1. And it came to pass afterward, that he went throughout every city and village, preaching and shewing the glad tidings of the kingdom of God: and the twelve were with him,

- The Spirit of the Lord GOD is upon me; because the LORD hath anointed me to preach good tidings unto the meek; he hath sent me to bind up the brokenhearted, to proclaim liberty to the captives, and the opening of the prison to them that are bound; Isa. 61:1

- And he said unto them, I must preach the kingdom of God to other cities also: for therefore am I sent. Luke 4:43

- And when it was day, he called unto him his disciples: and of them he chose twelve, whom also he named apostles; Luke 6:13

2. And certain women, which had been healed of evil spirits and infirmities, Mary called Magdalene, out of whom went seven devils,

- And many women were there beholding afar off, which followed Jesus from Galilee, ministering unto him: Matt. 27:55

- Among which was Mary Magdalene, and Mary the mother of James and Joses, and the mother of Zebedees children. Matt. 27:56

- Now when Jesus was risen early the first day of the week, he appeared first to Mary Magdalene, out of whom he had cast seven devils. Mark 16:9

3. And Joanna the wife of Chuza Herod's steward, and Susanna, and many others, which ministered unto him of their substance.

- It was Mary Magdalene and Joanna, and Mary the mother of James, and other women that were with them, which told these things unto the apostles. Luke 24:10

- Now there was at Joppa a certain disciple named Tabitha, which by interpretation is called Dorcas: this woman was full of good works and almsdeeds which she did. Acts 9:36

- Well reported of for good works; if she have brought up children, if she have lodged strangers, if she have washed the saints' feet, if she have relieved the afflicted, if she have diligently followed every good work. 1 Tim. 5:10

4. And when much people were gathered together, and were come to him out of every city, he spake by a parable:

- Son of man, put forth a riddle, and speak a parable unto the house of Israel; Ezek. 17:2

- And he said unto them, Unto you it is given to know the mystery of the kingdom of God: but unto them that are without, all these things are done in parables: Mark 4:11

- And the people saw them departing, and many knew him, and ran afoot thither out of all cities, and outwent them, and came together unto him. Mark 6:33

5. A sower went out to sow his seed: and as he sowed, some fell by the way side; and it was trodden down, and the fowls of the air devoured it.

- For as the rain cometh down, and the snow from heaven, and returneth not thither, but watereth the earth, and maketh it bring forth and bud, that it may give seed to the sower, and bread to the eater: Isa. 55:10

- Those by the way side are they that hear; then cometh the devil, and taketh away the word out of their hearts, lest they should believe and be saved. Luke 8:12

- Therefore we ought to give the more earnest heed to the things which we have heard, lest at any time we should let them slip. Heb. 2:1

6. And some fell upon a rock; and as soon as it was sprung up, it withered away, because it lacked moisture.

- Whilst it is yet in his greenness, and not cut down, it withereth before any other herb. Job 8:12

- Some fell upon stony places, where they had not much earth: and forthwith they sprung up, because they had no deepness of earth: Matt. 13:5

- They on the rock are they, which, when they hear, receive the word with joy; and these have no root, which for a while believe, and in time of temptation fall away. Luke 8:13

7. And some fell among thorns; and the thorns sprang up with it, and choked it.

- Thorns also and thistles shall it bring forth to thee; and thou shalt eat the herb of the field; Gen. 3:18

- For thus saith the LORD to the men of Judah and Jerusalem, Break up your fallow ground, and sow not among thorns. Jer. 4:3

- And that which fell among thorns are they, which, when they have heard, go forth, and are choked with cares and riches and pleasures of this life, and bring no fruit to perfection. Luke 8:14

8. And other fell on good ground, and sprang up, and bare fruit an hundredfold. And when he had said these things, he cried, He that hath ears to hear, let him hear.

