1. And as he went out of the temple, one of his disciples saith unto him, Master, see what manner of stones and what buildings are here!

- Be thou instructed, O Jerusalem, lest my soul depart from thee; lest I make thee desolate, a land not inhabited. Jer. 6:8

- He said furthermore unto me, Son of man, seest thou what they do? even the great abominations that the house of Israel committeth here, that I should go far off from my sanctuary? but turn thee yet again, and thou shalt see greater abominations. Ezek. 8:6

- And when he was come into the temple, the chief priests and the elders of the people came unto him as he was teaching, and said, By what authority doest thou these things? and who gave thee this authority? Matt. 21:23

2. And Jesus answering said unto him, Seest thou these great buildings? there shall not be left one stone upon another, that shall not be thrown down.

- Then will I cut off Israel out of the land which I have given them; and this house, which I have hallowed for my name, will I cast out of my sight; and Israel shall be a proverb and a byword among all people: 1 Kings 9:7

- Micah the Morasthite prophesied in the days of Hezekiah king of Judah, and spake to all the people of Judah, saying, Thus saith the LORD of hosts; Zion shall be plowed like a field, and Jerusalem shall become heaps, and the mountain of the house as the high places of a forest. Jer. 26:18

- And after threescore and two weeks shall Messiah be cut off, but not for himself: and the people of the prince that shall come shall destroy the city and the sanctuary; and the end thereof shall be with a flood, and unto the end of the war desolations are determined. Dan. 9:26

3. And as he sat upon the mount of Olives over against the temple, Peter and James and John and Andrew asked him privately,

- And the disciples came, and said unto him, Why speakest thou unto them in parables? Matt. 13:10

- And after six days Jesus taketh with him Peter, and James, and John, and leadeth them up into an high mountain apart by themselves: and he was transfigured before them. Mark 9:2

- And he taketh with him Peter and James and John, and began to be sore amazed, and to be very heavy; Mark 14:33

4. Tell us, when shall these things be? and what shall be the sign when all these things shall be fulfilled?

- And one said to the man clothed in linen, which was upon the waters of the river, How long shall it be to the end of these wonders? Dan. 12:6

- And I heard, but I understood not: then said I, O my Lord, what shall be the end of these things? Dan. 12:8

- When they therefore were come together, they asked of him, saying, Lord, wilt thou at this time restore again the kingdom to Israel? Acts 1:6

5. And Jesus answering them began to say, Take heed lest any man deceive you:

- For thus saith the LORD of hosts, the God of Israel; Let not your prophets and your diviners, that be in the midst of you, deceive you, neither hearken to your dreams which ye cause to be dreamed. Jer. 29:8

- Let no man deceive you with vain words: for because of these things cometh the wrath of God upon the children of disobedience. Eph. 5:6

- Beware lest any man spoil you through philosophy and vain deceit, after the tradition of men, after the rudiments of the world, and not after Christ. Col. 2:8

6. For many shall come in my name, saying, I am Christ; and shall deceive many.

- Then the LORD said unto me, The prophets prophesy lies in my name: I sent them not, neither have I commanded them, neither spake unto them: they prophesy unto you a false vision and divination, and a thing of nought, and the deceit of their heart. Jer. 14:14

- I have not sent these prophets, yet they ran: I have not spoken to them, yet they prophesied. Jer. 23:21

- And many false prophets shall rise, and shall deceive many. Matt. 24:11

7. And when ye shall hear of wars and rumours of wars, be ye not troubled: for such things must needs be; but the end shall not be yet.

- Though an host should encamp against me, my heart shall not fear: though war should rise against me, in this will I be confident. Ps. 27:3

- God is our refuge and strength, a very present help in trouble. Ps. 46:1

- That ye be not soon shaken in mind, or be troubled, neither by spirit, nor by word, nor by letter as from us, as that the day of Christ is at hand. 2 Thess. 2:2

8. For nation shall rise against nation, and kingdom against kingdom: and there shall be earthquakes in divers places, and there shall be famines and troubles: these are the beginnings of sorrows.

