And straightway in the morning the chief priests held a consultation with the elders and scribes and the whole council, and bound Jesus, and carried him away, and delivered him to Pilate. - Woe to them that devise iniquity, and work evil upon their beds! when the morning is light, they practise it, because it is in the power of their hand. Mic. 2:1 - And the whole multitude of them arose, and led him unto Pilate. Luke 23:1 - Then led they Jesus from Caiaphas unto the hall of judgment: and it was early; and they themselves went not into the judgment hall, lest they should be defiled; but that they might eat the passover. John 18:28 2. And Pilate asked him, Art thou the King of the Jews? And he answering said unto them, Thou sayest it. - Saying, Where is he that is born King of the Jews? for we have seen his star in the east, and are come to worship him. Matt. 2:2 - Jesus saith unto him, Thou hast said: nevertheless I say unto you, Hereafter shall ye see the Son of man sitting on the right hand of power, and coming in the clouds of heaven. Matt. 26:64 - I give thee charge in the sight of God, who quickeneth all things, and before Christ Jesus, who before Pontius Pilate witnessed a good confession; 1 Tim. 6:13 3. And the chief priests accused him of many things: but he answered nothing. - He was oppressed, and he was afflicted, yet he opened not his mouth: he is brought as a lamb to the slaughter, and as a sheep before her shearers is dumb, so he openeth not his mouth. Matt. 26:5 - But after two years Porcius Festus came into Felix' room: and Felix, willing to shew the Jews a pleasure, left Paul bound. Acts 24:27 - But Festus, willing to do the Jews a pleasure, answered Paul, and said, Wilt thou go up to Jerusalem, and there be judged of these things before me? Acts 25:9 7. And there was one named Barabbas, which lay bound with them that had made insurrection with him, who had committed murder in the insurrection. - And they had then a notable prisoner, called Barabbas. They all say unto him, Let him be crucified. Matt. 27:22 - But they cried out, Away with him, away with him, crucify him. Pilate saith unto them, Shall I crucify your King? The chief priests answered, We have no king but Caesar. John 19:15 13. And they cried out again, Crucify him. - For as long as the son of Jesse liveth upon the ground, thou shalt not be established, nor thy kingdom. Wherefore now send and fetch him unto me, for he shall surely die. 1 Sam. 20:31 - Therefore will I divide him a portion with the great, and he shall divide the spoil with the strong; because he hath poured out his soul unto death: and he was numbered with the transgressors; and he bare the sin of many, and made intercession for the transgressors. Isa. 53:12 - And they gave him audience unto this word, and then lifted up their voices, and said, Away with such a fellow from the earth: for it is not fit that he should live. Acts 22:22 14. Then Pilate said unto them, Why, what evil hath he done? And they cried out the more exceedingly, Crucify him. - They that hate me without a cause are more than the hairs of mine head: they that would destroy me, being mine enemies wrongfully, are mighty: then I restored that which I took not away. Isa. 53:3 - And we indeed justly; for we receive the due reward of our deeds: but this man hath done nothing amiss. Luke 23:41 15. And so Pilate, willing to content the people, released Barabbas unto them, and delivered Jesus, when he had scourged him, to be crucified. - And shall deliver him to the Gentiles to mock, and to scourge, and to crucify him: and the third day he shall rise again. Matt. 20:19 - I will therefore chastise him, and release him. Luke 23:16 - Then Pilate therefore took Jesus, and scourged him. John 19:1 16. Isa. 50:6 - Now gather thyself in troops, O daughter of troops: he hath laid siege against us: they shall smite the judge of Israel with a rod upon the cheek. And when they had crucified him, they parted his garments, casting lots upon them, what every man should take. - And he that is the high priest among his brethren, upon whose head the anointing oil was poured, and that is consecrated to put on the garments, shall not uncover his head, nor rend his clothes; Lev. 21:10 - They part my garments among them, and cast lots upon my vesture. Ps. 22:18 - They said therefore among themselves, Let us not rend it, but cast lots for it, whose it shall be: that the scripture might be fulfilled, which saith, They parted my raiment among them, and for my vesture they did cast lots. And it was the third hour, and they crucified him. - And when the sixth hour was come, there was darkness over the whole land until the ninth hour. Mark 15:33 - And it was the preparation of the passover, and about the sixth hour: and he saith unto the Jews, Behold your King! John 19:14 - For these are not drunken, as ye suppose, seeing it is but the third hour of the day. Acts 2:15 26. And the superscription of his accusation was written over, THE KING OF THE JEWS. - And Pilate wrote a title, and put it on the cross. And the writing was JESUS OF NAZARETH THE KING OF THE JEWS. John 19:19 - This title then read many of the Jews: for the place where Jesus was crucified was nigh to the city: and it was written in Hebrew, and Greek, and Latin. John 19:20 - Then said the chief priests of the Jews to Pilate, Write