- Then Isaac sowed in that land, and received in the same year an hundredfold: and the LORD blessed him. Gen. 26:12

- But that on the good ground are they, which in an honest and good heart, having heard the word, keep it, and bring forth fruit with patience. Luke 8:15

- He that hath an ear, let him hear what the Spirit saith unto the churches; To him that overcometh will I give to eat of the tree of life, which is in the midst of the paradise of God. Rev. 2:7

9. And his disciples asked him, saying, What might this parable be?

- And the disciples came, and said unto him, Why speakest thou unto them in parables? Matt. 13:10

- Then Jesus sent the multitude away, and went into the house: and his disciples came unto him, saying, Declare unto us the parable of the tares of the field. Matt. 13:36

- And when he was alone, they that were about him with the twelve asked of him the parable. Mark 4:10

10. And he said, Unto you it is given to know the mysteries of the kingdom of God: but to others in parables; that seeing they might not see, and hearing they might not understand.

- Make the heart of this people fat, and make their ears heavy, and shut their eyes; lest they see with their eyes, and hear with their ears, and understand with their heart, and convert, and be healed. Isa. 6:10

- Son of man, thou dwellest in the midst of a rebellious house, which have eyes to see, and see not; they have ears to hear, and hear not: for they are a rebellious house. Ezek. 12:2

- (According as it is written, God hath given them the spirit of slumber, eyes that they should not see, and ears that they should not hear;) unto this day. Rom. 11:8

11. Now the parable is this: The seed is the word of God.

- In the beginning was the Word, and the Word was with God, and the Word was God. John 1:1

- I have planted, Apollos watered; but God gave the increase. 1 Cor. 3:6

- Being born again, not of corruptible seed, but of incorruptible, by the word of God, which liveth and abideth for ever. 1 Pet. 1:23

12. Those by the way side are they that hear; then cometh the devil, and taketh away the word out of their hearts, lest they should believe and be saved.

- And when he cometh, he findeth it swept and garnished. Luke 11:25

- And with all deceivableness of unrighteousness in them that perish; because they received not the love of the truth, that they might be saved. 2 Thess. 2:10

- And the great dragon was cast out, that old serpent, called the Devil, and Satan, which deceiveth the whole world: he was cast out into the earth, and his angels were cast out with him. Rev. 12:9

- They soon forgat his works; they waited not for his counsel: Ps. 106:13

- And, lo, thou art unto them as a very lovely song of one that hath a pleasant voice, and can play well on an instrument: for they hear thy words, but they do them not. Ezek. 33:32

- O Ephraim, what shall I do unto thee? O Judah, what shall I do unto thee? for your goodness is as a morning cloud, and as the early dew it goeth away. Hos. 6:4

- Then said Jesus unto his disciples, Verily I say unto you, That a rich man shall hardly enter into the kingdom of heaven. Matt. 19:23

- And he said, This will I do: I will pull down my barns, and build greater; and there will I bestow all my fruits and my goods. Luke 12:18

- For the love of money is the root of all evil: which while some coveted after, they have erred from the faith, and pierced themselves through with many sorrows. 1 Tim. 6:10

15. But that on the good ground are they, which in an honest and good heart, having heard the word, keep it, and bring forth fruit with patience.

- And if thou wilt walk before me, as David thy father walked, in integrity of heart, and in uprightness, to do according to all that I have commanded thee, and wilt keep my statutes and my judgments: 1 Kings 9:4

- And a certain woman named Lydia, a seller of purple, of the city of Thyatira, which worshipped God, heard us: whose heart the Lord opened, that she attended unto the things which were spoken of Paul. Acts 16:14

- For ye have need of patience, that, after ye have done the will of God, ye might receive the promise. Heb. 10:36

16. No man, when he hath lighted a candle, covereth it with a vessel, or putteth it under a bed; but setteth it on a candlestick, that they which enter in may see the light.

- Ye are the light of the world. A city that is set on an hill cannot be hid. Matt. 5:14

- Let your light so shine before men, that they may see your good works, and glorify your Father which is in heaven. Matt. 5:16

- That ye may be blameless and harmless, the sons of God, without rebuke, in the midst of a crooked and perverse nation, among whom ye shine as lights in the world; Phil. 2:15

17. For nothing is secret, that shall not be made manifest; neither any thing hid, that shall not be known and come abroad.

