1. And the third day there was a marriage in Cana of Galilee; and the mother of Jesus was there:

- And Laban gathered together all the men of the place, and made a feast. Gen. 29:22

- So Jesus came again into Cana of Galilee, where he made the water wine. And there was a certain nobleman, whose son was sick at Capernaum. John 4:46

- There were together Simon Peter, and Thomas called Didymus, and Nathanael of Cana in Galilee, and the sons of Zebedee, and two other of his disciples. John 21:2

2. And both Jesus was called, and his disciples, to the marriage.

- He that receiveth a prophet in the name of a prophet shall receive a prophet's reward; and he that receiveth a righteous man in the name of a righteous man shall receive a righteous man's reward. Matt. 10:41

- And one of the Pharisees desired him that he would eat with him. And he went into the Pharisee's house, and sat down to meat. Luke 7:36

- And he saith unto me, Write, Blessed are they which are called unto the marriage supper of the Lamb. And he saith unto me, These are the true sayings of God. Rev. 19:9

3. And when they wanted wine, the mother of Jesus saith unto him, They have no wine.

- And wine that maketh glad the heart of man, and oil to make his face to shine, and bread which strengtheneth man's heart. Ps. 104:15

- A feast is made for laughter, and wine maketh merry: but money answereth all things. Eccles. 10:19

- Be careful for nothing; but in every thing by prayer and supplication with thanksgiving let your requests be made known unto God. Phil. 4:6

4. Jesus saith unto her, Woman, what have I to do with thee? mine hour is not yet come.

- Then Jesus said unto them, My time is not yet come: but your time is alway ready. John 7:6

- And Jesus answered them, saying, The hour is come, that the Son of man should be glorified. John 12:23

- When Jesus therefore saw his mother, and the disciple standing by, whom he loved, he saith unto his mother, Woman, behold thy son! John 19:26

5. His mother saith unto the servants, Whatsoever he saith unto you, do it.

- Thus did Noah; according to all that God commanded him, so did he. Gen. 6:22

- And Simon answering said unto him, Master, we have toiled all the night, and have taken nothing: nevertheless at thy word I will let down the net. Luke 5:5

- Ye are my friends, if ye do whatsoever I command you. John 15:14

6. And there were set there six waterpots of stone, after the manner of the purifying of the Jews, containing two or three firkins apiece.

- And when they come from the market, except they wash, they eat not. And many other things there be, which they have received to hold, as the washing of cups, and pots, brasen vessels, and of tables. Mark 7:4

- And he turned to the woman, and said unto Simon, Seest thou this woman? I entered into thine house, thou gavest me no water for my feet: but she hath washed my feet with tears, and wiped them with the hairs of her head. Luke 7:44

- That he might sanctify and cleanse it with the washing of water by the word, Eph. 5:26

7. Jesus saith unto them, Fill the waterpots with water. And they filled them up to the brim.

- And the damsel was very fair to look upon, a virgin, neither had any man known her: and she went down to the well, and filled her pitcher, and came up. Gen. 24:16

- And when thou art come in, thou shalt shut the door upon thee and upon thy sons, and shalt pour out into all those vessels, and thou shalt set aside that which is full. 2 Kings 4:4

- If a man therefore purge himself from these, he shall be a vessel unto honour, sanctified, and meet for the master's use, and prepared unto every good work. 2 Tim. 2:21

8. And he saith unto them, Draw out now, and bear unto the governor of the feast. And they bare it.

- Trust in the LORD with all thine heart; and lean not unto thine own understanding. Prov. 3:5

- There cometh a woman of Samaria to draw water: Jesus saith unto her, Give me to drink. John 4:7

- The woman saith unto him, Sir, give me this water, that I thirst not, neither come hither to draw. John 4:15

9. When the ruler of the feast had tasted the water that was made wine, and knew not whence it was: (but the servants which drew the water knew;) the governor of the feast called the bridegroom,

- And it shall come to pass, if they will not believe also these two signs, neither hearken unto thy voice, that thou shalt take of the water of the river, and pour it upon the dry land: and the water which thou takest out of the river shall become blood upon the dry land. Ex. 4:9

- And the LORD spake unto Moses, Say unto Aaron, Take thy rod, and stretch out thine hand upon the waters of Egypt, upon their streams, upon their rivers, and upon their ponds, and upon all their pools of water, that they may become blood; and that there may be blood throughout all the land of Egypt, both in vessels of wood, and in vessels of stone. Ex. 7:19

- So Jesus came again into Cana of Galilee, where he made the water wine. And there was a certain nobleman, whose son was sick at Capernaum. John 4:46

10. And saith unto him, Every man at the beginning doth set forth good wine; and when men have well drunk, then that which is worse: but thou hast kept the good wine until now.

