Matt. 13:1 - And he went forth again by the sea side; and all the multitude resorted unto him, and he taught them. Mark 2:13 - And it came to pass, that, as the people pressed upon him to hear the word of God, he stood by the lake of Gennesaret, Luke 5:1 2. And he taught them many things by parables, and said unto them in his doctrine, - All these things spake Jesus unto the multitude in parables; and without a parable spake he not unto them: Matt. 13:34 - And he called them unto him, and said unto them in parables, How can Satan cast out Satan? Mark 3:23 - And he said unto them, Unto you it is given to know the mystery of the kingdom of God: but unto them that are without, all these things are done in parables: Mark 4:11 3. Hearken; Behold, there went out a sower to sow: - Now therefore hearken, O Israel, unto the statutes and unto the judgments, which I teach you, for to do them, that ye may live, and go in and possess the land which the LORD God of your fathers giveth you. Deut. 4:1 - Come, ye children, hearken unto me: I will teach you the fear of the LORD. Ps. 34:11 - He that hath an ear, let him hear what the Spirit saith unto the churches. Rev. 2:29 4. And it came to pass, as he sowed, some fell by the way side, and the fowls of the air came and devoured it up. - And when the fowls came down upon the carcasses, Abram drove them away. Gen. 3:1 - Those by the way side are they that hear; then cometh the devil, and taketh away the word out of their hearts, lest they should believe and be saved. Luke 8:12 - Be sober, be vigilant; because your adversary the devil, as a roaring lion, walketh about, seeking whom he may devour: 1 Pet. 5:8 16. And these are they likewise which are sown on stony ground; who, when they have heard the word, immediately receive it with gladness; - And they come unto thee as the people cometh, and they sit before thee as my people, and they hear thy words, but they will not do them: for with their mouth they shew much love, but their heart goeth after their covetousness. Ezek. 33:31 - Again, the kingdom of heaven is like unto treasure hid in a field; the which when a man hath found, he hideth, and for joy thereof goeth and selleth all that he hath, and buyeth that field. Matt. 13:44 - He was a burning and a shining light: and ye were willing for a season to rejoice in his light. John 5:35 17. And have no root in themselves, and so endure but for a time: afterward, when affliction or persecution ariseth for the word's sake, immediately they are offended. - And blessed is he, whosoever shall not be offended in me. Matt. 11:6 - Rooted and built up in him, and stablished in the faith, as ye have been taught, abounding therein with thanksgiving. Col. 2:7 - Fear none of those things which thou shalt suffer: behold, the devil shall cast some of you into prison, that ye may be tried; and ye shall have tribulation ten days: be thou faithful unto death, and I will give thee a crown of life. Jer. 4:3 - (For not the hearers of the law are just before God, but the doers of the law shall be justified. Rom. 2:13 - But be ye doers of the word, and not hearers only, deceiving your own selves. James 1:22 19. And the cares of this world, and the deceitfulness of riches, and the lusts of other things entering in, choke the word, and it becometh unfruitful. - And he said, This will I do: I will pull down my barns, and build greater; and there will I bestow all my fruits and my goods. Luke 12:18 - But they that will be rich fall into temptation and a snare, and into many foolish and hurtful lusts, which drown men in destruction and perdition. 1 Tim. 6:9 - For Demas hath forsaken me, having loved this present world, and is departed unto Thessalonica; Crescens to Galatia, Titus unto Dalmatia. 2 Tim. 4:10 20. And these are they which are sown on good ground; such as hear the word, and receive it, and bring forth fruit, some thirtyfold, some sixty, and some an hundred. - But that on the good ground are they, which in an honest and good heart, having heard the word, keep it, and bring forth fruit with patience. Luke 8:15 - Abide in me, and I in you. As the branch cannot bear fruit of itself, except it abide in the vine; no more can ye, except ye abide in me. John 15:4 - Wherefore, my brethren, ye also are become dead to the law by the body of Christ; that ye should be married to another, even to him who is raised from the dead, that we should bring forth fruit unto God. Rom. 7:4 