- He discovereth deep things out of darkness, and bringeth out to light the shadow of death. Job 12:22

- For God shall bring every work into judgment, with every secret thing, whether it be good, or whether it be evil. Eccles. 12:14

- Therefore judge nothing before the time, until the Lord come, who both will bring to light the hidden things of darkness, and will make manifest the counsels of the hearts: and then shall every man have praise of God. 1 Cor. 4:5

18. Take heed therefore how ye hear: for whosoever hath, to him shall be given; and whosoever hath not, from him shall be taken even that which he seemeth to have.

- And he said unto them, Take heed what ye hear: with what measure ye mete, it shall be measured to you: and unto you that hear shall more be given. Mark 4:24

- For I say unto you, That unto every one which hath shall be given; and from him that hath not, even that he hath shall be taken away from him. Luke 19:26

- And if any man think that he knoweth any thing, he knoweth nothing yet as he ought to know. 1 Cor. 8:2

19. Then came to him his mother and his brethren, and could not come at him for the press.

- And when his friends heard of it, they went out to lay hold on him: for they said, He is beside himself. Mark 3:21

- Then came to him his mother and his brethren, and could not come at him for the press. Luke 8:19

- For neither did his brethren believe in him. John 7:5

20. And it was told him by certain which said, Thy mother and thy brethren stand without, desiring to see thee.

- And when they saw him, they were amazed: and his mother said unto him, Son, why hast thou thus dealt with us? behold, thy father and I have sought thee sorrowing. Luke 2:48

- And when they wanted wine, the mother of Jesus saith unto him, They have no wine. John 2:3

- His brethren therefore said unto him, Depart hence, and go into Judaea, that thy disciples also may see the works that thou doest. John 7:3

21. And he answered and said unto them, My mother and my brethren are these which hear the word of God, and do it.

- Who said unto his father and to his mother, I have not seen him; neither did he acknowledge his brethren, nor knew his own children: for they have observed thy word, and kept thy covenant. Deut. 33:9

- But he said, Yea rather, blessed are they that hear the word of God, and keep it. Luke 11:28

- Ye are my friends, if ye do whatsoever I command you. John 15:14

22. Now it came to pass on a certain day, that he went into a ship with his disciples: and he said unto them, Let us go over unto the other side of the lake. And they launched forth.

- Now when Jesus saw great multitudes about him, he gave commandment to depart unto the other side. Matt. 8:18

- And straightway Jesus constrained his disciples to get into a ship, and to go before him unto the other side, while he sent the multitudes away. Matt. 14:22

- After these things Jesus went over the sea of Galilee, which is the sea of Tiberias. John 6:1

23. But as they sailed he fell asleep: and there came down a storm of wind on the lake; and they were filled with water, and were in jeopardy.

- Awake, why sleepest thou, O Lord? arise, cast us not off for ever. Ps. 44:23

- And he saw them toiling in rowing; for the wind was contrary unto them: and about the fourth watch of the night he cometh unto them, walking upon the sea, and would have passed by them. Mark 6:48

- And we being exceedingly tossed with a tempest, the next day they lightened the ship; Acts 27:18

24. And they came to him, and awoke him, saying, Master, master, we perish. Then he arose, and rebuked the wind and the raging of the water: and they ceased, and there was a calm.

- And said, Hitherto shalt thou come, but no further: and here shall thy proud waves be stayed? Job 38:11

- Then they cry unto the LORD in their trouble, and he bringeth them out of their distresses. Ps. 107:28

- He maketh the storm a calm, so that the waves thereof are still. Ps. 107:29

25. And he said unto them, Where is your faith? And they being afraid wondered, saying one to another, What manner of man is this! for he commandeth even the winds and water, and they obey him.

- And God said, Let the waters under the heaven be gathered together unto one place, and let the dry land appear: and it was so. Gen. 1:9

- And immediately Jesus stretched forth his hand, and caught him, and said unto him, O thou of little faith, wherefore didst thou doubt? Matt. 14:31

- If then God so clothe the grass, which is to day in the field, and to morrow is cast into the oven; how much more will he clothe you, O ye of little faith? Luke 12:28

26. And they arrived at the country of the Gadarenes, which is over against Galilee.

- And when he was come to the other side into the country of the Gergesenes, there met him two possessed with devils, coming out of the tombs, exceeding fierce, so that no man might pass by that way. Matt. 8:28

- And they came over unto the other side of the sea, into the country of the Gadarenes. Mark 5:1

- Then the whole multitude of the country of the Gadarenes round about besought him to depart from them; for they were taken with great fear: and he went up into the ship, and returned back again. Luke 8:37

27. And when he went forth to land, there met him out of the city a certain man, which had devils long time, and ware no clothes, neither abode in any house, but in the tombs.

