Matt. 4:21 3. And he entered into one of the ships, which was Simon's, and prayed him that he would thrust out a little from the land. And he sat down, and taught the people out of the ship. - The same day went Jesus out of the house, and sat by the sea side. Matt. 13:1 - And he brought him to Jesus. And when Jesus beheld him, he said, Thou art Simon the son of Jona: thou shalt be called Cephas, which is by interpretation, A stone. John 1:42 - And early in the morning he came again into the temple, and all the people came unto him; and he sat down, and taught them. John 8:2 4. Now when he had left speaking, he said unto Simon, Launch out into the deep, and let down your nets for a draught. - The fishers also shall mourn, and all they that cast angle into the brooks shall lament, and they that spread nets upon the waters shall languish. Isa. 19:8 - Notwithstanding, lest we should offend them, go thou to the sea, and cast an hook, and take up the fish that first cometh up; and when thou hast opened his mouth, thou shalt find a piece of money: that take, and give unto them for me and thee. Matt. 17:27 - And he said unto them, Cast the net on the right side of the ship, and ye shall find. They cast therefore, and now they were not able to draw it for the multitude of fishes. John 21:6 5. And Simon answering said unto him, Master, we have toiled all the night, and have taken nothing: nevertheless at thy word I will let down the net. - And his servants came near, and spake unto him, and said, My father, if the prophet had bid thee do some great thing, wouldest thou not have done it? how much rather then, when he saith to thee, Wash, and be clean? 2 Kings 5:13 - It is vain for you to rise up early, to sit up late, to eat the bread of sorrows: for so he giveth his beloved sleep. Ps. 127:2 - Simon Peter saith unto them, I go a fishing. They say unto him, We also go with thee. They went forth, and entered into a ship immediately; and that night they caught nothing. John 21:3 6. And when they had this done, they inclosed a great multitude of fishes: and their net brake. - And when thou art come in, thou shalt shut the door upon thee and upon thy sons, and shalt pour out into all those vessels, and thou shalt set aside that which is full. 2 Kings 4:4 - In the morning sow thy seed, and in the evening withhold not thine hand: for thou knowest not whether shall prosper, either this or that, or whether they both shall be alike good. Eccles. 11:6 - Simon Peter went up, and drew the net to land full of great fishes, an hundred and fifty and three: and for all there were so many, yet was not the net broken. John 21:11 7. And they beckoned unto their partners, which were in the other ship, that they should come and help them. And they came, and filled both the ships, so that they began to sink. - Thou shalt not see thy brother's ass or his ox fall down by the way, and hide thyself from them: thou shalt surely help him to lift them up again. Deut. 22:4 - Then he said, Go, borrow thee vessels abroad of all thy neighbors, even empty vessels; borrow not a few. 2 Kings 4:3 - And I intreat thee also, true yokefellow, help those women which laboured with me in the gospel, with Clement also, and with other my fellowlabourers, whose names are in the book of life. Phil. 4:3 8. When Simon Peter saw it, he fell down at Jesus' knees, saying, Depart from me; for I am a sinful man, O Lord. - And she said unto Elijah, What have I to do with thee, O thou man of God? art thou come unto me to call my sin to remembrance, and to slay my son? 1 Kings 17:18 - Then said I, Woe is me! for I am undone; because I am a man of unclean lips, and I dwell in the midst of a people of unclean lips: for mine eyes have seen the King, the LORD of hosts. Isa. 6:5 - The centurion answered and said, Lord, I am not worthy that thou shouldest come under my roof: but speak the word only, and my servant shall be healed. Matt. 8:8 9. For he was astonished, and all that were with him, at the draught of the fishes which they had taken: - For he wist not what to say; for they were sore afraid. Mark 9:6 - And they were all amazed, and spake among themselves, saying, What a word is this! for with authority and power he commandeth the unclean spirits, and they come out. Luke 4:36 - There is no fear in love; but perfect love casteth out fear: because fear hath torment. He that feareth is not made perfect in love. 1 John 4:18 10. And so was also James, and John, the sons of Zebedee, which were partners with Simon. And Jesus said unto Simon, Fear not; from henceforth thou shalt catch men. - Behold, I will send for many fishers, saith the LORD, and they shall fish them; and after will I send for many hunters, and they shall hunt them from every mountain, and from every hill, and out of the holes of the rocks. Jer. 16:16 - And he saith unto them, Follow