1. In those days the multitude being very great, and having nothing to eat, Jesus called his disciples unto him, and saith unto them,

- But Jesus called them to him, and saith unto them, Ye know that they which are accounted to rule over the Gentiles exercise lordship over them; and their great ones exercise authority upon them. Mark 10:42

- But Jesus called them unto him, and said, Suffer little children to come unto me, and forbid them not: for of such is the kingdom of God. Luke 18:16

- Then Jesus saith unto them, Children, have ye any meat? They answered him, No. John 21:5

2. I have compassion on the multitude, because they have now been with me three days, and have nothing to eat:

- The eyes of all wait upon thee; and thou givest them their meat in due season. Ps. 145:15

- But when he saw the multitudes, he was moved with compassion on them, because they fainted, and were scattered abroad, as sheep having no shepherd. Matt. 9:36

- And Jesus, when he came out, saw much people, and was moved with compassion toward them, because they were as sheep not having a shepherd: and he began to teach them many things. Mark 6:34

3. And if I send them away fasting to their own houses, they will faint by the way: for divers of them came from far.

- And Gideon came to Jordan, and passed over, he, and the three hundred men that were with him, faint, yet pursuing them. Judg. 8:4

- Then answered one of the people, and said, Thy father straitly charged the people with an oath, saying, Cursed be the man that eateth any food this day. And the people were faint. 1 Sam. 14:28

- But David pursued, he and four hundred men: for two hundred abode behind, which were so faint that they could not go over the brook Besor. 1 Sam. 30:10

4. And his disciples answered him, From whence can a man satisfy these men with bread here in the wilderness?

- And Moses said, The people, among whom I am, are six hundred thousand footmen; and thou hast said, I will give them flesh, that they may eat a whole month. Num. 11:21

- Then a lord on whose hand the king leaned answered the man of God, and said, Behold, if the LORD would make windows in heaven, might this thing be? And he said, Behold, thou shalt see it with thine eyes, but shalt not eat thereof. 2 Kings 7:2

- Yea, they spake against God; they said, Can God furnish a table in the wilderness? Ps. 78:19

5. And he asked them, How many loaves have ye? And they said, Seven.

- And there came a man from Baalshalisha, and brought the man of God bread of the firstfruits, twenty loaves of barley, and full ears of corn in the husk thereof. And he said, Give unto the people, that they may eat. 2 Kings 4:42

- And Jesus saith unto them, How many loaves have ye? And they said, Seven, and a few little fishes. Matt. 15:34

- He saith unto them, How many loaves have ye? go and see. And when they knew, they say, Five, and two fishes. Mark 6:38

6. And he commanded the people to sit down on the ground: and he took the seven loaves, and gave thanks, and brake, and gave to his disciples to set before them; and they did set them before the people.

- And as they were eating, Jesus took bread, and blessed it, and brake it, and gave it to the disciples, and said, Take, eat; this is my body. Matt. 26:26

- And when he had taken the five loaves and the two fishes, he looked up to heaven, and blessed, and brake the loaves, and gave them to his disciples to set before them; and the two fishes divided he among them all. Mark 6:41

7. And they had a few small fishes: and he blessed, and commanded to set them also before them.

- And he commanded the multitude to sit down on the grass, and took the five loaves, and the two fishes, and looking up to heaven, he blessed, and brake, and gave the loaves to his disciples, and the disciples to the multitude. Matt. 14:19

- And they gave him a piece of a broiled fish, and of an honeycomb. Luke 24:42

8. So they did eat, and were filled: and they took up of the broken meat that was left seven baskets.

- So he set it before them, and they did eat, and left thereof, according to the word of the LORD. 2 Kings 4:44

- And they took up twelve baskets full of the fragments, and of the fishes. Mark 6:43

- Then the disciples took him by night, and let him down by the wall in a basket. Acts 9:25

9. And they that had eaten were about four thousand: and he sent them away.

- And the children of Israel journeyed from Rameses to Succoth, about six hundred thousand on foot that were men, beside children. Ex. 12:37

- And they that did eat were four thousand men, beside women and children. Matt. 15:38

10. And straightway he entered into a ship with his disciples, and came into the parts of Dalmanutha.

- And he sent away the multitude, and took ship, and came into the coasts of Magdala. Matt. 15:39

