Therefore we ought to give the more earnest heed to the things which we have heard, lest at any time we should let them slip. - Only take heed to thyself, and keep thy soul diligently, lest thou forget the things which thine eyes have seen, and lest they depart from thy heart all the days of thy life: but teach them thy sons, and thy sons' sons; Deut. 4:9 - And the people with one accord gave heed unto those things which Philip spake, hearing and seeing the miracles which he did. Acts 8:6 - See that ye refuse not him that speaketh. For if they escaped not who refused him that spake on earth, much more shall not we escape, if we turn away from him that speaketh from heaven: Heb. 12:25 2. For if the word spoken by angels was stedfast, and every transgression and disobedience received a just recompence of reward; - Cursed be he that confirmeth not all the words of this law to do them. And all the people shall say, Amen. Deut. 27:26 - This is he, that was in the church in the wilderness with the angel which spake to him in the mount Sina, and with our fathers: who received the lively oracles to give unto us: Acts 7:38 - Wherefore then serveth the law? It was added because of transgressions, till the seed should come to whom the promise was made; and it was ordained by angels in the hand of a mediator. Gal. 3:19 3. How shall we escape, if we neglect so great salvation; which at the first began to be spoken by the Lord, and was confirmed unto us by them that heard him; - Now after that John was put in prison, Jesus came into Galilee, preaching the gospel of the kingdom of God, Mark 1:14 - But ye shall receive power, after that the Holy Ghost is come upon you: and ye shall be witnesses unto me both in Jerusalem, and in all Judaea, and in Samaria, and unto the uttermost part of the earth. Acts 1:8 - Of how much sorer punishment, suppose ye, shall he be thought worthy, who hath trodden under foot the Son of God, and hath counted the blood of the covenant, wherewith he was sanctified, an unholy thing, and hath done despite unto the Spirit of grace? Heb. 10:29 4. God also bearing them witness, both with signs and wonders, and with divers miracles, and gifts of the Holy Ghost, according to his own will? - And they went forth, and preached every where, the Lord working with them, and confirming the word with signs following. Amen. Mark 16:20 - Long time therefore abode they speaking boldly in the Lord, which gave testimony unto the word of his grace, and granted signs and wonders to be done by their hands. Acts 14:3 - But all these worketh that one and the selfsame Spirit, dividing to every man severally as he will. 1 Cor. 12:11 5. For unto the angels hath he not put in subjection the world to come, whereof we speak. - For, behold, I create new heavens and a new earth: and the former shall not be remembered, nor come into mind. Isa. 65:17 - And Jesus came and spake unto them, saying, All power is given unto me in heaven and in earth. Thou madest him a little lower than the angels; thou crownedst him with glory and honour, and didst set him over the works of thy hands: - For thou hast made him a little lower than the angels, and hast crowned him with glory and honour. Ps. 8:5 - Thou madest him to have dominion over the works of thy hands; thou hast put all things under his feet: Ps. 8:6 - But made himself of no reputation, and took upon him the form of a servant, and was made in the likeness of men: Phil. 2:7 8. Thou hast put all things in subjection under his feet. For in that he put all in subjection under him, he left nothing that is not put under him. But now we see not yet all things put under him. - And Jesus came and spake unto them, saying, All power is given unto me in heaven and in earth. Matt. 28:18 - For he must reign, till he hath put all enemies under his feet. 1 Cor. 15:25 - For he hath put all things under his feet. But when he saith all things are put under him, it is manifest that he is excepted, which did put all things under him. 1 Cor. 15:27 9. But we see Jesus, who was made a little lower than the angels for the suffering of death, crowned with glory and honour; that he by the grace of God should taste death for every man. - For he shall grow up before him as a tender plant, and as a root out of a dry ground: he hath no form nor comeliness; and when we shall see him, there is no beauty that we should desire him. Isa. 53:2 - And being found in fashion as a man, he humbled