- And nation was destroyed of nation, and city of city: for God did vex them with all adversity. 2 Chron. 15:6

- And I will set the Egyptians against the Egyptians: and they shall fight every one against his brother, and every one against his neighbour; city against city, and kingdom against kingdom. Isa. 19:2

- And there stood up one of them named Agabus, and signified by the Spirit that there should be great dearth throughout all the world: which came to pass in the days of Claudius Caesar. Acts 11:28

9. But take heed to yourselves: for they shall deliver you up to councils; and in the synagogues ye shall be beaten: and ye shall be brought before rulers and kings for my sake, for a testimony against them.

- But beware of men: for they will deliver you up to the councils, and they will scourge you in their synagogues; Matt. 10:17

- They shall put you out of the synagogues: yea, the time cometh, that whosoever killeth you will think that he doeth God service. John 16:2

- And on the morrow, when Agrippa was come, and Bernice, with great pomp, and was entered into the place of hearing, with the chief captains, and principal men of the city, at Festus' commandment Paul was brought forth. Acts 25:23

10. And the gospel must first be published among all nations.

- And he said unto them, Go ye into all the world, and preach the gospel to every creature. Mark 16:15

- But I say, Have they not heard? Yes verily, their sound went into all the earth, and their words unto the ends of the world. Rom. 10:18

- And I saw another angel fly in the midst of heaven, having the everlasting gospel to preach unto them that dwell on the earth, and to every nation, and kindred, and tongue, and people, Rev. 14:6

11. But when they shall lead you, and deliver you up, take no thought beforehand what ye shall speak, neither do ye premeditate: but whatsoever shall be given you in that hour, that speak ye: for it is not ye that speak, but the Holy Ghost.

- Now therefore go, and I will be with thy mouth, and teach thee what thou shalt say. Ex. 4:12

- And when they bring you unto the synagogues, and unto magistrates, and powers, take ye no thought how or what thing ye shall answer, or what ye shall say: Luke 12:11

- For I will give you a mouth and wisdom, which all your adversaries shall not be able to gainsay nor resist. Luke 21:15

12. Now the brother shall betray the brother to death, and the father the son; and children shall rise up against their parents, and shall cause them to be put to death.

- And David said to Abishai, and to all his servants, Behold, my son, which came forth of my bowels, seeketh my life: how much more now may this Benjamite do it? let him alone, and let him curse; for the LORD hath bidden him. 2 Sam. 16:11

- For the son dishonoureth the father, the daughter riseth up against her mother, the daughter in law against her mother in law; a man's enemies are the men of his own house. Mic. 7:6

- And it shall come to pass, that when any shall yet prophesy, then his father and his mother that begat him shall say unto him, Thou shalt not live; for thou speakest lies in the name of the LORD: and his father and his mother that begat him shall thrust him through when he prophesieth. Zech. 13:3

13. And ye shall be hated of all men for my name's sake: but he that shall endure unto the end, the same shall be saved.

- If the world hate you, ye know that it hated me before it hated you. John 15:18

- Being defamed, we intreat: we are made as the filth of the world, and are the offscouring of all things unto this day. 1 Cor. 4:13

- Fear none of those things which thou shalt suffer: behold, the devil shall cast some of you into prison, that ye may be tried; and ye shall have tribulation ten days: be thou faithful unto death, and I will give thee a crown of life. Rev. 2:10

14. But when ye shall see the abomination of desolation, spoken of by Daniel the prophet, standing where it ought not, (let him that readeth understand,) then let them that be in Judaea flee to the mountains:

- And he shall confirm the covenant with many for one week: and in the midst of the week he shall cause the sacrifice and the oblation to cease, and for the overspreading of abominations he shall make it desolate, even until the consummation, and that determined shall be poured upon the desolate. Dan. 9:27

- And arms shall stand on his part, and they shall pollute the sanctuary of strength, and shall take away the daily sacrifice, and they shall place the abomination that maketh desolate. Dan. 11:31

