Now before the feast of the passover, when Jesus knew that his hour was come that he should depart out of this world unto the Father, having loved his own which were in the world, he loved them unto the end. - And Jesus answered them, saying, The hour is come, that the Son of man should be glorified. John 12:23 - A new commandment I give unto you, That ye love one another; as I have loved you, that ye also love one another. John 13:34 - I came forth from the Father, and am come into the world: again, I leave the world, and go to the Father. John 16:28 2. And supper being ended, the devil having now put into the heart of Judas Iscariot, Simon's son, to betray him; - Then entered Satan into Judas surnamed Iscariot, being of the number of the twelve. Luke 22:3 - And he went his way, and communed with the chief priests and captains, how he might betray him unto them. Luke 22:4 - But Peter said, Ananias, why hath Satan filled thine heart to lie to the Holy Ghost, and to keep back part of the price of the land? Acts 5:3 3. Jesus knowing that the Father had given all things into his hands, and that he was come from God, and went to God; - The Father loveth the Son, and hath given all things into his hand. I entered into thine house, thou gavest me no water for my feet: but she hath washed my feet with tears, and wiped them with the hairs of her head. Luke 7:44 - Well reported of for good works; if she have brought up children, if she have lodged strangers, if she have washed the saints' feet, if she have relieved the afflicted, if she have diligently followed every good work. 1 Tim. 5:10 6. Then cometh he to Simon Peter: and Peter saith unto him, Lord, dost thou wash my feet? - But John forbad him, saying, I have need to be baptized of thee, and comest thou to me? Matt. 3:14 - When Simon Peter saw it, he fell down at Jesus' knees, saying, Depart from me; for I am a sinful man, O Lord. Luke 5:8 - He it is, who coming after me is preferred before me, whose shoe's latchet I am not worthy to unloose. John 1:27 7. Jesus answered and said unto him, What I do thou knowest not now; but thou shalt know hereafter. - And I heard, but I understood not: then said I, O my Lord, what shall be the end of these things? Dan. 12:8 - These things understood not his disciples at the first: but when Jesus was glorified, then remembered they that these things were written of him, and that they had done these things unto him. John 12:16 - But the Comforter, which is the Holy Ghost, whom the Father will send in my name, he shall teach you all things, and bring all things to your remembrance, whatsoever I have said unto you. John 14:26 8. Peter saith unto him, Thou shalt never wash my feet. Jesus answered him, If I wash thee not, thou hast no part with me. - Thou hast neither part nor lot in this matter: for thy heart is not right in the sight of God. Acts 8:21 - And such were some of you: but ye are washed, but ye are sanctified, but ye are justified in the name of the Lord Jesus, and by the Spirit of our God. 1 Cor. 6:11 - All that are with me salute thee. Simon Peter saith unto him, Lord, not my feet only, but also my hands and my head. - And Aaron and his sons thou shalt bring unto the door of the tabernacle of the congregation, and shalt wash them with water. Ex. 29:4 - I will wash mine hands in innocency: so will I compass thine altar, O LORD: Ps. 26:6 - Let us draw near with a true heart in full assurance of faith, having our hearts sprinkled from an evil conscience, and our bodies washed with pure water. Heb. 10:22 10. Jesus saith to him, He that is washed needeth not save to wash his feet, but is clean every whit: and ye are clean, but not all. - Now ye are clean through the word which I have spoken unto you. If I then, your Lord and Master, have washed your feet; ye also ought to wash one another's feet. - For whether is greater, he that sitteth at meat, or he that serveth? is not he that sitteth at meat? but I am among you as he that serveth. Verily, verily, I say unto you, The servant is not greater than his lord; neither he that is sent greater than he that sent him. - The disciple is not above his master: but every one that is perfect shall be as his master. Luke 6:40 - And there was also a strife among them, which of them should be accounted the greatest. Luke 22:24 - Remember the word that I said unto you, The servant is not greater than his lord. If they have persecuted me, they will also persecute you; if they have kept my saying, they will keep yours also. John 15:20 17. If ye know these things, happy are ye if ye do them. - Therefore whosoever heareth these sayings of mine, and doeth them, I will liken him unto a wise man, which built his house upon a rock: Matt. 7:24 - But he said, Yea rather, blessed are they that hear the word of God, and keep it. Luke 11:28 - But whoso looketh into the perfect law of liberty, and continueth therein, he being not a forgetful hearer, but a doer of the work, this man shall be blessed in his deed. James 1:25 18. I speak not of you all: I know whom I have chosen: but that the scripture may be fulfilled, He that eateth bread with me hath lifted up his heel against me. - Yea, mine own familiar friend, in whom I trusted, which did eat of my bread, hath lifted up his heel against me. Ex. 3:14 - I have even