1. And when they came nigh to Jerusalem, unto Bethphage and Bethany, at the mount of Olives, he sendeth forth two of his disciples,

- And his feet shall stand in that day upon the mount of Olives, which is before Jerusalem on the east, and the mount of Olives shall cleave in the midst thereof toward the east and toward the west, and there shall be a very great valley; and half of the mountain shall remove toward the north, and half of it toward the south. Zech. 14:4

- And he left them, and went out of the city into Bethany; and he lodged there. Matt. 21:17

- And as he sat upon the mount of Olives, the disciples came unto him privately, saying, Tell us, when shall these things be? and what shall be the sign of thy coming, and of the end of the world? Matt. 24:3

2. And saith unto them, Go your way into the village over against you: and as soon as ye be entered into it, ye shall find a colt tied, whereon never man sat; loose him, and bring him.

- And he said, Go into the city to such a man, and say unto him, The Master saith, My time is at hand; I will keep the passover at thy house with my disciples. Matt. 26:18

- And he sendeth forth two of his disciples, and saith unto them, Go ye into the city, and there shall meet you a man bearing a pitcher of water: follow him. Mark 14:13

- And this shall be a sign unto you; Ye shall find the babe wrapped in swaddling clothes, lying in a manger. Luke 2:12

3. And if any man say unto you, Why do ye this? say ye that the Lord hath need of him; and straightway he will send him hither.

- And Saul also went home to Gibeah; and there went with him a band of men, whose hearts God had touched. 1 Sam. 10:26

- Arise, get thee to Zarephath, which belongeth to Zidon, and dwell there: behold, I have commanded a widow woman there to sustain thee. 1 Kings 17:9

- But who am I, and what is my people, that we should be able to offer so willingly after this sort? for all things come of thee, and of thine own have we given thee. 1 Chron. 29:14

4. And they went their way, and found the colt tied by the door without in a place where two ways met; and they loose him.

- And the disciples went, and did as Jesus commanded them, Matt. 21:6

- And the disciples did as Jesus had appointed them; and they made ready the passover. Matt. 26:19

- And they that were sent went their way, and found even as he had said unto them. Luke 19:32

5. And certain of them that stood there said unto them, What do ye, loosing the colt?

- And every firstling of an ass thou shalt redeem with a lamb; and if thou wilt not redeem it, then thou shalt break his neck: and all the firstborn of man among thy children shalt thou redeem. Ex. 13:13

- Thou shalt not covet thy neighbor's house, thou shalt not covet thy neighbor's wife, nor his manservant, nor his maidservant, nor his ox, nor his ass, nor any thing that is thy neighbor's. Ex. 20:17

- And the king said unto Ziba, What meanest thou by these? And Ziba said, The asses be for the king's household to ride on; and the bread and summer fruit for the young men to eat; and the wine, that such as be faint in the wilderness may drink. 2 Sam. 16:2

6. And they said unto them even as Jesus had commanded: and they let them go.

- But who am I, and what is my people, that we should be able to offer so willingly after this sort? for all things come of thee, and of thine own have we given thee. 1 Chron. 29:14

- Who hath prevented me, that I should repay him? whatsoever is under the whole heaven is mine. Job 41:11

- He that hath pity upon the poor lendeth unto the LORD; and that which he hath given will he pay him again. Prov. 19:17

7. And they brought the colt to Jesus, and cast their garments on him; and he sat upon him.

- Rejoice greatly, O daughter of Zion; shout, O daughter of Jerusalem: behold, thy King cometh unto thee: he is just, and having salvation; lowly, and riding upon an ass, and upon a colt the foal of an ass. Zech. 9:9

- And brought the ass, and the colt, and put on them their clothes, and they set him thereon. Matt. 21:7

- Casting all your care upon him; for he careth for you. 1 Pet. 5:7

8. And many spread their garments in the way: and others cut down branches off the trees, and strawed them in the way.

- And ye shall take you on the first day the boughs of goodly trees, branches of palm trees, and the boughs of thick trees, and willows of the brook; and ye shall rejoice before the LORD your God seven days. Lev. 23:40

- Then they hasted, and took every man his garment, and put it under him on the top of the stairs, and blew with trumpets, saying, Jehu is king. 2 Kings 9:13

- He will turn again, he will have compassion upon us; he will subdue our iniquities; and thou wilt cast all their sins into the depths of the sea. Mic. 7:19