- And from the time that the daily sacrifice shall be taken away, and the abomination that maketh desolate set up, there shall be a thousand two hundred and ninety days. Dan. 12:11

15. And let him that is on the housetop not go down into the house, neither enter therein, to take any thing out of his house:

- And when the morning arose, then the angels hastened Lot, saying, Arise, take thy wife, and thy two daughters, which are here; lest thou be consumed in the iniquity of the city. Gen. 19:15

- Haste thee, escape thither; for I cannot do anything till thou be come thither. Therefore the name of the city was called Zoar. Gen. 19:22

- Riches profit not in the day of wrath: but righteousness delivereth from death. Prov. 11:4

16. And let him that is in the field not turn back again for to take up his garment.

- And it came to pass, as I lifted up my voice and cried, that he left his garment with me, and fled out. Gen. 39:18

- If thou at all take thy neighbor's raiment to pledge, thou shalt deliver it unto him by that the sun goeth down: Ex. 22:26

- These were thy merchants in all sorts of things, in blue clothes, and broidered work, and in chests of rich apparel, bound with cords, and made of cedar, among thy merchandise. Ezek. 27:24

17. But woe to them that are with child, and to them that give suck in those days!

- And thou shalt eat the fruit of thine own body, the flesh of thy sons and of thy daughters, which the LORD thy God hath given thee, in the siege, and in the straitness, wherewith thine enemies shall distress thee: Deut. 28:53

- Then Menahem smote Tiphsah, and all that were therein, and the coasts thereof from Tirzah: because they opened not to him, therefore he smote it; and all the women therein that were with child he ripped up. 2 Kings 15:16

- For, behold, the days are coming, in the which they shall say, Blessed are the barren, and the wombs that never bare, and the paps which never gave suck. Luke 23:29

18. And pray ye that your flight be not in the winter.

- But pray ye that your flight be not in the winter, neither on the sabbath day: Matt. 24:20

- And it was at Jerusalem the feast of the dedication, and it was winter. John 10:22

- When I shall send Artemas unto thee, or Tychicus, be diligent to come unto me to Nicopolis: for I have determined there to winter. Titus 3:12

19. For in those days shall be affliction, such as was not from the beginning of the creation which God created unto this time, neither shall be.

- For ask now of the days that are past, which were before thee, since the day that God created man upon the earth, and ask from the one side of heaven unto the other, whether there hath been any such thing as this great thing is, or hath been heard like it? Deut. 4:32

- And at that time shall Michael stand up, the great prince which standeth for the children of thy people: and there shall be a time of trouble, such as never was since there was a nation even to that same time: and at that time thy people shall be delivered, every one that shall be found written in the book. Dan. 12:1

- A day of darkness and of gloominess, a day of clouds and of thick darkness, as the morning spread upon the mountains: a great people and a strong; there hath not been ever the like, neither shall be any more after it, even to the years of many generations. Joel 2:2

20. And except that the Lord had shortened those days, no flesh should be saved: but for the elect's sake, whom he hath chosen, he hath shortened the days.

- Thus saith the LORD, As the new wine is found in the cluster, and one saith, Destroy it not; for a blessing is in it: so will I do for my servants' sakes, that I may not destroy them all. Isa. 65:8

- For there shall arise false Christs, and false prophets, and shall shew great signs and wonders; insomuch that, if it were possible, they shall deceive the very elect. Matt. 24:24

- And he shall send his angels with a great sound of a trumpet, and they shall gather together his elect from the four winds, from one end of heaven to the other. Matt. 24:31

21. And then if any man shall say to you, Lo, here is Christ; or, lo, he is there; believe him not:

- If there arise among you a prophet, or a dreamer of dreams, and giveth thee a sign or a wonder, Deut. 13:1

- For many shall come in my name, saying, I am Christ; and shall deceive many. Matt. 24:5

- And he said, Take heed that ye be not deceived: for many shall come in my name, saying, I am Christ; and the time draweth near: go ye not therefore after them. Luke 21:8

22. For false Christs and false prophets shall rise, and shall shew signs and wonders, to seduce, if it were possible, even the elect.