- And he stripped off his clothes also, and prophesied before Samuel in like manner, and lay down naked all that day and all that night. Wherefore they say, Is Saul also among the prophets? 1 Sam. 19:24

- Which remain among the graves, and lodge in the monuments, which eat swine's flesh, and broth of abominable things is in their vessels; Isa. 65:4

- And always, night and day, he was in the mountains, and in the tombs, crying, and cutting himself with stones. Mark 5:5

28. When he saw Jesus, he cried out, and fell down before him, and with a loud voice said, What have I to do with thee, Jesus, thou Son of God most high? I beseech thee, torment me not.

- He shall be great, and shall be called the Son of the Highest: and the Lord God shall give unto him the throne of his father David: Luke 1:32

- And devils also came out of many, crying out, and saying, Thou art Christ the Son of God. And he rebuking them suffered them not to speak: for they knew that he was Christ. Luke 4:41

- Thou believest that there is one God; thou doest well: the devils also believe, and tremble. James 2:19

29. (For he had commanded the unclean spirit to come out of the man. For oftentimes it had caught him: and he was kept bound with chains and in fetters; and he brake the bands, and was driven of the devil into the wilderness.)

- And ofttimes it hath cast him into the fire, and into the waters, to destroy him: but if thou canst do any thing, have compassion on us, and help us. Mark 9:22

- And the man in whom the evil spirit was leaped on them, and overcame them, and prevailed against them, so that they fled out of that house naked and wounded. Acts 19:16

- And that they may recover themselves out of the snare of the devil, who are taken captive by him at his will. 2 Tim. 2:26

30. And Jesus asked him, saying, What is thy name? And he said, Legion: because many devils were entered into him.

- And he said unto him, What is thy name? And he said, Jacob. Gen. 32:27

- Thinkest thou that I cannot now pray to my Father, and he shall presently give me more than twelve legions of angels? Matt. 26:53

31. And they besought him that he would not command them to go out into the deep.

- Or, Who shall descend into the deep? (that is, to bring up Christ again from the dead.) Rom. 10:7

- For if God spared not the angels that sinned, but cast them down to hell, and delivered them into chains of darkness, to be reserved unto judgment; 2 Pet. 2:4

- And cast him into the bottomless pit, and shut him up, and set a seal upon him, that he should deceive the nations no more, till the thousand years should be fulfilled: and after that he must be loosed a little season. Rev. 20:3

32. And there was there an herd of many swine feeding on the mountain: and they besought him that he would suffer them to enter into them. And he suffered them.

- And the swine, though he divide the hoof, and be cloven-footed, yet he cheweth not the cud; he is unclean to you. Lev. 11:7

33. Then went the devils out of the man, and entered into the swine: and the herd ran violently down a steep place into the lake, and were choked.

- And ofttimes it hath cast him into the fire, and into the waters, to destroy him: but if thou canst do any thing, have compassion on us, and help us. Mark 9:22

- Ye are of your father the devil, and the lusts of your father ye will do. He was a murderer from the beginning, and abode not in the truth, because there is no truth in him. When he speaketh a lie, he speaketh of his own: for he is a liar, and the father of it. John 8:44

- Be sober, be vigilant; because your adversary the devil, as a roaring lion, walketh about, seeking whom he may devour: 1 Pet. 5:8

34. When they that fed them saw what was done, they fled, and went and told it in the city and in the country.

- For the pastors are become brutish, and have not sought the LORD: therefore they shall not prosper, and all their flocks shall be scattered. Jer. 10:21

- Now when they were going, behold, some of the watch came into the city, and shewed unto the chief priests all the things that were done. Matt. 28:11

- And he went and joined himself to a citizen of that country; and he sent him into his fields to feed swine. Luke 15:15

35. Then they went out to see what was done; and came to Jesus, and found the man, out of whom the devils were departed, sitting at the feet of Jesus, clothed, and in his right mind: and they were afraid.