me, and I will make you fishers of men. Matt. 4:19 - Again, the kingdom of heaven is like unto a net, that was cast into the sea, and gathered of every kind: Matt. 13:47 11. And when they had brought their ships to land, they forsook all, and followed him. - He that loveth father or mother more than me is not worthy of me: and he that loveth son or daughter more than me is not worthy of me. Matt. 10:37 - Then answered Peter and said unto him, Behold, we have forsaken all, and followed thee; what shall we have therefore? Matt. 19:27 - But he shall receive an hundredfold now in this time, houses, and brethren, and sisters, and mothers, and children, and lands, with persecutions; and in the world to come eternal life. Mark 10:30 12. And it came to pass, when he was in a certain city, behold a man full of leprosy: who seeing Jesus fell on his face, and besought him, saying, Lord, if thou wilt, thou canst make me clean. - And when Jesus was entered into Capernaum, there came unto him a centurion, beseeching him, Matt. 8:5 - And when the woman saw that she was not hid, she came trembling, and falling down before him, she declared unto him before all the people for what cause she had touched him, and how she was healed immediately. Luke 8:47 - And as he entered into a certain village, there met him ten men that were lepers, which stood afar off: Luke 17:12 13. And he put forth his hand, and touched him, saying, I will: be thou clean. And immediately the leprosy departed from him. - In the beginning God created the heaven and the earth. Gen. 1:1 - And Elisha sent a messenger unto him, saying, Go and wash in Jordan seven times, and thy flesh shall come again to thee, and thou shalt be clean. 2 Kings 5:10 - For I know the thoughts that I think toward you, saith the LORD, thoughts of peace, and not of evil, to give you an expected end. And he charged him to tell no man: but go, and shew thyself to the priest, and offer for thy cleansing, according as Moses commanded, for a testimony unto them. - And the priest shall see him: and, behold, if the plague be turned into white; then the priest shall pronounce him clean that hath the plague: he is clean. Lev. 13:17 - And the priest shall offer the burnt offering and the meat offering upon the altar: and the priest shall make an atonement for him, and he shall be clean. Luke 4:14 - And a great multitude followed him, because they saw his miracles which he did on them that were diseased. John 6:2 16. And he withdrew himself into the wilderness, and prayed. - And in the morning, rising up a great while before day, he went out, and departed into a solitary place, and there prayed. Mark 1:35 - And it came to pass in those days, that he went out into a mountain to pray, and continued all night in prayer to God. Luke 6:12 - When Jesus therefore perceived that they would come and take him by force, to make him a king, he departed again into a mountain himself alone. John 6:15 17. And it came to pass on a certain day, as he was teaching, that there were Pharisees and doctors of the law sitting by, which were come out of every town of Galilee, and Judaea, and Jerusalem: and the power of the Lord was present to heal them. - Then came together unto him the Pharisees, and certain of the scribes, which came from Jerusalem. Mark 7:1 - And the whole multitude sought to touch him: for there went virtue out of him, and healed them all. Luke 6:19 - And as he said these things unto them, the scribes and the Pharisees began to urge him vehemently, and to provoke him to speak of many things: Luke 11:53 18. And, behold, men brought in a bed a man which was taken with a palsy: and they sought means to bring him in, and to lay him before him. - And they come unto him, bringing one sick of the palsy, which was borne of four. Mark 2:3 - When Jesus saw him lie, and knew that he had been now a long time in that case, he saith unto him, Wilt thou be made whole? John 5:6 - And there he found a certain man named Aeneas, which had kept his bed eight years, and was sick of the palsy. Acts 9:33 19. And when they could not find by what way they might bring him in because of the multitude, they went upon the housetop, and let him down through the tiling with his couch into the midst before Jesus. - When thou buildest a new house, then thou shalt make a battlement for thy roof, that thou bring not blood upon thine house, if any man fall from thence. Deut. 22:8 - What I tell you in darkness, that speak ye in light: and what ye hear in the ear, that preach ye upon the housetops. Matt. 10:27 - On the morrow, as they went on their journey, and drew nigh unto the city, Peter went up upon the housetop to pray about the sixth hour: Acts 10:9 20. And when he saw their faith, he said unto him, Man, thy sins are forgiven thee. - And he said unto her, Thy sins are forgiven. Luke 7:48 - The same heard Paul speak: who stedfastly beholding him, and perceiving that he had faith to be healed, Acts 14:9 - And the prayer of faith shall save the sick, and the Lord shall raise him up; and if he have committed sins, they shall be forgiven him. James 5:15 21. And the scribes and the Pharisees began to reason, saying, Who is this which speaketh blasphemies? Who can forgive sins, but God alone? - None of them can by any means redeem his brother, nor give to God a ransom for him: Ps. 49:7 - I, even I, am he that blotteth out thy transgressions for mine own sake, and will not remember thy sins. Isa. 43:25 - Or what shall a man give in exchange for his soul? Mark 8:37 22. But when Jesus perceived their thoughts, he answering said unto them, What reason ye in your hearts? - But he knew their thoughts, and said to the man which had the withered hand, Rise up, and stand forth in the midst. And he arose and stood forth. Luke 6:8 - And Jesus, perceiving the thought of their heart, took a child, and set him by him, Luke 9:47 - And needed not that any should testify of man: for he knew what was in man. John 2:25 23. Whether is easier, to say, Thy sins be forgiven thee; or to say, Rise up and walk? - And he came and touched the bier: and they that bare him stood still. And he said, Young man, I say unto thee, Arise. Luke 7:14 - Jesus saith unto him, Rise, take up thy bed, and walk. John 5:8 - Then Peter said, Silver and gold have I none; but such as I have give I thee: In the name of Jesus Christ of Nazareth rise up and walk. Acts 3:6 24. But that ye may know that the Son of man hath power upon earth to forgive sins, (he said unto the sick of the palsy,) I say unto thee, Arise, and take up thy couch, and go into thine house. - I saw in the night visions, and, behold, one like the Son of man came with the clouds of heaven, and came to the Ancient of days, and they brought him near before him. Dan. 7:13 - And he said unto her, Thy sins are forgiven. Luke 7:48 - And Peter said unto him, Aeneas, Jesus Christ maketh thee whole: arise, and make thy bed. And he arose immediately. Acts 9:34 25. And immediately he rose up before them, and took up that whereon he lay, and departed to his own house, glorifying God. - And one of them, when he saw that he was healed, turned back, and with a loud voice glorified God, Luke 17:15 - And immediately he received his sight, and followed him, glorifying God: and all the people, when they saw it, gave praise unto God. Luke 18:43 - And he leaping up stood, and walked, and entered with them into the temple, walking, and leaping, and praising God. Acts 3:8 26. And they were all amazed, and they glorified God, and were filled with fear, saying, We have seen strange things to day. - And it shall be to me a name of joy, a praise and an honour before all the nations of the earth, which shall hear all the good that I do unto them: and they shall fear and tremble for all the goodness and for all the prosperity that I procure unto it. Jer. 33:9 - And immediately he arose, took up the bed, and went forth before them all; insomuch that they were all amazed, and glorified God, saying, We never saw it on this fashion. Mark 2:12 - And there came a fear on all: and they glorified God, saying, That a great prophet is risen up among us; and, That God hath visited his people. Luke 7:16 27. And after these things he went forth, and saw a publican, named Levi, sitting at the receipt of custom: and he said unto him, Follow me. - And as Jesus passed forth from thence, he saw a man, named Matthew, sitting at the receipt of custom: and he saith unto him, Follow me. And he arose, and followed him. Matt. 9:9 - Then said Jesus unto his disciples, If any man will come after me, let him deny himself, and take up his cross, and follow me. Matt. 16:24 - If any man serve me, let him follow me; and where I am, there shall also my servant be: if any man serve me, him will my Father honour. John 12:26 28. But their scribes and Pharisees murmured against his disciples, saying, Why do ye eat and drink with publicans and sinners? - For John came unto you in the way of righteousness, and ye believed him not: but the publicans and the harlots believed him: and ye, when ye had seen it, repented not afterward, that ye might believe him. Matt. 21:32 - The Son of man is come eating and drinking; and ye say, Behold a gluttonous man, and a winebibber, a friend of publicans and sinners! Luke 7:34 - And the Pharisees and scribes murmured, saying, This man receiveth sinners, and eateth with them. Luke 15:2 31. And Jesus answering said unto them, They that are whole need not a physician; but they that are sick. - Is there no balm in Gilead; is there no physician there? why then is not the health of the daughter of my people recovered? Jer. 8:22 - But when Jesus heard that, he said unto them, They that be whole need not a physician, but they that are sick. Matt. 9:12 - When Jesus heard it, he saith unto them, They that are whole have no need of the physician, but they that are sick: I came not to call the righteous, but sinners to repentance. Mark 2:17 32. I came not to call the righteous, but sinners to repentance. - For the Son of man is come to seek and to save that which was lost. Luke 19:10 - This is a faithful saying, and worthy of all acceptation, that Christ Jesus came into the world to save sinners; of whom I am chief. 