John 17

1. These words spake Jesus, and lifted up his eyes to heaven, and said, Father, the hour is come; glorify thy Son, that thy Son also may glorify thee:

- Then they took away the stone from the place where the dead was laid. And Jesus lifted up his eyes, and said, Father, I thank thee that thou hast heard me. John 11:41

- And Jesus answered them, saying, The hour is come, that the Son of man should be glorified. John 12:23

- Wherefore God also hath highly exalted him, and given him a name which is above every name: Phil. 2:9

2. As thou hast given him power over all flesh, that he should give eternal life to as many as thou hast given him.

- And Jesus came and spake unto them, saying, All power is given unto me in heaven and in earth. Matt. 28:18

- All that the Father giveth me shall come to me; and him that cometh to me I will in no wise cast out. John 6:37

- And this is the Father's will which hath sent me, that of all which he hath given me I should lose nothing, but should raise it up again at the last day. John 6:39

3. And this is life eternal, that they might know thee the only true God, and Jesus Christ, whom thou hast sent.

- Verily, verily, I say unto you, He that heareth my word, and believeth on him that sent me, hath everlasting life, and shall not come into condemnation; but is passed from death unto life. John 5:24

- Yea doubtless, and I count all things but loss for the excellency of the knowledge of Christ Jesus my Lord: for whom I have suffered the loss of all things, and do count them but dung, that I may win Christ, Phil. 3:8

- And we know that the Son of God is come, and hath given us an understanding, that we may know him that is true, and we are in him that is true, even in his Son Jesus Christ. This is the true God, and eternal life. 1 John 5:20

4. I have glorified thee on the earth: I have finished the work which thou gavest me to do.

- Jesus saith unto them, My meat is to do the will of him that sent me, and to finish his work. John 4:34

- When Jesus therefore had received the vinegar, he said, It is finished: and he bowed his head, and gave up the ghost. John 19:30

- I have fought a good fight, I have finished my course, I have kept the faith: 2 Tim. 4:7

5. And now, O Father, glorify thou me with thine own self with the glory which I had with thee before the world was.

- In the beginning was the Word, and the Word was with God, and the Word was God. John 1:1

- Father, I will that they also, whom thou hast given me, be with me where I am; that they may behold my glory, which thou hast given me: for thou lovedst me before the foundation of the world. John 17:24

- Who being the brightness of his glory, and the express image of his person, and upholding all things by the word of his power, when he had by himself purged our sins, sat down on the right hand of the Majesty on high: Heb. 1:3

6. I have manifested thy name unto the men which thou gavest me out of the world: thine they were, and thou gavest them me; and they have kept thy word.

- All that the Father giveth me shall come to me; and him that cometh to me I will in no wise cast out. John 6:37

- My Father, which gave them me, is greater than all; and no man is able to pluck them out of my Father's hand. John 10:29

- And I have declared unto them thy name, and will declare it: that the love wherewith thou hast loved me may be in them, and I in them. John 17:26

7. Now they have known that all things whatsoever thou hast given me are of thee.

- If any man will do his will, he shall know of the doctrine, whether it be of God, or whether I speak of myself. John 7:17

- At that day ye shall know that I am in my Father, and ye in me, and I in you. John 14:20

- Now are we sure that thou knowest all things, and needest not that any man should ask thee: by this we believe that thou camest forth from God. John 16:30

8. For I have given unto them the words which thou gavest me; and they have received them, and have known surely that I came out from thee, and they have believed that thou didst send me.