- And he took and sent messes unto them from before him: but Benjamin's mess was five times so much as any of theirs. And they drank, and were merry with him. Gen. 43:34

- Ho, every one that thirsteth, come ye to the waters, and he that hath no money; come ye, buy, and eat; yea, come, buy wine and milk without money and without price. Isa. 55:1

- No man also having drunk old wine straightway desireth new: for he saith, The old is better. Luke 5:39

11. This beginning of miracles did Jesus in Cana of Galilee, and manifested forth his glory; and his disciples believed on him.

- And the Word was made flesh, and dwelt among us, (and we beheld his glory, the glory as of the only begotten of the Father,) full of grace and truth. John 1:14

- The same came to Jesus by night, and said unto him, Rabbi, we know that thou art a teacher come from God: for no man can do these miracles that thou doest, except God be with him. John 3:2

- Jesus saith unto her, Said I not unto thee, that, if thou wouldest believe, thou shouldest see the glory of God? John 11:40

12. After this he went down to Capernaum, he, and his mother, and his brethren, and his disciples: and they continued there not many days.

- And leaving Nazareth, he came and dwelt in Capernaum, which is upon the sea coast, in the borders of Zabulon and Nephthalim: Matt. 4:13

- Is not this the carpenter's son? is not his mother called Mary? and his brethren, James, and Joses, and Simon, and Judas? Matt. 13:55

- These all continued with one accord in prayer and supplication, with the women, and Mary the mother of Jesus, and with his brethren. Acts 1:14

13. And the Jews' passover was at hand, and Jesus went up to Jerusalem.

- After this there was a feast of the Jews; and Jesus went up to Jerusalem. John 5:1

- And the passover, a feast of the Jews, was nigh. John 6:4

- And the Jews' passover was nigh at hand: and many went out of the country up to Jerusalem before the passover, to purify themselves. John 11:55

14. And found in the temple those that sold oxen and sheep and doves, and the changers of money sitting:

- And if he be not able to bring a lamb, then he shall bring for his trespass, which he hath committed, two turtledoves, or two young pigeons, unto the LORD; one for a sin offering, and the other for a burnt offering. Lev. 5:7

- And if she be not able to bring a lamb, then she shall bring two turtles, or two young pigeons; the one for the burnt offering, and the other for a sin offering: and the priest shall make an atonement for her, and she shall be clean. Lev. 12:8

- And Jesus went into the temple of God, and cast out all them that sold and bought in the temple, and overthrew the tables of the moneychangers, and the seats of them that sold doves, Matt. 21:12

15. And when he had made a scourge of small cords, he drove them all out of the temple, and the sheep, and the oxen; and poured out the changers' money, and overthrew the tables;

- And there shall be no leavened bread seen with thee in all thy coast seven days; neither shall there any thing of the flesh, which thou sacrificedst the first day at even, remain all night until the morning. Deut. 16:4

- And it grieved me sore: therefore I cast forth all the household stuff to Tobiah out of the chamber. Neh. 13:8

- Whose fan is in his hand, and he will throughly purge his floor, and gather his wheat into the garner; but he will burn up the chaff with unquenchable fire. Matt. 3:12

16. And said unto them that sold doves, Take these things hence; make not my Father's house an house of merchandise.

- And said unto them, It is written, My house shall be called the house of prayer; but ye have made it a den of thieves. Matt. 21:13

- And he said unto them, How is it that ye sought me? wist ye not that I must be about my Father's business? Luke 2:49

- But Christ as a son over his own house; whose house are we, if we hold fast the confidence and the rejoicing of the hope firm unto the end. Heb. 3:6