1 Tim. 1:15 - The Lord is not slack concerning his promise, as some men count slackness; but is longsuffering to us-ward, not willing that any should perish, but that all should come to repentance. 2 Pet. 3:9 33. And they said unto him, Why do the disciples of John fast often, and make prayers, and likewise the disciples of the Pharisees; but thine eat and drink? - And when thou prayest, thou shalt not be as the hypocrites are: for they love to pray standing in the synagogues and in the corners of the streets, that they may be seen of men. Verily I say unto you, They have their reward. Matt. 6:5 - And it came to pass, that, as he was praying in a certain place, when he ceased, one of his disciples said unto him, Lord, teach us to pray, as John also taught his disciples. Luke 11:1 - I fast twice in the week, I give tithes of all that I possess. Luke 18:12 34. And he said unto them, Can ye make the children of the bridechamber fast, while the bridegroom is with them? - And Laban gathered together all the men of the place, and made a feast. Gen. 29:22 - So his father went down unto the woman: and Samson made there a feast; for so used the young men to do. Judg. 14:10 - And he saith unto me, Write, Blessed are they which are called unto the marriage supper of the Lamb. And he saith unto me, These are the true sayings of God. Rev. 19:9 35. But the days will come, when the bridegroom shall be taken away from them, and then shall they fast in those days. - And they say unto her, Woman, why weepest thou? She saith unto them, Because they have taken away my LORD, and I know not where they have laid him. John 20:13 - As they ministered to the Lord, and fasted, the Holy Ghost said, Separate me Barnabas and Saul for the work whereunto I have called them. Acts 13:2 - In weariness and painfulness, in watchings often, in hunger and thirst, in fastings often, in cold and nakedness. 2 Cor. 11:27 36. And he spake also a parable unto them; No man putteth a piece of a new garment upon an old; if otherwise, then both the new maketh a rent, and the piece that was taken out of the new agreeth not with the old. - Ye shall keep my statutes. Thou shalt not let thy cattle gender with a diverse kind: thou shalt not sow thy field with mingled seed: neither shall a garment mingled of linen and woolen come upon thee. Lev. 19:19 - Thou shalt not wear a garment of divers sorts, as of woolen and linen together. Deut. 22:11 - And what agreement hath the temple of God with idols? for ye are the temple of the living God; as God hath said, I will dwell in them, and walk in them; and I will be their God, and they shall be my people. 2 Cor. 6:16 37. And no man putteth new wine into old bottles; else the new wine will burst the bottles, and be spilled, and the bottles shall perish. - They did work wilily, and went and made as if they had been ambassadors, and took old sacks upon their asses, and wine bottles, old, and rent, and bound up; Josh. 9:4 - And these bottles of wine, which we filled, were new; and, behold, they be rent: and these our garments and our shoes are become old by reason of the very long journey. Josh. 9:13 - For I am become like a bottle in the smoke; yet do I not forget thy statutes. Ps. 119:83 38. But new wine must be put into new bottles; and both are preserved. - A new heart also will I give you, and a new spirit will I put within you: and I will take away the stony heart out of your flesh, and I will give you an heart of flesh. Ezek. 36:26 - Therefore if any man be in Christ, he is a new creature: old things are passed away; behold, all things are become new. 2 Cor. 5:17 - In that he saith, A new covenant, he hath made the first old. Now that which decayeth and waxeth old is ready to vanish away. Heb. 8:13 39. No man also having drunk old wine straightway desireth new: for he saith, The old is better. - All the best of the oil, and all the best of the wine, and of the wheat, the firstfruits of them which they shall offer unto the LORD, them have I given thee. Num. 18:12 - Thou hast put gladness in my heart, more than in the time that their corn and their wine increased. Ps. 4:7 - And saith unto him, Every man at the beginning doth set forth good wine; and when men have well drunk, then that which is worse: but thou hast kept the good wine until now. John 2:10 |