- And we believe and are sure that thou art that Christ, the Son of the living God. John 6:69

- Jesus answered them, and said, My doctrine is not mine, but his that sent me. John 7:16

- For the Father himself loveth you, because ye have loved me, and have believed that I came out from God. John 16:27

9. I pray for them: I pray not for the world, but for them which thou hast given me; for they are thine.

- Neither pray I for these alone, but for them also which shall believe on me through their word; John 17:20

- Who is he that condemneth? It is Christ that died, yea rather, that is risen again, who is even at the right hand of God, who also maketh intercession for us. Rom. 8:34

- Wherefore he is able also to save them to the uttermost that come unto God by him, seeing he ever liveth to make intercession for them. Heb. 7:25

10. And all mine are thine, and thine are mine; and I am glorified in them.

- I and my Father are one. John 10:30

- All things that the Father hath are mine: therefore said I, that he shall take of mine, and shall shew it unto you. John 16:15

- When he shall come to be glorified in his saints, and to be admired in all them that believe (because our testimony among you was believed) in that day. 2 Thess. 1:10

11. And now I am no more in the world, but these are in the world, and I come to thee. Holy Father, keep through thine own name those whom thou hast given me, that they may be one, as we are.

- Now before the feast of the passover, when Jesus knew that his hour was come that he should depart out of this world unto the Father, having loved his own which were in the world, he loved them unto the end. John 13:1

- I came forth from the Father, and am come into the world: again, I leave the world, and go to the Father. John 16:28

- O righteous Father, the world hath not known thee: but I have known thee, and these have known that thou hast sent me. John 17:25

12. While I was with them in the world, I kept them in thy name: those that thou gavest me I have kept, and none of them is lost, but the son of perdition; that the scripture might be fulfilled.

- And this is the Father's will which hath sent me, that of all which he hath given me I should lose nothing, but should raise it up again at the last day. John 6:39

- Jesus answered them, Have not I chosen you twelve, and one of you is a devil? John 6:70

- And I give unto them eternal life; and they shall never perish, neither shall any man pluck them out of my hand. John 10:28

13. And now come I to thee; and these things I speak in the world, that they might have my joy fulfilled in themselves.

- He that hath the bride is the bridegroom: but the friend of the bridegroom, which standeth and heareth him, rejoiceth greatly because of the bridegroom's voice: this my joy therefore is fulfilled. John 3:29

- These things have I spoken unto you, that my joy might remain in you, and that your joy might be full. John 15:11

- Fulfil ye my joy, that ye be likeminded, having the same love, being of one accord, of one mind. Phil. 2:2

14. I have given them thy word; and the world hath hated them, because they are not of the world, even as I am not of the world.

- The world cannot hate you; but me it hateth, because I testify of it, that the works thereof are evil. John 7:7

- If ye were of the world, the world would love his own: but because ye are not of the world, but I have chosen you out of the world, therefore the world hateth you. John 15:19

- Marvel not, my brethren, if the world hate you. 1 John 3:13

15. I pray not that thou shouldest take them out of the world, but that thou shouldest keep them from the evil.

- And lead us not into temptation, but deliver us from evil: For thine is the kingdom, and the power, and the glory, for ever. Amen. Matt. 6:13

- Yet not altogether with the fornicators of this world, or with the covetous, or extortioners, or with idolaters; for then must ye needs go out of the world. 1 Cor. 5:10

- But the Lord is faithful, who shall stablish you, and keep you from evil. 2 Thess. 3:3

16. They are not of the world, even as I am not of the world.

- If ye were of the world, the world would love his own: but because ye are not of the world, but I have chosen you out of the world, therefore the world hateth you. John 15:19

- Howbeit we speak wisdom among them that are perfect: yet not the wisdom of this world, nor of the princes of this world, that come to nought: 1 Cor. 2:6

- Behold, what manner of love the Father hath bestowed upon us, that we should be called the sons of God: therefore the world knoweth us not, because it knew him not. 1 John 3:1

17. Sanctify them through thy truth: thy word is truth.

- And thou shalt put them upon Aaron thy brother, and his sons with him; and shalt anoint them, and consecrate them, and sanctify them, that they may minister unto me in the priest's office. Ex. 28:41

- And now, O Lord GOD, thou art that God, and thy words be true, and thou hast promised this goodness unto thy servant: 2 Sam. 7:28