17. And his disciples remembered that it was written, The zeal of thine house hath eaten me up.

- For the LORD thy God is a consuming fire, even a jealous God. Deut. 4:24

- My zeal hath consumed me, because mine enemies have forgotten thy words. Ps. 119:139

- For the zeal of thine house hath eaten me up; and the reproaches of them that reproached thee are fallen upon me. Ps. 69:9

18. Then answered the Jews and said unto him, What sign shewest thou unto us, seeing that thou doest these things?

- The Pharisees also with the Sadducees came, and tempting desired him that he would shew them a sign from heaven. Matt. 16:1

- And say unto him, By what authority doest thou these things? and who gave thee this authority to do these things? Mark 11:28

- For the Jews require a sign, and the Greeks seek after wisdom: 1 Cor. 1:22

19. Jesus answered and said unto them, Destroy this temple, and in three days I will raise it up.

- We heard him say, I will destroy this temple that is made with hands, and within three days I will build another made without hands. Mark 14:58

- And they that passed by railed on him, wagging their heads, and saying, Ah, thou that destroyest the temple, and buildest it in three days, Mark 15:29

- Know ye not that ye are the temple of God, and that the Spirit of God dwelleth in you? 1 Cor. 3:16

20. Then said the Jews, Forty and six years was this temple in building, and wilt thou rear it up in three days?

- And as he went out of the temple, one of his disciples saith unto him, Master, see what manner of stones and what buildings are here! Mark 13:1

- And Jesus answering said unto him, Seest thou these great buildings? there shall not be left one stone upon another, that shall not be thrown down. Mark 13:2

- And as some spake of the temple, how it was adorned with goodly stones and gifts, he said, Luke 21:5

21. But he spake of the temple of his body.

- What? know ye not that your body is the temple of the Holy Ghost which is in you, which ye have of God, and ye are not your own? 1 Cor. 6:19

- And what agreement hath the temple of God with idols? for ye are the temple of the living God; as God hath said, I will dwell in them, and walk in them; and I will be their God, and they shall be my people. 2 Cor. 6:16

- Ye also, as lively stones, are built up a spiritual house, an holy priesthood, to offer up spiritual sacrifices, acceptable to God by Jesus Christ. 1 Pet. 2:5

22. When therefore he was risen from the dead, his disciples remembered that he had said this unto them; and they believed the scripture, and the word which Jesus had said.

- And they remembered his words, Luke 24:8

- But the Comforter, which is the Holy Ghost, whom the Father will send in my name, he shall teach you all things, and bring all things to your remembrance, whatsoever I have said unto you. John 14:26

- He shall glorify me: for he shall receive of mine, and shall shew it unto you. John 16:14

23. Now when he was in Jerusalem at the passover, in the feast day, many believed in his name, when they saw the miracles which he did.

- The same came to Jesus by night, and said unto him, Rabbi, we know that thou art a teacher come from God: for no man can do these miracles that thou doest, except God be with him. John 3:2

- Then those men, when they had seen the miracle that Jesus did, said, This is of a truth that prophet that should come into the world. John 6:14

- For the Jews require a sign, and the Greeks seek after wisdom: 1 Cor. 1:22

24. But Jesus did not commit himself unto them, because he knew all men,

- And he brought him to Jesus. And when Jesus beheld him, he said, Thou art Simon the son of Jona: thou shalt be called Cephas, which is by interpretation, A stone. John 1:42

- Jesus saw Nathanael coming to him, and saith of him, Behold an Israelite indeed, in whom is no guile! John 1:47

- But I know you, that ye have not the love of God in you. John 5:42

25. And needed not that any should testify of man: for he knew what was in man.

- But the LORD said unto Samuel, Look not on his countenance, or on the height of his stature; because I have refused him: for the LORD seeth not as man seeth; for man looketh on the outward appearance, but the LORD looketh on the heart. 1 Sam. 16:7

- Thou knowest my downsitting and mine uprising, thou understandest my thought afar off. Ps. 139:2

- Neither is there any creature that is not manifest in his sight: but all things are naked and opened unto the eyes of him with whom we have to do. Heb. 4:13