21. And he said unto them, Is a candle brought to be put under a bushel, or under a bed? and not to be set on a candlestick? - Speak unto Aaron and say unto him, When thou lightest the lamps, the seven lamps shall give light over against the candlestick. Num. 8:2 - Neither do men light a candle, and put it under a bushel, but on a candlestick; and it giveth light unto all that are in the house. Matt. 5:15 - No man, when he hath lighted a candle, covereth it with a vessel, or putteth it under a bed; but setteth it on a candlestick, that they which enter in may see the light. Luke 8:16 22. For there is nothing hid, which shall not be manifested; neither was any thing kept secret, but that it should come abroad. - He discovereth deep things out of darkness, and bringeth out to light the shadow of death. Job 12:22 - For God shall bring every work into judgment, with every secret thing, whether it be good, or whether it be evil. Eccles. 12:14 - Therefore judge nothing before the time, until the Lord come, who both will bring to light the hidden things of darkness, and will make manifest the counsels of the hearts: and then shall every man have praise of God. 1 Cor. 4:5 23. If any man have ears to hear, let him hear. - He that hath ears to hear, let him hear. Matt. 11:15 - And he said unto them, He that hath ears to hear, let him hear. And he said unto them, Take heed what ye hear: with what measure ye mete, it shall be measured to you: and unto you that hear shall more be given. - Cease, my son, to hear the instruction that causeth to err from the words of knowledge. Prov. 19:27 - Incline your ear, and come unto me: hear, and your soul shall live; and I will make an everlasting covenant with you, even the sure mercies of David. Isa. 55:3 - For with what judgment ye judge, ye shall be judged: and with what measure ye mete, it shall be measured to you again. Matt. 7:2 25. For he that hath, to him shall be given: and he that hath not, from him shall be taken even that which he hath. - For whosoever hath, to him shall be given, and he shall have more abundance: but whosoever hath not, from him shall be taken away even that he hath. Matt. 13:12 - Take therefore the talent from him, and give it unto him which hath ten talents. Matt. 25:28 - Take heed therefore how ye hear: for whosoever hath, to him shall be given; and whosoever hath not, from him shall be taken even that which he seemeth to have. Luke 8:18 26. And he said, So is the kingdom of God, as if a man should cast seed into the ground; - The wicked worketh a deceitful work: but to him that soweth righteousness shall be a sure reward. Prov. 11:18 - He that observeth the wind shall not sow; and he that regardeth the clouds shall not reap. Eccles. 11:4 - Another parable put he forth unto them, saying, The kingdom of heaven is likened unto a man which sowed good seed in his field: Matt. 13:24 27. And should sleep, and rise night and day, and the seed should spring and grow up, he knoweth not how. - It is vain for you to rise up early, to sit up late, to eat the bread of sorrows: for so he giveth his beloved sleep. Ps. 127:2 - As thou knowest not what is the way of the spirit, nor how the bones do grow in the womb of her that is with child: even so thou knowest not the works of God who maketh all. Eccles. 11:5 - The wind bloweth where it listeth, and thou hearest the sound thereof, but canst not tell whence it cometh, and whither it goeth: so is every one that is born of the Spirit. John 3:8 28. For the earth bringeth forth fruit of herself; first the blade, then the ear, after that the full corn in the ear. - And God said, Let the earth bring forth grass, the herb yielding seed, and the fruit tree yielding fruit after his kind, whose seed is in itself, upon the earth: and it was so. Gen. 1:11 - So shall my word be that goeth forth out of my mouth: it shall not return unto me void, but it shall accomplish that which I please, and it shall prosper in the thing whereto I sent it. Isa. 55:11 - For as the earth bringeth forth her bud, and as the garden causeth the things that are sown in it to spring forth; so the Lord GOD will cause righteousness and praise to spring forth before all the nations. Isa. 61:11 29. But when the fruit is brought forth, immediately he putteth in the sickle, because the harvest is come. - Thou shalt come to thy grave in a full age, like as a shock of corn cometh in in his season. Job 5:26 - Put ye in the sickle, for