- At the same time my reason returned unto me; and for the glory of my kingdom, mine honour and brightness returned unto me; and my counsellors and my lords sought unto me; and I was established in my kingdom, and excellent majesty was added unto me. Dan. 4:36

- And she had a sister called Mary, which also sat at Jesus' feet, and heard his word. Luke 10:39

- I am verily a man which am a Jew, born in Tarsus, a city in Cilicia, yet brought up in this city at the feet of Gamaliel, and taught according to the perfect manner of the law of the fathers, and was zealous toward God, as ye all are this day. Acts 22:3

36. They also which saw it told them by what means he that was possessed of the devils was healed.

- But if he will not hear thee, then take with thee one or two more, that in the mouth of two or three witnesses every word may be established. Matt. 18:16

- For we cannot but speak the things which we have seen and heard. Acts 4:20

- And we are witnesses of all things which he did both in the land of the Jews, and in Jerusalem; whom they slew and hanged on a tree: Acts 10:39

37. Then the whole multitude of the country of the Gadarenes round about besought him to depart from them; for they were taken with great fear: and he went up into the ship, and returned back again.

- And she said unto Elijah, What have I to do with thee, O thou man of God? art thou come unto me to call my sin to remembrance, and to slay my son? 1 Kings 17:18

- When Simon Peter saw it, he fell down at Jesus' knees, saying, Depart from me; for I am a sinful man, O Lord. Luke 5:8

- And they came and besought them, and brought them out, and desired them to depart out of the city. Acts 16:39

38. Now the man out of whom the devils were departed besought him that he might be with him: but Jesus sent him away, saying,

- And he sent them to preach the kingdom of God, and to heal the sick. Luke 9:2

- After these things the LORD appointed other seventy also, and sent them two and two before his face into every city and place, whither he himself would come. Luke 10:1

- Therefore said he unto them, The harvest truly is great, but the labourers are few: pray ye therefore the Lord of the harvest, that he would send forth labourers into his harvest. Luke 10:2

39. Return to thine own house, and shew how great things God hath done unto thee. And he went his way, and published throughout the whole city how great things Jesus had done unto him.

- And saith unto him, See thou say nothing to any man: but go thy way, shew thyself to the priest, and offer for thy cleansing those things which Moses commanded, for a testimony unto them. Mark 1:44

- But he went out, and began to publish it much, and to blaze abroad the matter, insomuch that Jesus could no more openly enter into the city, but was without in desert places: and they came to him from every quarter. Mark 1:45

- Come, see a man, which told me all things that ever I did: is not this the Christ? John 4:29

40. And it came to pass, that, when Jesus was returned, the people gladly received him: for they were all waiting for him.

- And he entered into a ship, and passed over, and came into his own city. Matt. 9:1

- David therefore himself calleth him Lord; and whence is he then his son? And the common people heard him gladly. Mark 12:37

- And when it was day, he departed and went into a desert place: and the people sought him, and came unto him, and stayed him, that he should not depart from them. Luke 4:42

41. And, behold, there came a man named Jairus, and he was a ruler of the synagogue: and he fell down at Jesus' feet, and besought him that he would come into his house:

- And there came a leper to him, beseeching him, and kneeling down to him, and saying unto him, If thou wilt, thou canst make me clean. Mark 1:40

- These words spake his parents, because they feared the Jews: for the Jews had agreed already, that if any man did confess that he was Christ, he should be put out of the synagogue. John 9:22

- And Crispus, the chief ruler of the synagogue, believed on the Lord with all his house; and many of the Corinthians hearing believed, and were baptized. Acts 18:8

42. For he had one only daughter, about twelve years of age, and she lay a dying. But as he went the people thronged him.

