Christ: Eph. 3:9 - Even the mystery which hath been hid from ages and from generations, but now is made manifest to his saints: Col. 1:26 10. That in the dispensation of the fulness of times he might gather together in one all things in Christ, both which are in heaven, and which are on earth; even in him: - But when the fulness of the time was come, God sent forth his Son, made of a woman, made under the law, Gal. 4:4 - For he is our peace, who hath made both one, and hath broken down the middle wall of partition between us; Eph. 2:14 - Where there is neither Greek nor Jew, circumcision nor uncircumcision, Barbarian, Scythian, bond nor free: but Christ is all, and in all. Col. 3:11 11. In whom also we have obtained an inheritance, being predestinated according to the purpose of him who worketh all things after the counsel of his own will: - And if children, then heirs; heirs of God, and joint-heirs with Christ; if so be that we suffer with him, that we may be also glorified together. Rom. 8:17 - Moreover whom he did predestinate, them he also called: and whom he called, them he also justified: and whom he justified, them he also glorified. Rom. 8:30 - Wherefore thou art no more a servant, but a son; and if a son, then an heir of God through Christ. Gal. 4:7 12. That we should be to the praise of his glory, who first trusted in Christ. - And now I stand and am judged for the hope of the promise made of God, unto our fathers: Acts 26:6 - Unto which promise our twelve tribes, instantly serving God day and night, hope to come. For which hope's sake, king Agrippa, I am accused of the Jews. Acts 26:7 - And again, Esaias saith, There shall be a root of Jesse, and he that shall rise to reign over the Gentiles; in him shall the Gentiles trust. Rom. 15:12 13. In whom ye also trusted, after that ye heard the word of truth, the gospel of your salvation: in whom also after that ye believed, ye were sealed with that holy Spirit of promise, - For ye have not received the spirit of bondage again to fear; but ye have received the Spirit of adoption, whereby we cry, Abba, Father. Rom. 8:15 - The Spirit itself beareth witness with our spirit, that we are the children of God: Rom. 8:16 - And grieve not the holy Spirit of God, whereby ye are sealed unto the day of redemption. Eph. 4:30 14. Which is the earnest of our inheritance until the redemption of the purchased possession, unto the praise of his glory. - And not only they, but ourselves also, which have the firstfruits of the Spirit, even we ourselves groan within ourselves, waiting for the adoption, to wit, the redemption of our body. Rom. 8:23 - Who hath also sealed us, and given the earnest of the Spirit in our hearts. 2 Cor. 1:22 - Now he that hath wrought us for the selfsame thing is God, who also hath given unto us the earnest of the Spirit. 2 Cor. 5:5 15. Wherefore I also, after I heard of your faith in the Lord Jesus, and love unto all the saints, - Since we heard of your faith in Christ Jesus, and of the love which ye have to all the saints, Col. 1:4 - Remembering without ceasing your work of faith, and labour of love, and patience of hope in our Lord Jesus Christ, in the sight of God and our Father; 1 Thess. 1:3 - We are bound to thank God always for you, brethren, as it is meet, because that your faith groweth exceedingly, and the charity of every one of you all toward each other aboundeth; 2 Thess. 1:3 16. Cease not to give thanks for you, making mention of you in my prayers; - For God is my witness, whom I serve with my spirit in the gospel of his Son, that without ceasing I make mention of you always in my prayers; Rom. 1:9 - I thank my God upon every remembrance of you, Phil. 1:3 - We give thanks to God always for you all, making mention of you in our prayers; 1 Thess. 1:2 17. That the God of our Lord Jesus Christ, the Father of glory, may give unto you the spirit of wisdom and revelation in the knowledge of him: - And the spirit of the LORD shall rest upon him, the spirit of wisdom and understanding, the spirit of counsel and might, the spirit of knowledge and of the fear of the LORD; Isa. 11:2 - But God hath revealed them unto us by his Spirit: for the Spirit searcheth all things, yea, the deep things of God. 1 Cor. 2:10 - For to one is given by the Spirit the word of wisdom; to another the word of knowledge by the same Spirit; 1 Cor. 12:8 18. The eyes of your understanding being enlightened; that ye may know what is the hope of his calling, and what the riches of the glory of his inheritance in the saints, - Open thou mine eyes, that I may behold wondrous things out of thy law. Ps. 119:18 - The light of the body is the eye: if therefore thine eye be single, thy whole body shall be full of light. Matt. 6:22 - To open their eyes, and to turn them from darkness to light, and from the power of Satan unto God, that they may receive forgiveness of sins, and inheritance among them which are sanctified by faith that is in me. Acts 26:18 19. And what is the exceeding greatness of his power to us-ward who believe, according to the working of his mighty power, - For I am not ashamed of the gospel of Christ: for it is the power of God unto salvation to every one that believeth; to the Jew first, and also to the Greek. Rom. 1:16 - Now unto him that is able to do exceeding abundantly above all that we ask or think, according to the power that worketh in us, Eph. 3:20 - That I may know him, and the power of his resurrection, and the fellowship of his sufferings, being made conformable unto his death; Phil. 3:10 20. Which he wrought in Christ, when he raised him from the dead, and set him at his own right hand in the heavenly places, - The LORD said unto my Lord, Sit thou at my right hand, until I make thine enemies thy footstool. Ps. 110:1 - If ye then be risen with Christ, seek those things which are above, where Christ sitteth on the right hand of God. Col. 3:1 - Who being the brightness of his glory, and the express image of his person, and upholding all things by the word of his power, when he had by himself purged our sins, sat down on the right hand of the Majesty on high: Heb. 1:3 21. Far above all principality, and power, and might, and dominion, and every name that is named, not only in this world, but also in that which is to come: - Let them praise the name of the LORD: for his name alone is excellent; his glory is above the earth and heaven. Ps. 148:13 - Wherefore God also hath highly exalted him, and given him a name which is above every name: Phil. 2:9 - Who is gone into heaven, and is on the right hand of God; angels and authorities and powers being made subject unto him. 1 Pet. 3:22 22. And hath put all things under his feet, and gave him to be the head over all things to the church, - And Jesus came and spake unto them, saying, All power is given unto me in heaven and in earth. Matt. 28:18 - And he is the head of the body, the church: who is the beginning, the firstborn from the dead; that in all things he might have the preeminence. Col. 1:18 - Thou hast put all things in subjection under his feet. For in that he put all in subjection under him, he left nothing that is not put under him. But now we see not yet all things put under him. Heb. 2:8 23. Which is his body, the fulness of him that filleth all in all. |