himself, and became obedient unto death, even the death of the cross. Phil. 2:8 - Wherefore God also hath highly exalted him, and given him a name which is above every name: Phil. 2:9 10. For it became him, for whom are all things, and by whom are all things, in bringing many sons unto glory, to make the captain of their salvation perfect through sufferings. - Him hath God exalted with his right hand to be a Prince and a Saviour, for to give repentance to Israel, and forgiveness of sins. Acts 5:31 - And being made perfect, he became the author of eternal salvation unto all them that obey him; Heb. 5:9 - For such an high priest became us, who is holy, harmless, undefiled, separate from sinners, and made higher than the heavens; Heb. 7:26 11. For both he that sanctifieth and they who are sanctified are all of one: for which cause he is not ashamed to call them brethren, - For whosoever shall do the will of my Father which is in heaven, the same is my brother, and sister, and mother. Matt. 12:50 - Jesus saith unto her, Touch me not; for I am not yet ascended to my Father: but go to my brethren, and say unto them, I ascend unto my Father, and your Father; and to my God, and your God. John 20:17 - By the which will we are sanctified through the offering of the body of Jesus Christ once for all. Heb. 10:10 12. Saying, I will declare thy name unto my brethren, in the midst of the church will I sing praise unto thee. - Praise ye the LORD. I will praise the LORD with my whole heart, in the assembly of the upright, and in the congregation. Ps. 111:1 - I will declare thy name unto my brethren: in the midst of the congregation will I praise thee. Ps. 22:22 - My praise shall be of thee in the great congregation: I will pay my vows before them that fear him. Ps. 22:25 13. And again, I will put my trust in him. And again, Behold I and the children which God hath given me. - The God of my rock; in him will I trust: he is my shield, and the horn of my salvation, my high tower, and my refuge, my saviour; thou savest me from violence. 2 Sam. 22:3 - Behold, I and the children whom the LORD hath given me are for signs and for wonders in Israel from the LORD of hosts, which dwelleth in mount Zion. Isa. 8:18 - My Father, which gave them me, is greater than all; and no man is able to pluck them out of my Father's hand. John 10:29 14. Forasmuch then as the children are partakers of flesh and blood, he also himself likewise took part of the same; that through death he might destroy him that had the power of death, that is, the devil; - He will swallow up death in victory; and the Lord GOD will wipe away tears from off all faces; and the rebuke of his people shall he take away from off all the earth: for the LORD hath spoken it. Isa. 25:8 - And the Word was made flesh, and dwelt among us, (and we beheld his glory, the glory as of the only begotten of the Father,) full of grace and truth. John 1:14 - Now is the judgment of this world: now shall the prince of this world be cast out. John 12:31 15. And deliver them who through fear of death were all their lifetime subject to bondage. - That he would grant unto us, that we being delivered out of the hand of our enemies might serve him without fear, Luke 1:74 - For ye have not received the spirit of bondage again to fear; but ye have received the Spirit of adoption, whereby we cry, Abba, Father. Wherefore in all things it behoved him to be made like unto his brethren, that he might be a merciful and faithful high priest in things pertaining to God, to make reconciliation for the sins of the people. - But made himself of no reputation, and took upon him the form of a servant, and was made in the likeness of men: Phil. 2:7 - For we have not an high priest which cannot be touched with the feeling of our infirmities; but was in all points tempted like as we are, yet without sin. Heb. 4:15 - For every high priest taken from among men is ordained for men in things pertaining to God, that he may offer both gifts and sacrifices for sins: Heb. 5:1 18. For in that he himself hath suffered being tempted, he is able to succour them that are tempted. - And he went a little farther, and fell on his face, and prayed, saying, O my Father, if it be possible, let this cup pass from me: nevertheless not as I will, but as thou wilt. Matt. 26:39 - And he was there in the wilderness forty days, tempted of Satan; and was with the wild beasts; and the angels ministered unto him.