- For many shall come in my name, saying, I am Christ; and shall deceive many. Mark 13:6

- Even him, whose coming is after the working of Satan with all power and signs and lying wonders, 2 Thess. 2:9

- And he doeth great wonders, so that he maketh fire come down from heaven on the earth in the sight of men, Rev. 13:13

23. But take ye heed: behold, I have foretold you all things.

- Declaring the end from the beginning, and from ancient times the things that are not yet done, saying, My counsel shall stand, and I will do all my pleasure: Isa. 46:10

- And now I have told you before it come to pass, that, when it is come to pass, ye might believe. John 14:29

- Ye therefore, beloved, seeing ye know these things before, beware lest ye also, being led away with the error of the wicked, fall from your own stedfastness. 2 Pet. 3:17

24. But in those days, after that tribulation, the sun shall be darkened, and the moon shall not give her light,

- For the stars of heaven and the constellations thereof shall not give their light: the sun shall be darkened in his going forth, and the moon shall not cause her light to shine. Isa. 13:10

- And when I shall put thee out, I will cover the heaven, and make the stars thereof dark; I will cover the sun with a cloud, and the moon shall not give her light. Ezek. 32:7

- Shall not the day of the LORD be darkness, and not light? even very dark, and no brightness in it? Amos 5:20

25. And the stars of heaven shall fall, and the powers that are in heaven shall be shaken.

- And all the host of heaven shall be dissolved, and the heavens shall be rolled together as a scroll: and all their host shall fall down, as the leaf falleth off from the vine, and as a falling fig from the fig tree. Isa. 34:4

- The earth shall quake before them; the heavens shall tremble: the sun and the moon shall be dark, and the stars shall withdraw their shining: Joel 2:10

- And the stars of heaven fell unto the earth, even as a fig tree casteth her untimely figs, when she is shaken of a mighty wind. Rev. 6:13

26. And then shall they see the Son of man coming in the clouds with great power and glory.

- I saw in the night visions, and, behold, one like the Son of man came with the clouds of heaven, and came to the Ancient of days, and they brought him near before him. Dan. 7:13

- And then shall appear the sign of the Son of man in heaven: and then shall all the tribes of the earth mourn, and they shall see the Son of man coming in the clouds of heaven with power and great glory. Matt. 24:30

- Behold, he cometh with clouds; and every eye shall see him, and they also which pierced him: and all kindreds of the earth shall wail because of him. Even so, Amen. Rev. 1:7

27. And then shall he send his angels, and shall gather together his elect from the four winds, from the uttermost part of the earth to the uttermost part of heaven.

- If any of thine be driven out unto the outmost parts of heaven, from thence will the LORD thy God gather thee, and from thence will he fetch thee: Deut. 30:4

- Ho, ho, come forth, and flee from the land of the north, saith the LORD: for I have spread you abroad as the four winds of the heaven, saith the LORD. Zech. 2:6

- For the Lord himself shall descend from heaven with a shout, with the voice of the archangel, and with the trump of God: and the dead in Christ shall rise first: 1 Thess. 4:16

28. Now learn a parable of the fig tree; When her branch is yet tender, and putteth forth leaves, ye know that summer is near:

- And the eyes of them both were opened, and they knew that they were naked; and they sewed fig leaves together, and made themselves aprons. Gen. 3:7

- And the dove came in to him in the evening; and, lo, in her mouth was an olive leaf plucked off: so Noah knew that the waters were abated from off the earth. Gen. 8:11

- And seeing a fig tree afar off having leaves, he came, if haply he might find any thing thereon: and when he came to it, he found nothing but leaves; for the time of figs was not yet. Mark 11:13

29. So ye in like manner, when ye shall see these things come to pass, know that it is nigh, even at the doors.

- Also, thou son of man, thus saith the Lord GOD unto the land of Israel; An end, the end is come upon the four corners of the land. Ezek. 7:2