9. And they that went before, and they that followed, cried, saying, Hosanna; Blessed is he that cometh in the name of the Lord:

- Blessed be he that cometh in the name of the LORD: we have blessed you out of the house of the LORD. Ps. 118:26

- For I say unto you, Ye shall not see me henceforth, till ye shall say, Blessed is he that cometh in the name of the Lord. Matt. 23:39

- Saying, Blessed be the King that cometh in the name of the Lord: peace in heaven, and glory in the highest. Luke 19:38

10. Blessed be the kingdom of our father David, that cometh in the name of the Lord: Hosanna in the highest.

- Praise ye the LORD. Praise ye the LORD from the heavens: praise him in the heights. Ps. 148:1

- And David my servant shall be king over them; and they all shall have one shepherd: they shall also walk in my judgments, and observe my statutes, and do them. Ezek. 37:24

- Glory to God in the highest, and on earth peace, good will toward men. Luke 2:14

11. And Jesus entered into Jerusalem, and into the temple: and when he had looked round about upon all things, and now the eventide was come, he went out unto Bethany with the twelve.

- Behold, I will send my messenger, and he shall prepare the way before me: and the LORD, whom ye seek, shall suddenly come to his temple, even the messenger of the covenant, whom ye delight in: behold, he shall come, saith the LORD of hosts. Mal. 3:1

- And in the day time he was teaching in the temple; and at night he went out, and abode in the mount that is called the mount of Olives. Luke 21:37

- And early in the morning he came again into the temple, and all the people came unto him; and he sat down, and taught them. John 8:2

12. And on the morrow, when they were come from Bethany, he was hungry:

- And when he had fasted forty days and forty nights, he was afterward an hungred. Matt. 4:2

- At that time Jesus went on the sabbath day through the corn; and his disciples were an hungred, and began to pluck the ears of corn and to eat. Matt. 12:1

- For I was an hungred, and ye gave me meat: I was thirsty, and ye gave me drink: I was a stranger, and ye took me in: Matt. 25:35

13. And seeing a fig tree afar off having leaves, he came, if haply he might find any thing thereon: and when he came to it, he found nothing but leaves; for the time of figs was not yet.

- And the eyes of them both were opened, and they knew that they were naked; and they sewed fig leaves together, and made themselves aprons. Gen. 3:7

- Woe is me! for I am as when they have gathered the summer fruits, as the grapegleanings of the vintage: there is no cluster to eat: my soul desired the firstripe fruit. Mic. 7:1

- He spake also this parable; A certain man had a fig tree planted in his vineyard; and he came and sought fruit thereon, and found none. Luke 13:6

14. And Jesus answered and said unto it, No man eat fruit of thee hereafter for ever. And his disciples heard it.

- And I will destroy her vines and her fig trees, whereof she hath said, These are my rewards that my lovers have given me: and I will make them a forest, and the beasts of the field shall eat them. Hos. 2:12

- I found Israel like grapes in the wilderness; I saw your fathers as the firstripe in the fig tree at her first time: but they went to Baalpeor, and separated themselves unto that shame; and their abominations were according as they loved. Hos. 9:10

- And when he saw a fig tree in the way, he came to it, and found nothing thereon, but leaves only, and said unto it, Let no fruit grow on thee henceforward for ever. And presently the fig tree withered away. Matt. 21:19

15. And they come to Jerusalem: and Jesus went into the temple, and began to cast out them that sold and bought in the temple, and overthrew the tables of the moneychangers, and the seats of them that sold doves;

- And if she be not able to bring a lamb, then she shall bring two turtles, or two young pigeons; the one for the burnt offering, and the other for a sin offering: and the priest shall make an atonement for her, and she shall be clean. Lev. 12:8

- And thou shalt bestow that money for whatsoever thy soul lusteth after, for oxen, or for sheep, or for wine, or for strong drink, or for whatsoever thy soul desireth: and thou shalt eat there before the LORD thy God, and thou shalt rejoice, thou, and thine household, Deut. 14:26

- And it grieved me sore: therefore I cast forth all the household stuff to Tobiah out of the chamber. Neh. 13:8

16. And would not suffer that any man should carry any vessel through the temple.

- And it came to pass, that when the gates of Jerusalem began to be dark before the sabbath, I commanded that the gates should be shut, and charged that they should not be opened till after the sabbath: and some of my servants set I at the gates, that there should no burden be brought in on the sabbath day. Neh. 13:19

- Thus saith the LORD; Take heed to yourselves, and bear no burden on the sabbath day, nor bring it in by the gates of Jerusalem; Jer. 17:21

- The Jews therefore said unto him that was cured, It is the sabbath day: it is not lawful for thee to carry thy bed. John 5:10

17. And he taught, saying unto them, Is it not written, My house shall be called of all nations the house of prayer? but ye have made it a den of thieves.