- Now ye are clean through the word which I have spoken unto you. John 15:3

18. As thou hast sent me into the world, even so have I also sent them into the world.

- The Spirit of the Lord GOD is upon me; because the LORD hath anointed me to preach good tidings unto the meek; he hath sent me to bind up the brokenhearted, to proclaim liberty to the captives, and the opening of the prison to them that are bound; Isa. 61:1

- And he said unto them, Go ye into all the world, and preach the gospel to every creature. Mark 16:15

- Then said Jesus to them again, Peace be unto you: as my Father hath sent me, even so send I you. John 20:21

19. And for their sakes I sanctify myself, that they also might be sanctified through the truth.

- But of him are ye in Christ Jesus, who of God is made unto us wisdom, and righteousness, and sanctification, and redemption: 1 Cor. 1:30

- That he might sanctify and cleanse it with the washing of water by the word, Eph. 5:26

- By the which will we are sanctified through the offering of the body of Jesus Christ once for all. Heb. 10:10

20. Neither pray I for these alone, but for them also which shall believe on me through their word;

- Howbeit many of them which heard the word believed; and the number of the men was about five thousand. Acts 4:4

- At that day ye shall know that I am in my Father, and ye in me, and I in you. John 14:20

- Now I beseech you, brethren, by the name of our Lord Jesus Christ, that ye all speak the same thing, and that there be no divisions among you; but that ye be perfectly joined together in the same mind and in the same judgment. 1 Cor. 1:10

22. And the glory which thou gavest me I have given them; that they may be one, even as we are one:

- And the Word was made flesh, and dwelt among us, (and we beheld his glory, the glory as of the only begotten of the Father,) full of grace and truth. John 1:14

- But we all, with open face beholding as in a glass the glory of the Lord, are changed into the same image from glory to glory, even as by the Spirit of the Lord. 2 Cor. 3:18

- Whereby are given unto us exceeding great and precious promises: that by these ye might be partakers of the divine nature, having escaped the corruption that is in the world through lust. 2 Pet. 1:4

23. I in them, and thou in me, that they may be made perfect in one; and that the world may know that thou hast sent me, and hast loved them, as thou hast loved me.

- By this shall all men know that ye are my disciples, if ye have love one to another. John 13:35

- I am crucified with Christ: neverthless I live; yet not I, but Christ liveth in me: and the life which I now live in the flesh I live by the faith of the Son of God, who loved me, and gave himself for me. Gal. 2:20

- There is neither Jew nor Greek, there is neither bond nor free, there is neither male nor female: for ye are all one in Christ Jesus. Gal. 3:28

24. Father, I will that they also, whom thou hast given me, be with me where I am; that they may behold my glory, which thou hast given me: for thou lovedst me before the foundation of the world.

- If any man serve me, let him follow me; and where I am, there shall also my servant be: if any man serve me, him will my Father honour. John 12:26

- And if I go and prepare a place for you, I will come again, and receive you unto myself; that where I am, there ye may be also. John 14:3

- Beloved, now are we the sons of God, and it doth not yet appear what we shall be: but we know that, when he shall appear, we shall be like him; for we shall see him as he is. 1 John 3:2

25. O righteous Father, the world hath not known thee: but I have known thee, and these have known that thou hast sent me.

- But I know him: for I am from him, and he hath sent me. John 7:29

- But all these things will they do unto you for my name's sake, because they know not him that sent me. John 15:21

- And now I am no more in the world, but these are in the world, and I come to thee. Holy Father, keep through thine own name those whom thou hast given me, that they may be one, as we are. John 17:11

26. And I have declared unto them thy name, and will declare it: that the love wherewith thou hast loved me may be in them, and I in them.

- I will declare thy name unto my brethren: in the midst of the congregation will I praise thee. Ps. 22:22

- As the Father hath loved me, so have I loved you: continue ye in my love. John 15:9

- I have manifested thy name unto the men which thou gavest me out of the world: thine they were, and thou gavest them me; and they have kept thy word. John 17:6