- Also, thou son of man, shall it not be in the day when I take from them their strength, the joy of their glory, the desire of their eyes, and that whereupon they set their minds, their sons and their daughters, Ezek. 24:25

- While he spake these things unto them, behold, there came a certain ruler, and worshipped him, saying, My daughter is even now dead: but come and lay thy hand upon her, and she shall live. Matt. 9:18

- Now when he came nigh to the gate of the city, behold, there was a dead man carried out, the only son of his mother, and she was a widow: and much people of the city was with her. Luke 7:12

43. And a woman having an issue of blood twelve years, which had spent all her living upon physicians, neither could be healed of any,

- And if a woman have an issue of her blood many days out of the time of her separation, or if it run beyond the time of her separation; all the days of the issue of her uncleanness shall be as the days of her separation: she shall be unclean. Lev. 15:25

- When a man hath taken a wife, and married her, and it come to pass that she find no favor in his eyes, because he hath found some uncleanness in her: then let him write her a bill of divorcement, and give it in her hand, and send her out of his house. Deut. 24:1

- And Asa in the thirty and ninth year of his reign was diseased in his feet, until his disease was exceeding great: yet in his disease he sought not to the LORD, but to the physicians. 2 Chron. 16:12

44. Came behind him, and touched the border of his garment: and immediately her issue of blood stanched.

- And it shall be unto you for a fringe, that ye may look upon it, and remember all the commandments of the LORD, and do them; and that ye seek not after your own heart and your own eyes, after which ye use to go a whoring: Num. 15:39

- And whithersoever he entered, into villages, or cities, or country, they laid the sick in the streets, and besought him that they might touch if it were but the border of his garment: and as many as touched him were made whole. Mark 6:56

- So that from his body were brought unto the sick handkerchiefs or aprons, and the diseases departed from them, and the evil spirits went out of them. Acts 19:12

45. And Jesus said, Who touched me? When all denied, Peter and they that were with him said, Master, the multitude throng thee and press thee, and sayest thou, Who touched me?

- And when they could not come nigh unto him for the press, they uncovered the roof where he was: and when they had broken it up, they let down the bed wherein the sick of the palsy lay. Mark 2:4

- And he spake to his disciples, that a small ship should wait on him because of the multitude, lest they should throng him. Mark 3:9

- And he looked round about to see her that had done this thing. Mark 5:32

46. And Jesus said, Somebody hath touched me: for I perceive that virtue is gone out of me.

- And Jesus put forth his hand, and touched him, saying, I will; be thou clean. And immediately his leprosy was cleansed. Matt. 8:3

- And he cometh to Bethsaida; and they bring a blind man unto him, and besought him to touch him. Mark 8:22

- And the whole multitude sought to touch him: for there went virtue out of him, and healed them all. Luke 6:19

47. And when the woman saw that she was not hid, she came trembling, and falling down before him, she declared unto him before all the people for what cause she had touched him, and how she was healed immediately.

- Come and hear, all ye that fear God, and I will declare what he hath done for my soul. Ps. 66:16

- And fell down on his face at his feet, giving him thanks: and he was a Samaritan. Luke 17:16

- Then he called for a light, and sprang in, and came trembling, and fell down before Paul and Silas, Acts 16:29

48. And he said unto her, Daughter, be of good comfort: thy faith hath made thee whole; go in peace.

- And, behold, they brought to him a man sick of the palsy, lying on a bed: and Jesus seeing their faith said unto the sick of the palsy; Son, be of good cheer; thy sins be forgiven thee. Matt. 9:2

- And he said unto him, Arise, go thy way: thy faith hath made thee whole. Luke 17:19

- The same heard Paul speak: who stedfastly beholding him, and perceiving that he had faith to be healed, Acts 14:9

49. While he yet spake, there cometh one from the ruler of the synagogue's house, saying to him, Thy daughter is dead; trouble not the Master.

- While he spake these things unto them, behold, there came a certain ruler, and worshipped him, saying, My daughter is even now dead: but come and lay thy hand upon her, and she shall live. Matt. 9:18

- Then Jesus went with them. And when he was now not far from the house, the centurion sent friends to him, saying unto him, Lord, trouble not thyself: for I am not worthy that thou shouldest enter under my roof: Luke 7:6

- And he from within shall answer and say, Trouble me not: the door is now shut, and my children are with me in bed; I cannot rise and give thee. Luke 11:7

50. But when Jesus heard it, he answered him, saying, Fear not: believe only, and she shall be made whole.