not, The King of the Jews; but that he said, I am King of the Jews. John 19:21 27. And with him they crucify two thieves; the one on his right hand, and the other on his left. - Therefore will I divide him a portion with the great, and he shall divide the spoil with the strong; because he hath poured out his soul unto death: and he was numbered with the transgressors; and he bare the sin of many, and made intercession for the transgressors. Isa. 53:12 - In that same hour said Jesus to the multitudes, Are ye come out as against a thief with swords and staves for to take me? I sat daily with you teaching in the temple, and ye laid no hold on me. Matt. 26:55 - For I say unto you, that this that is written must yet be accomplished in me, And he was reckoned among the transgressors: for the things concerning me have an end. Luke 22:37 28. And the scripture was fulfilled, which saith, And he was numbered with the transgressors. - And he said unto them, These are the words which I spake unto you, while I was yet with you, that all things must be fulfilled, which were written in the law of Moses, and in the prophets, and in the psalms, concerning me. Luke 24:44 - When Jesus therefore had received the vinegar, he said, It is finished: and he bowed his head, and gave up the ghost. John 19:30 - Looking unto Jesus the author and finisher of our faith; who for the joy that was set before him endured the cross, despising the shame, and is set down at the right hand of the throne of God. Heb. 12:2 29. And they that passed by railed on him, wagging their heads, and saying, Ah, thou that destroyest the temple, and buildest it in three days, - I became also a reproach unto them: when they looked upon me they shaked their heads. Ps. 109:25 - Is it nothing to you, all ye that pass by? behold, and see if there be any sorrow like unto my sorrow, which is done unto me, wherewith the LORD hath afflicted me in the day of his fierce anger. Lam. 1:12 - We heard him say, I will destroy this temple that is made with hands, and within three days I will build another made without hands. Mark 14:58 30. Save thyself, and come down from the cross. - And saith unto him, If thou be the Son of God, cast thyself down: for it is written, He shall give his angels charge concerning thee: and in their hands they shall bear thee up, lest at any time thou dash thy foot against a stone. Matt. 4:6 - And saying, Thou that destroyest the temple, and buildest it in three days, save thyself. If thou be the Son of God, come down from the cross. Matt. 27:40 - And he said unto them, Ye will surely say unto me this proverb, Physician, heal thyself: whatsoever we have heard done in Capernaum, do also here in thy country. Luke 4:23 31. Likewise also the chief priests mocking said among themselves with the scribes, He saved others; himself he cannot save. - For dogs have compassed me: the assembly of the wicked have inclosed me: they pierced my hands and my feet. Ps. 22:16 - Then did they spit in his face, and buffeted him; and others smote him with the palms of their hands, Matt. 26:67 - Then Jesus said unto the chief priests, and captains of the temple, and the elders, which were come to him, Be ye come out, as against a thief, with swords and staves? Luke 22:52 32. Let Christ the King of Israel descend now from the cross, that we may see and believe. And they that were crucified with him reviled him. - The thieves also, which were crucified with him, cast the same in his teeth. Joseph of Arimathaea, an honourable counsellor, which also waited for the kingdom of God, came, and went in boldly unto Pilate, and craved the body of Jesus. - When the even was come, there came a rich man of Arimathaea, named Joseph, who also himself was Jesus' disciple: Matt. 27:57 - And, behold, there was a man named Joseph, a counsellor; and he was a good man, and a just: Luke 23:50 - And after this Joseph of Arimathaea, being a disciple of Jesus, but secretly for fear of the Jews, besought Pilate that he might take away the body of Jesus: and Pilate gave him leave. He came therefore, and took the body of Jesus. John 19:38 44. And Pilate marvelled if he were already dead: and calling unto him the centurion, he asked him whether he had been any while dead. - And when the centurion, which stood over against him, saw that he so cried out, and gave up the ghost, he said, Truly this man was the Son of God. Mark 15:39 - If this man were not of God, he could do nothing. He came therefore, and took the body of Jesus. John 19:38 46. And he bought fine linen, and took him down, and wrapped him in the linen, and laid him in a sepulchre which was hewn out of a rock, and rolled a stone unto the door of the sepulchre. - And he made his grave with the wicked, and with the rich in his death; because he had done no violence, neither was any deceit in his mouth. Isa. 53:9 - And laid it in his own new tomb, which he had hewn out in the rock: and he rolled a great stone to the door of the sepulchre, and departed. Matt. 27:60 - And, behold, there was a great earthquake: for the angel of the Lord descended from heaven, and came and rolled back the stone from the door, and sat upon it. Matt. 28:2 47. And Mary Magdalene and Mary the mother of Joses beheld where he was laid. - And there was Mary Magdalene, and the other Mary, sitting over against the sepulchre.