the harvest is ripe: come, get you down; for the press is full, the fats overflow; for their wickedness is great. Joel 3:13 - And another angel came out of the temple, crying with a loud voice to him that sat on the cloud, Thrust in thy sickle, and reap: for the time is come for thee to reap; for the harvest of the earth is ripe. Rev. 14:15 30. And he said, Whereunto shall we liken the kingdom of God? or with what comparison shall we compare it? - What thing shall I take to witness for thee? what thing shall I liken to thee, O daughter of Jerusalem? what shall I equal to thee, that I may comfort thee, O virgin daughter of Zion? for thy breach is great like the sea: who can heal thee? Lam. 2:13 - But whereunto shall I liken this generation? It is like unto children sitting in the markets, and calling unto their fellows, Matt. 11:16 - Then said he, Unto what is the kingdom of God like? and whereunto shall I resemble it? Luke 13:18 31. It is like a grain of mustard seed, which, when it is sown in the earth, is less than all the seeds that be in the earth: - And Jesus said unto them, Because of your unbelief: for verily I say unto you, If ye have faith as a grain of mustard seed, ye shall say unto this mountain, Remove hence to yonder place; and it shall remove; and nothing shall be impossible unto you. Matt. 17:20 - And said unto them, Whosoever shall receive this child in my name receiveth me: and whosoever shall receive me receiveth him that sent me: for he that is least among you all, the same shall be great. Luke 9:48 - And the Lord said, If ye had faith as a grain of mustard seed, ye might say unto this sycamine tree, Be thou plucked up by the root, and be thou planted in the sea; and it should obey you. Luke 17:6 32. But when it is sown, it groweth up, and becometh greater than all herbs, and shooteth out great branches; so that the fowls of the air may lodge under the shadow of it. - In the mountain of the height of Israel will I plant it: and it shall bring forth boughs, and bear fruit, and be a goodly cedar: and under it shall dwell all fowl of every wing; in the shadow of the branches thereof shall they dwell. Ps. 107:25 - But the LORD sent out a great wind into the sea, and there was a mighty tempest in the sea, so that the ship was like to be broken. Jonah 1:4 - But not long after there arose against it a tempestuous wind, called Euroclydon. Acts 27:14 38. And he was in the hinder part of the ship, asleep on a pillow: and they awake him, and say unto him, Master, carest thou not that we perish? - And it came to pass at noon, that Elijah mocked them, and said, Cry aloud: for he is a god; either he is talking, or he is pursuing, or he is in a journey, or peradventure he sleepeth, and must be awaked. 1 Kings 18:27 - Now Jacob's well was there. Jesus therefore, being wearied with his journey, sat thus on the well: and it was about the sixth hour. John 4:6 - Casting all your care upon him; for he careth for you. 1 Pet. 5:7 39. And he arose, and rebuked the wind, and said unto the sea, Peace, be still. And the wind ceased, and there was a great calm. - He maketh the storm a calm, so that the waves thereof are still. Ps. 107:29 - Thou rulest the raging of the sea: when the waves thereof arise, thou stillest them. Ps. 89:9 - And he saith unto them, Why are ye fearful, O ye of little faith? Then he arose, and rebuked the winds and the sea; and there was a great calm. Matt. 8:26 40. And he said unto them, Why are ye so fearful? how is it that ye have no faith? - And immediately Jesus stretched forth his hand, and caught him, and said unto him, O thou of little faith, wherefore didst thou doubt? Matt. 14:31 - Peace I leave with you, my peace I give unto you: not as the world giveth, give I unto you. Let not your heart be troubled, neither let it be afraid. John 14:27 - For God hath not given us the spirit of fear; but of power, and of love, and of a sound mind. 2 Tim. 1:7 41. And they feared exceedingly, and said one to another, What manner of man is this, that even the wind and the sea obey him? - So Samuel called unto the LORD; and the LORD sent thunder and rain that day: and all the people greatly feared the LORD and Samuel. 1 Sam. 12:18 - Only fear the LORD, and serve him in truth with all your heart: for consider how great things he hath done for you. 1 Sam. 12:24 - For who in the heaven can be compared unto the LORD? who among the sons of the mighty can be likened unto the LORD?
