Heb. 10

NT with xrefs

1. For the law having a shadow of good things to come, and not the very image of the things, can never with those sacrifices which they offered year by year continually make the comers thereunto perfect.

- Which are a shadow of things to come; but the body is of Christ. Col. 2:17

- Which was a figure for the time then present, in which were offered both gifts and sacrifices, that could not make him that did the service perfect, as pertaining to the conscience; Heb. 9:9

2. For then would they not have ceased to be offered? because that the worshippers once purged should have had no more conscience of sins.

- Which shew the work of the law written in their hearts, their conscience also bearing witness, and their thoughts the mean while accusing or else excusing one another;) Rom. 2:15

- Who needeth not daily, as those high priests, to offer up sacrifice, first for his own sins, and then for the people's: for this he did once, when he offered up himself. Heb. 7:27

- And they which heard it, being convicted by their own conscience, went out one by one, beginning at the eldest, even unto the last: and Jesus was left alone, and the woman standing in the midst. John 8:9

3. But in those sacrifices there is a remembrance again made of sins every year.

- And Aaron shall lay both his hands upon the head of the live goat, and confess over him all the iniquities of the children of Israel, and all their transgressions in all their sins, putting them upon the head of the goat, and shall send him away by the hand of a fit man into the wilderness: Lev. 16:21

- For I acknowledge my transgressions: and my sin is ever before me. Ps. 51:3

- But into the second went the high priest alone once every year, not without blood, which he offered for himself, and for the errors of the people: Heb. 9:7

4. For it is not possible that the blood of bulls and of goats should take away sins.

- The next day John seeth Jesus coming unto him, and saith, Behold the Lamb of God, which taketh away the sin of the world. John 1:29

- For if the blood of bulls and of goats, and the ashes of an heifer sprinkling the unclean, sanctifieth to the purifying of the flesh: Heb. 9:13

5. Wherefore when he cometh into the world, he saith, Sacrifice and offering thou wouldest not, but a body hast thou prepared me:

- Sacrifice and offering thou didst not desire; mine ears hast thou opened: burnt offering and sin offering hast thou not required. Ps. 40:6

- For I desired mercy, and not sacrifice; and the knowledge of God more than burnt offerings. Hos. 6:6

- I beseech you therefore, brethren, by the mercies of God, that ye present your bodies a living sacrifice, holy, acceptable unto God, which is your reasonable service. Rom. 12:1

- Sacrifice and offering thou didst not desire; mine ears hast thou opened: burnt offering and sin offering hast thou not required. Ps. 40:6

- Who is there even among you that would shut the doors for nought? neither do ye kindle fire on mine altar for nought. I have no pleasure in you, saith the LORD of hosts, neither will I accept an offering at your hand. Mal. 1:10

- And lo a voice from heaven, saying, This is my beloved Son, in whom I am well pleased. Matt. 3:17

7. Then said I, Lo, I come (in the volume of the book it is written of me,) to do thy will, O God.

- Then said I, Lo, I come: in the volume of the book it is written of me, Ps. 40:7

- He went away again the second time, and prayed, saying, O my Father, if this cup may not pass away from me, except I drink it, thy will be done. Matt. 26:42

- For I came down from heaven, not to do mine own will, but the will of him that sent me. John 6:38

8. Above when he said, Sacrifice and offering and burnt offerings and offering for sin thou wouldest not, neither hadst pleasure therein; which are offered by the law;

- But his wife said unto him, If the LORD were pleased to kill us, he would not have received a burnt offering and a meat offering at our hands, neither would he have showed us all these things, nor would as at this time have told us such things as these. Judg. 13:23

- Also Jehoiada appointed the offices of the house of the LORD by the hand of the priests the Levites, whom David had distributed in the house of the LORD, to offer the burnt offerings of the LORD, as it is written in the law of Moses, with rejoicing and with singing, as it was ordained by David. 2 Chron. 23:18

- But if ye had known what this meaneth, I will have mercy, and not sacrifice, ye would not have condemned the guiltless. Matt. 12:7

9. Then said he, Lo, I come to do thy will, O God. He taketh away the first, that he may establish the second.

- And Jesus answering said unto him, Suffer it to be so now: for thus it becometh us to fulfil all righteousness. Then he suffered him. Matt. 3:15

- For there is verily a disannulling of the commandment going before for the weakness and unprofitableness thereof. Heb. 7:18

- After this manner ye shall offer daily, throughout the seven days, the meat of the sacrifice made by fire, of a sweet savor unto the LORD: it shall be offered beside the continual burnt offering, and his drink offering. Num. 28:24

- For it is not possible that the blood of bulls and of goats should take away sins. Heb. 10:4

12. But this man, after he had offered one sacrifice for sins for ever, sat down on the right hand of God;

- Who is he that condemneth? It is Christ that died, yea rather, that is risen again, who is even at the right hand of God, who also maketh intercession for us. Rom. 8:34

- Who being the brightness of his glory, and the express image of his person, and upholding all things by the word of his power, when he had by himself purged our sins, sat down on the right hand of the Majesty on high: Heb. 1:3

13. From henceforth expecting till his enemies be made his footstool.

- And it came to pass, when they brought out those kings unto Joshua, that Joshua called for all the men of Israel, and said unto the captains of the men of war which went with him, Come near, put your feet upon the necks of these kings. And they came near, and put their feet upon the necks of them. Josh. 10:24

- The LORD said unto my Lord, Sit thou at my right hand, until I make thine enemies thy footstool. Ps. 110:1

- Wherefore he is able also to save them to the uttermost that come unto God by him, seeing he ever liveth to make intercession for them. Heb. 7:25

- For then must he often have suffered since the foundation of the world: but now once in the end of the world hath he appeared to put away sin by the sacrifice of himself. Heb. 9:26

- For the law having a shadow of good things to come, and not the very image of the things, can never with those sacrifices which they offered year by year continually make the comers thereunto perfect. Heb. 10:1

15. Whereof the Holy Ghost also is a witness to us: for after that he had said before,

- Howbeit when he, the Spirit of truth, is come, he will guide you into all truth: for he shall not speak of himself; but whatsoever he shall hear, that shall he speak: and he will shew you things to come. John 16:13
