Then came together unto him the Pharisees, and certain of the scribes, which came from Jerusalem. - Then came to Jesus scribes and Pharisees, which were of Jerusalem, saying, Matt. 15:1 - And the scribes which came down from Jerusalem said, He hath Beelzebub, and by the prince of the devils casteth he out devils. Mark 3:22 - And it came to pass on a certain day, as he was teaching, that there were Pharisees and doctors of the law sitting by, which were come out of every town of Galilee, and Judaea, and Jerusalem: and the power of the Lord was present to heal them. Luke 5:17 2. And when they saw some of his disciples eat bread with defiled, that is to say, with unwashen, hands, they found fault. - And when the Pharisee saw it, he marvelled that he had not first washed before dinner. Luke 11:38 - And he said unto them, Ye know how that it is an unlawful thing for a man that is a Jew to keep company, or come unto one of another nation; but God hath shewed me that I should not call any man common or unclean. Acts 10:28 - I know, and am persuaded by the Lord Jesus, that there is nothing unclean of itself: but to him that esteemeth any thing to be unclean, to him it is unclean. Rom. 14:14 3. Howbeit in vain do they worship me, teaching for doctrines the commandments of men. - What thing soever I command you, observe to do it: thou shalt not add thereto, nor diminish from it. For Moses said, Honour thy father and thy mother; and, Whoso curseth father or mother, let him die the death: - Honor thy father and thy mother: that thy days may be long upon the land which the LORD thy God giveth thee. Ex. 20:12 - And he that curseth his father, or his mother, shall surely be put to death. Ex. 21:17 - Whoso curseth his father or his mother, his lamp shall be put out in obscure darkness. Prov. 20:20 11. But ye say, If a man shall say to his father or mother, It is Corban, that is to say, a gift, by whatsoever thou mightest be profited by me; he shall be free. - Whoso robbeth his father or his mother, and saith, It is no transgression; the same is the companion of a destroyer. Prov. 28:24 - And, Whosoever shall swear by the altar, it is nothing; but whosoever sweareth by the gift that is upon it, he is guilty. Matt. 23:18 - But if any widow have children or nephews, let them learn first to shew piety at home, and to requite their parents: for that is good and acceptable before God. 1 Tim. 5:4 12. Because it entereth not into his heart, but into the belly, and goeth out into the draught, purging all meats? - And the voice spake unto him again the second time, What God hath cleansed, that call not thou common. Acts 10:15 - Meats for the belly, and the belly for meats: but God shall destroy both it and them. Now the body is not for fornication, but for the Lord; and the Lord for the body. 1 Cor. 6:13 - For every creature of God is good, and nothing to be refused, if it be received with thanksgiving: 1 Tim. 4:4 20. And he said, That which cometh out of the man, that defileth the man. - And if he come to see me, he speaketh vanity: his heart gathereth iniquity to itself; when he goeth abroad, he telleth it. Ps. 41:6 - Woe to them that devise iniquity, and work evil upon their beds! when the morning is light, they practise it, because it is in the power of their hand. Mic. 2:1 - And the tongue is a fire, a world of iniquity: so is the tongue among our members, that it defileth the whole body, and setteth on fire the course of nature; and it is set on fire of hell. James 3:6 21. For from within, out of the heart of men, proceed evil thoughts, adulteries, fornications, murders, - And God saw that the wickedness of man was great in the earth, and that every imagination of the thoughts of his heart was only evil continually. Gen. 6:5 - And the LORD smelled a sweet savor; and the LORD said in his heart, I will not again curse the ground any more for man's sake; for the imagination of man's heart is evil from his youth; neither will I again smite any more every thing living, as I have done. Gen. 8:21 - The heart is deceitful above all things, and desperately wicked: who can know it? Jer. 17:9 22. Thefts, covetousness, wickedness, deceit, lasciviousness, an evil eye, blasphemy, pride, foolishness: - Being filled with all unrighteousness, fornication, wickedness, covetousness, maliciousness; full of envy, murder, debate, deceit, malignity; whisperers, Rom. 1:29 - Now the works of the flesh are manifest, which are these; Adultery, fornication, uncleanness, lasciviousness, Gal. 5:19 - For men shall be lovers of their own selves, covetous, boasters, proud, blasphemers, disobedient to parents, unthankful, unholy, 2 Tim. 3:2 23. All these evil things come from within, and defile the man. - There is nothing from without a man, that entering into him can defile him: but the things which come out of him, those are they that defile the man. Mark 7:15 - Wherefore God also gave them up to uncleanness through the lusts of their own hearts, to dishonour their own bodies between themselves: Rom. 1:24 - Unto the pure all things are pure: but unto them that are defiled and unbelieving is nothing pure; but even their mind and conscience is defiled. Titus 1:15 24. And from thence he arose, and went into the borders of Tyre and Sidon, and entered into an house, and would have no man know it: but he could not be hid. - Woe unto thee, Chorazin! woe unto thee, Bethsaida! for if the mighty works, which were done in you, had been done in Tyre and Sidon, they would have repented long ago in sackcloth and ashes. Matt. 11:21 - Then Jesus went thence, and departed into the coasts of Tyre and Sidon. Matt. 15:21 - But Jesus withdrew himself with his disciples to the sea: and a great multitude from Galilee followed