- For yet a little while, and he that shall come will come, and will not tarry. Heb. 10:37

- Grudge not one against another, brethren, lest ye be condemned: behold, the judge standeth before the door. James 5:9

30. Verily I say unto you, that this generation shall not pass, till all these things be done.

- Then goeth he, and taketh with himself seven other spirits more wicked than himself, and they enter in and dwell there: and the last state of that man is worse than the first. Even so shall it be also unto this wicked generation. Matt. 12:45

- Verily I say unto you, There be some standing here, which shall not taste of death, till they see the Son of man coming in his kingdom. Matt. 16:28

- Verily I say unto you, All these things shall come upon this generation. Matt. 23:36

31. Heaven and earth shall pass away: but my words shall not pass away.

- The grass withereth, the flower fadeth: but the word of our God shall stand for ever. Isa. 40:8

- For verily I say unto you, Till heaven and earth pass, one jot or one tittle shall in no wise pass from the law, till all be fulfilled. Matt. 5:18

- But the word of the Lord endureth for ever. And this is the word which by the gospel is preached unto you. 1 Pet. 1:25

32. But of that day and that hour knoweth no man, no, not the angels which are in heaven, neither the Son, but the Father.

- Watch therefore, for ye know neither the day nor the hour wherein the Son of man cometh. Matt. 25:13

- And he said unto them, It is not for you to know the times or the seasons, which the Father hath put in his own power. Acts 1:7

- Remember therefore how thou hast received and heard, and hold fast, and repent. If therefore thou shalt not watch, I will come on thee as a thief, and thou shalt not know what hour I will come upon thee. Rev. 3:3

33. Take ye heed, watch and pray: for ye know not when the time is.

- Therefore be ye also ready: for in such an hour as ye think not the Son of man cometh. Matt. 24:44

- Watch ye therefore, and pray always, that ye may be accounted worthy to escape all these things that shall come to pass, and to stand before the Son of man. Luke 21:36

- Praying always with all prayer and supplication in the Spirit, and watching thereunto with all perseverance and supplication for all saints; Eph. 6:18

34. For the Son of Man is as a man taking a far journey, who left his house, and gave authority to his servants, and to every man his work, and commanded the porter to watch.

- Son of man, I have made thee a watchman unto the house of Israel: therefore hear the word at my mouth, and give them warning from me. Ezek. 3:17

- Who then is a faithful and wise servant, whom his lord hath made ruler over his household, to give them meat in due season? Matt. 24:45

- For the kingdom of heaven is as a man travelling into a far country, who called his own servants, and delivered unto them his goods. Matt. 25:14

35. Watch ye therefore: for ye know not when the master of the house cometh, at even, or at midnight, or at the cockcrowing, or in the morning:

- Watch therefore: for ye know not what hour your Lord doth come. Matt. 24:42

- Therefore be ye also ready: for in such an hour as ye think not the Son of man cometh. Matt. 24:44

- And he saw them toiling in rowing; for the wind was contrary unto them: and about the fourth watch of the night he cometh unto them, walking upon the sea, and would have passed by them. Mark 6:48

36. Lest coming suddenly he find you sleeping.

- Yet a little sleep, a little slumber, a little folding of the hands to sleep: Prov. 24:33

- While the bridegroom tarried, they all slumbered and slept. Matt. 25:5

- And when he returned, he found them asleep again, (for their eyes were heavy,) neither wist they what to answer him. Mark 14:40

37. And what I say unto you I say unto all, Watch.

- It is a night to be much observed unto the LORD for bringing them out from the land of Egypt: this is that night of the LORD to be observed of all the children of Israel in their generations. Ex. 12:42

- Continue in prayer, and watch in the same with thanksgiving; Col. 4:2

- Behold, I come as a thief. Blessed is he that watcheth, and keepeth his garments, lest he walk naked, and they see his shame. Rev. 16:15