from the beginning declared it to thee; before it came to pass I shewed it thee: lest thou shouldest say, Mine idol hath done them, and my graven image, and my molten image, hath commanded them. Isa. 48:5 - And now I have told you before it come to pass, that, when it is come to pass, ye might believe. John 14:29 20. Verily, verily, I say unto you, He that receiveth whomsoever I send receiveth me; and he that receiveth me receiveth him that sent me. - He that receiveth you receiveth me, and he that receiveth me receiveth him that sent me. Matt. 10:40 - He that heareth you heareth me; and he that despiseth you despiseth me; and he that despiseth me despiseth him that sent me. Luke 10:16 - And my temptation which was in my flesh ye despised not, nor rejected; but received me as an angel of God, even as Christ Jesus. Gal. 4:14 21. When Jesus had thus said, he was troubled in spirit, and testified, and said, Verily, verily, I say unto you, that one of you shall betray me. - And as they did eat, he said, Verily I say unto you, that one of you shall betray me. Matt. 26:21 - When Jesus therefore saw her weeping, and the Jews also weeping which came with her, he groaned in the spirit, and was troubled. John 11:33 - Now is my soul troubled; and what shall I say? Father, save me from this hour: but for this cause came I unto this hour. John 12:27 22. Then the disciples looked one on another, doubting of whom he spake. - Now when Jacob saw that there was corn in Egypt, Jacob said unto his sons, Why do ye look one upon another? Gen. 42:1 - And they were exceeding sorrowful, and began every one of them to say unto him, Lord, is it I? Matt. 26:22 - And they began to enquire among themselves, which of them it was that should do this thing. Luke 22:23 23. Now there was leaning on Jesus' bosom one of his disciples, whom Jesus loved. - But the poor man had nothing, save one little ewe lamb, which he had bought and nourished up: and it grew up together with him, and with his children; it did eat of his own meat, and drank of his own cup, and lay in his bosom, and was unto him as a daughter. 2 Sam. 12:3 - Then Peter, turning about, seeth the disciple whom Jesus loved following; which also leaned on his breast at supper, and said, Lord, which is he that betrayeth thee? John 21:20 - This is the disciple which testifieth of these things, and wrote these things: and we know that his testimony is true. John 21:24 24. Simon Peter therefore beckoned to him, that he should ask who it should be of whom he spake. - And they that passed by railed on him, wagging their heads, and saying, Ah, thou that destroyest the temple, and buildest it in three days, Mark 15:29 - And they beckoned unto their partners, which were in the other ship, that they should come and help them. And they came, and filled both the ships, so that they began to sink. Luke 5:7 - But he, beckoning unto them with the hand to hold their peace, declared unto them how the Lord had brought him out of the prison. And he said, Go shew these things unto James, and to the brethren. And he departed, and went into another place. Acts 12:17 25. He then lying on Jesus' breast saith unto him, Lord, who is it? - The son of Abishua, the son of Phinehas, the son of Eleazar, the son of Aaron the chief priest: Ezra 7:5 - Then Peter, turning about, seeth the disciple whom Jesus loved following; which also leaned on his breast at supper, and said, Lord, which is he that betrayeth thee? John 21:20 - O foolish Galatians, who hath bewitched you, that ye should not obey the truth, before whose eyes Jesus Christ hath been evidently set forth, crucified among you? Gal. 3:1 26. Jesus answered, He it is, to whom I shall give a sop, when I have dipped it. And when he had dipped the sop, he gave it to Judas Iscariot, the son of Simon. - And Boaz said unto her, At mealtime come thou hither, and eat of the bread, and dip thy morsel in the vinegar. And she sat beside the reapers: and he reached her parched corn, and she did eat, and was sufficed, and left. Ruth 2:14 - And he answered and said, He that dippeth his hand with me in the dish, the same shall betray me. Matt. 26:23 - And he cried and said, Father Abraham, have mercy on me, and send Lazarus, that he may dip the tip of his finger in water, and cool my tongue; for I am tormented in this flame. Luke 16:24 27. And after the sop Satan entered into him. Then said Jesus unto him, That thou doest, do quickly. - If thou doest well, shalt thou not be accepted? and if thou doest not well, sin lieth at the door. And unto thee shall be his desire, and thou shalt rule over him. James 1:15 28. Now no man at the table knew for what intent he spake this unto him. - Yet the LORD hath not given you an heart to perceive, and eyes to see, and ears to hear, unto this day. Deut. 29:4 - And he said, Go, and tell this people, Hear ye indeed, but understand not; and see ye indeed, but perceive not. Isa. 6:9 - Why do ye not understand my speech? even because ye cannot hear my word. John 8:43 29. For some of them thought, because Judas had the bag, that Jesus had said unto him, Buy those things that we have need of against the feast; or, that he should give something to the poor. - This he said, not that he cared for the poor; but because he was a thief, and had the bag, and bare what was