him, and from Judaea, Mark 3:7 25. For a certain woman, whose young daughter had an unclean spirit, heard of him, and came and fell at his feet: - And there came a leper to him, beseeching him, and kneeling down to him, and saying unto him, If thou wilt, thou canst make me clean. Mark 1:40 - And, behold, there cometh one of the rulers of the synagogue, Jairus by name; and when he saw him, he fell at his feet, Mark 5:22 - But the woman fearing and trembling, knowing what was done in her, came and fell down before him, and told him all the truth. Mark 5:33 26. The woman was a Greek, a Syrophenician by nation; and she besought him that he would cast forth the devil out of her daughter. - Behold, these shall come from far: and, lo, these from the north and from the west; and these from the land of Sinim. Isa. 49:12 - And one of the multitude answered and said, Master, I have brought unto thee my son, which hath a dumb spirit; Mark 9:17 - Where there is neither Greek nor Jew, circumcision nor uncircumcision, Barbarian, Scythian, bond nor free: but Christ is all, and in all. Col. 3:11 27. But Jesus said unto her, Let the children first be filled: for it is not meet to take the children's bread, and to cast it unto the dogs. - Give not that which is holy unto the dogs, neither cast ye your pearls before swine, lest they trample them under their feet, and turn again and rend you. Matt. 7:6 - These twelve Jesus sent forth, and commanded them, saying, Go not into the way of the Gentiles, and into any city of the Samaritans enter ye not: Matt. 10:5 - But he answered and said, I am not sent but unto the lost sheep of the house of Israel. Matt. 15:24 28. And she answered and said unto him, Yes, Lord: yet the dogs under the table eat of the children's crumbs. - Thou openest thine hand, and satisfiest the desire of every living thing. Ps. 145:16 - And he said, It is a light thing that thou shouldest be my servant to raise up the tribes of Jacob, and to restore the preserved of Israel: I will also give thee for a light to the Gentiles, that thou mayest be my salvation unto the end of the earth. Isa. 49:6 - For there is no difference between the Jew and the Greek: for the same Lord over all is rich unto all that call upon him. Rom. 10:12 29. And he said unto her, For this saying go thy way; the devil is gone out of thy daughter. - And Jesus said unto the centurion, Go thy way; and as thou hast believed, so be it done unto thee. And his servant was healed in the selfsame hour. Matt. 8:13 - But Jesus turned him about, and when he saw her, he said, Daughter, be of good comfort; thy faith hath made thee whole. And the woman was made whole from that hour. Matt. 9:22 - Then touched he their eyes, saying, According to your faith be it unto you. Matt. 9:29 30. And when she was come to her house, she found the devil gone out, and her daughter laid upon the bed. - Jesus saith unto him, Go thy way; thy son liveth. And the man believed the word that Jesus had spoken unto him, and he went his way. John 4:50 - And as he was now going down, his servants met him, and told him, saying, Thy son liveth. John 4:51 - He that committeth sin is of the devil; for the devil sinneth from the beginning. For this purpose the Son of God was manifested, that he might destroy the works of the devil. 1 John 3:8 31. Mark 5:20 - And from thence he arose, and went into the borders of Tyre and Sidon, and entered into an house, and would have no man know it: but he could not be hid. Mark 7:24 32. And they bring unto him one that was deaf, and had an impediment in his speech; and they beseech him to put his hand upon him. - Then shall the lame man leap as an hart, and the tongue of the dumb sing: for in the wilderness shall waters break out, and streams in the desert. Isa. 35:6 - As they went out, behold, they brought to him a dumb man possessed with a devil. Matt. 9:32 - And besought him greatly, saying, My little daughter lieth at the point of death: I pray thee, come and lay thy hands on her, that she may be healed; and she shall live. Mark 5:23 33. And he took him aside from the multitude, and put his fingers into his ears, and he spit, and touched his tongue; - And he said unto her, Give me thy son. And straightway his ears were opened, and the string of his tongue was loosed, and he spake plain. - The heart also of the rash shall understand knowledge, and the tongue of the stammerers shall be ready to speak plainly. Isa. 32:4 - Then the eyes of the blind shall be opened, and the ears of the deaf shall be unstopped. Isa. 35:5 - The blind receive their sight, and the lame walk, the lepers are cleansed, and the deaf hear, the dead are raised up, and the poor have the gospel preached to them. Matt. 11:5 36. And he charged them that they should tell no man: but the more he charged them, so much the more a great deal they published it; - And Jesus saith unto him, See thou tell no man; but go thy way, shew thyself to the priest, and offer the gift that Moses commanded, for a testimony unto them. Matt. 8:4 - But he went out, and began to publish it much, and to blaze abroad the matter, insomuch that Jesus could no more openly enter into the city, but was without in desert places: and they came to him from every quarter. Mark 1:45 - And he straitly charged them that they should not make him known. Mark 3:12 37. And were beyond measure astonished, saying, He hath done all things well: he maketh both the deaf to hear, and the dumb to speak. - And God saw every thing that he had made, and, behold, it was very good. And the evening and the morning were the sixth day. Gen. 1:31 - And straightway the damsel arose, and walked; for she was of the age of twelve years. And they were astonished with a great astonishment.