- Hear thou in heaven thy dwelling place, and do according to all that the stranger calleth to thee for: that all people of the earth may know thy name, to fear thee, as do thy people Israel; and that they may know that this house, which I have builded, is called by thy name. 1 Kings 8:43

- Even them will I bring to my holy mountain, and make them joyful in my house of prayer: their burnt offerings and their sacrifices shall be accepted upon mine altar; for mine house shall be called an house of prayer for all people. Isa. 56:7

- Is this house, which is called by my name, become a den of robbers in your eyes? Behold, even I have seen it, saith the LORD. Jer. 7:11

18. And the scribes and chief priests heard it, and sought how they might destroy him: for they feared him, because all the people was astonished at his doctrine.

- And it came to pass, when Ahab saw Elijah, that Ahab said unto him, Art thou he that troubleth Israel? 1 Kings 18:17

- And it came to pass, when Jesus had ended these sayings, the people were astonished at his doctrine: Matt. 7:28

- And they sought to lay hold on him, but feared the people: for they knew that he had spoken the parable against them: and they left him, and went their way. Mark 12:12

19. And when even was come, he went out of the city.

- And Jesus entered into Jerusalem, and into the temple: and when he had looked round about upon all things, and now the eventide was come, he went out unto Bethany with the twelve. Mark 11:11

- And in the day time he was teaching in the temple; and at night he went out, and abode in the mount that is called the mount of Olives. Luke 21:37

- While ye have light, believe in the light, that ye may be the children of light. These things spake Jesus, and departed, and did hide himself from them. John 12:36

20. And in the morning, as they passed by, they saw the fig tree dried up from the roots.

- His roots shall be dried up beneath, and above shall his branch be cut off. Job 18:16

- If a man abide not in me, he is cast forth as a branch, and is withered; and men gather them, and cast them into the fire, and they are burned. John 15:6

- But that which beareth thorns and briers is rejected, and is nigh unto cursing; whose end is to be burned. Heb. 6:8

21. And Peter calling to remembrance saith unto him, Master, behold, the fig tree which thou cursedst is withered away.

- The curse of the LORD is in the house of the wicked: but he blesseth the habitation of the just. Prov. 3:33

- Then said he unto me, This is the curse that goeth forth over the face of the whole earth: for every one that stealeth shall be cut off as on this side according to it; and every one that sweareth shall be cut off as on that side according to it. Zech. 5:3

- And Jesus answered and said unto it, No man eat fruit of thee hereafter for ever. And his disciples heard it. Mark 11:14

22. And Jesus answering saith unto them, Have faith in God.

- And they rose early in the morning, and went forth into the wilderness of Tekoa: and as they went forth, Jehoshaphat stood and said, Hear me, O Judah, and ye inhabitants of Jerusalem; Believe in the LORD your God, so shall ye be established; believe his prophets, so shall ye prosper. 2 Chron. 20:20

- Trust in him at all times; ye people, pour out your heart before him: God is a refuge for us. Selah. Ps. 62:8

- Let not your heart be troubled: ye believe in God, believe also in me. John 14:1

23. For verily I say unto you, That whosoever shall say unto this mountain, Be thou removed, and be thou cast into the sea; and shall not doubt in his heart, but shall believe that those things which he saith shall come to pass; he shall have whatsoever he saith.

- And the Lord said, If ye had faith as a grain of mustard seed, ye might say unto this sycamine tree, Be thou plucked up by the root, and be thou planted in the sea; and it should obey you. Luke 17:6

- And though I have the gift of prophecy, and understand all mysteries, and all knowledge; and though I have all faith, so that I could remove mountains, and have not charity, I am nothing. 1 Cor. 13:2

- But let him ask in faith, nothing wavering. For he that wavereth is like a wave of the sea driven with the wind and tossed. James 1:6

24. Therefore I say unto you, What things soever ye desire, when ye pray, believe that ye receive them, and ye shall have them.