put therein. John 12:6 - Only they would that we should remember the poor; the same which I also was forward to do. Gal. 2:10 - Let him that stole steal no more: but rather let him labour, working with his hands the thing which is good, that he may have to give to him that needeth. Eph. 4:28 30. He then having received the sop went immediately out: and it was night. - The murderer rising with the light killeth the poor and needy, and in the night is as a thief. Job 24:14 - For they sleep not, except they have done mischief; and their sleep is taken away, unless they cause some to fall. Prov. 4:16 - That thou mayest say to the prisoners, Go forth; to them that are in darkness, Shew yourselves. They shall feed in the ways, and their pastures shall be in all high places. Isa. 49:9 31. Therefore, when he was gone out, Jesus said, Now is the Son of man glorified, and God is glorified in him. - (But this spake he of the Spirit, which they that believe on him should receive: for the Holy Ghost was not yet given; because that Jesus was not yet glorified.) John 7:39 - These things understood not his disciples at the first: but when Jesus was glorified, then remembered they that these things were written of him, and that they had done these things unto him. John 12:16 - If any man speak, let him speak as the oracles of God; if any man minister, let him do it as of the ability which God giveth: that God in all things may be glorified through Jesus Christ, to whom be praise and dominion for ever and ever. If God be glorified in him, God shall also glorify him in himself, and shall straightway glorify him. - And Jesus answered them, saying, The hour is come, that the Son of man should be glorified. John 12:23 - These words spake Jesus, and lifted up his eyes to heaven, and said, Father, the hour is come; glorify thy Son, that thy Son also may glorify thee: John 17:1 - And now, O Father, glorify thou me with thine own self with the glory which I had with thee before the world was. John 17:5 33. Little children, yet a little while I am with you. Ye shall seek me: and as I said unto the Jews, Whither I go, ye cannot come; so now I say to you. - Then said Jesus again unto them, I go my way, and ye shall seek me, and shall die in your sins: whither I go, ye cannot come. John 8:21 - My little children, of whom I travail in birth again until Christ be formed in you, Gal. 4:19 - My little children, these things write I unto you, that ye sin not. And if any man sin, we have an advocate with the Father, Jesus Christ the righteous: 1 John 2:1 34. A new commandment I give unto you, That ye love one another; as I have loved you, that ye also love one another. - Thou shalt not avenge, nor bear any grudge against the children of thy people, but thou shalt love thy neighbor as thyself: I am the LORD. Lev. 19:18 - Seeing ye have purified your souls in obeying the truth through the Spirit unto unfeigned love of the brethren, see that ye love one another with a pure heart fervently: 1 Pet. 1:22 - And this is his commandment, That we should believe on the name of his Son Jesus Christ, and love one another, as he gave us commandment. 1 John 3:23 35. By this shall all men know that ye are my disciples, if ye have love one to another. - I in them, and thou in me, that they may be made perfect in one; and that the world may know that thou hast sent me, and hast loved them, as thou hast loved me. John 17:23 - And the multitude of them that believed were of one heart and of one soul: neither said any of them that ought of the things which he possessed was his own; but they had all things common. Acts 4:32 - And of the rest durst no man join himself to them: but the people magnified them. Acts 5:13 36. Simon Peter said unto him, Lord, whither goest thou? Jesus answered him, Whither I go, thou canst not follow me now; but thou shalt follow me afterwards. - Then said the Jews among themselves, Whither will he go, that we shall not find him? will he go unto the dispersed among the Gentiles, and teach the Gentiles? John 7:35 - Then said Jesus again unto them, I go my way, and ye shall seek me, and shall die in your sins: whither I go, ye cannot come. John 8:21 - Verily, verily, I say unto thee, When thou wast young, thou girdest thyself, and walkedst whither thou wouldest: but when thou shalt be old, thou shalt stretch forth thy hands, and another shall gird thee, and carry thee whither thou wouldest not. John 21:18 37. Peter said unto him, Lord, why cannot I follow thee now? I will lay down my life for thy sake. - I am the good shepherd: the good shepherd giveth his life for the sheep. John 10:11 - Then said Thomas, which is called Didymus, unto his fellowdisciples, Let us also go, that we may die with him. John 11:16 - Then Paul answered, What mean ye to weep and to break mine heart? for I am ready not to be bound only, but also to die at Jerusalem for the name of the Lord Jesus. Acts 21:13 38. Jesus answered him, Wilt thou lay down thy life for my sake? Verily, verily, I say unto thee, The cock shall not crow, till thou hast denied me thrice. - Pride goeth before destruction, and an haughty spirit before a fall. Prov. 16:18 - And Jesus saith unto him, Verily I say unto thee, That this day, even in this night, before the cock crow twice, thou shalt deny me thrice.