- Ask, and it shall be given you; seek, and ye shall find; knock, and it shall be opened unto you: Matt. 7:7

- If ye abide in me, and my words abide in you, ye shall ask what ye will, and it shall be done unto you. John 15:7

- And whatsoever we ask, we receive of him, because we keep his commandments, and do those things that are pleasing in his sight. 1 John 3:22

25. And when ye stand praying, forgive, if ye have ought against any: that your Father also which is in heaven may forgive you your trespasses.

- Leave there thy gift before the altar, and go thy way; first be reconciled to thy brother, and then come and offer thy gift. Matt. 5:24

- And forgive us our debts, as we forgive our debtors. Matt. 6:12

- Forbearing one another, and forgiving one another, if any man have a quarrel against any: even as Christ forgave you, so also do ye. Col. 3:13

26. But if ye do not forgive, neither will your Father which is in heaven forgive your trespasses.

- Then his lord, after that he had called him, said unto him, O thou wicked servant, I forgave thee all that debt, because thou desiredst me: Matt. 18:32

- So likewise shall my heavenly Father do also unto you, if ye from your hearts forgive not every one his brother their trespasses. Matt. 18:35

- For he shall have judgment without mercy, that hath shewed no mercy; and mercy rejoiceth against judgment. James 2:13

27. And they come again to Jerusalem: and as he was walking in the temple, there come to him the chief priests, and the scribes, and the elders,

- Behold, I will send my messenger, and he shall prepare the way before me: and the LORD, whom ye seek, shall suddenly come to his temple, even the messenger of the covenant, whom ye delight in: behold, he shall come, saith the LORD of hosts. Mal. 3:1

- And Jesus walked in the temple in Solomon's porch. John 10:23

- Jesus answered him, I spake openly to the world; I ever taught in the synagogue, and in the temple, whither the Jews always resort; and in secret have I said nothing. John 18:20

28. And say unto him, By what authority doest thou these things? and who gave thee this authority to do these things?

- And he said, Who made thee a prince and a judge over us? intendest thou to kill me, as thou killedst the Egyptian? And Moses feared, and said, Surely this thing is known. Ex. 2:14

- And when they had set them in the midst, they asked, By what power, or by what name, have ye done this? Acts 4:7

- But he that did his neighbour wrong thrust him away, saying, Who made thee a ruler and a judge over us? Acts 7:27

29. And Jesus answered and said unto them, I will also ask of you one question, and answer me, and I will tell you by what authority I do these things.

- Behold, I send you forth as sheep in the midst of wolves: be ye therefore wise as serpents, and harmless as doves. Matt. 10:16

- Then said Jesus unto them, I will ask you one thing; Is it lawful on the sabbath days to do good, or to do evil? to save life, or to destroy it? Luke 6:9

- Let your speech be alway with grace, seasoned with salt, that ye may know how ye ought to answer every man. Col. 4:6

30. The baptism of John, was it from heaven, or of men? answer me.

- For I say unto you, Among those that are born of women there is not a greater prophet than John the Baptist: but he that is least in the kingdom of God is greater than he. Luke 7:28

- For John the Baptist came neither eating bread nor drinking wine; and ye say, He hath a devil. Luke 7:33

- He said, I am the voice of one crying in the wilderness, Make straight the way of the Lord, as said the prophet Esaias. John 1:23

31. And they reasoned with themselves, saying, If we shall say, From heaven; he will say, Why then did ye not believe him?

- But the Pharisees and lawyers rejected the counsel of God against themselves, being not baptized of him. Luke 7:30

- And I saw, and bare record that this is the Son of God. John 1:34

- Ye sent unto John, and he bare witness unto the truth. John 5:33

32. But if we shall say, Of men; they feared the people: for all men counted John, that he was a prophet indeed.

- And when he would have put him to death, he feared the multitude, because they counted him as a prophet. Matt. 14:5

- But what went ye out for to see? A prophet? Yea, I say unto you, and much more than a prophet. Luke 7:26

- And all the people that heard him, and the publicans, justified God, being baptized with the baptism of John. Luke 7:29

33. And they answered and said unto Jesus, We cannot tell. And Jesus answering saith unto them, Neither do I tell you by what authority I do these things.

- He taketh the wise in their own craftiness: and the counsel of the froward is carried headlong. Job 5:13

- The ox knoweth his owner, and the ass his master's crib: but Israel doth not know, my people doth not consider. Isa. 1:3

- They have not known nor understood: for he hath shut their eyes, that they cannot see; and their hearts, that they cannot understand. Isa. 44:18