- And he spake to his disciples, that a small ship should wait on him because of the multitude, lest they should throng him. Mark 3:9

- And when they had sent away the multitude, they took him even as he was in the ship. And there were also with him other little ships. Mark 4:36

11. And the Pharisees came forth, and began to question with him, seeking of him a sign from heaven, tempting him.

- Then certain of the scribes and of the Pharisees answered, saying, Master, we would see a sign from thee. Matt. 12:38

- And others, tempting him, sought of him a sign from heaven. Luke 11:16

- They said therefore unto him, What sign shewest thou then, that we may see, and believe thee? what dost thou work? John 6:30

12. And he sighed deeply in his spirit, and saith, Why doth this generation seek after a sign? verily I say unto you, There shall no sign be given unto this generation.

- But he answered and said unto them, An evil and adulterous generation seeketh after a sign; and there shall no sign be given to it, but the sign of the prophet Jonas: Matt. 12:39

- He answereth him, and saith, O faithless generation, how long shall I be with you? how long shall I suffer you? bring him unto me. Mark 9:19

- And he said unto him, If they hear not Moses and the prophets, neither will they be persuaded, though one rose from the dead. Luke 16:31

13. And he left them, and entering into the ship again departed to the other side.

- So I gave them up unto their own hearts' lust: and they walked in their own counsels. Ps. 81:12

- And when this people, or the prophet, or a priest, shall ask thee, saying, What is the burden of the LORD? thou shalt then say unto them, What burden? I will even forsake you, saith the LORD. Jer. 23:33

- Ephraim is joined to idols: let him alone. Hos. 4:17

14. Now the disciples had forgotten to take bread, neither had they in the ship with them more than one loaf.

- Bless the LORD, O my soul, and forget not all his benefits: Ps. 103:2

- Can a woman forget her sucking child, that she should not have compassion on the son of her womb? yea, they may forget, yet will I not forget thee. Isa. 49:15

- And when his disciples were come to the other side, they had forgotten to take bread. Matt. 16:5

15. And he charged them, saying, Take heed, beware of the leaven of the Pharisees, and of the leaven of Herod.

- And they send unto him certain of the Pharisees and of the Herodians, to catch him in his words. Mark 12:13

- In the mean time, when there were gathered together an innumerable multitude of people, insomuch that they trode one upon another, he began to say unto his disciples first of all, Beware ye of the leaven of the Pharisees, which is hypocrisy. Luke 12:1

- Therefore let us keep the feast, not with old leaven, neither with the leaven of malice and wickedness; but with the unleavened bread of sincerity and truth. 1 Cor. 5:8

16. And they reasoned among themselves, saying, It is because we have no bread.

- And the people spake against God, and against Moses, Wherefore have ye brought us up out of Egypt to die in the wilderness? for there is no bread, neither is there any water; and our soul loatheth this light bread. Num. 21:5

- And they kept that saying with themselves, questioning one with another what the rising from the dead should mean. Mark 9:10

- Then there arose a reasoning among them, which of them should be greatest. Luke 9:46

17. And when Jesus knew it, he saith unto them, Why reason ye, because ye have no bread? perceive ye not yet, neither understand? have ye your heart yet hardened?

- O LORD, why hast thou made us to err from thy ways, and hardened our heart from thy fear? Return for thy servants' sake, the tribes of thine inheritance. Isa. 63:17

- For they considered not the miracle of the loaves: for their heart was hardened. Mark 6:52

- Of whom we have many things to say, and hard to be uttered, seeing ye are dull of hearing. Heb. 5:11

18. Having eyes, see ye not? and having ears, hear ye not? and do ye not remember?

- And he said, Go, and tell this people, Hear ye indeed, but understand not; and see ye indeed, but perceive not. Isa. 6:9

- Hear now this, O foolish people, and without understanding; which have eyes, and see not; which have ears, and hear not: Jer. 5:21

- Son of man, thou dwellest in the midst of a rebellious house, which have eyes to see, and see not; they have ears to hear, and hear not: for they are a rebellious house. Ezek. 12:2

19. When I brake the five loaves among five thousand, how many baskets full of fragments took ye up? They say unto him, Twelve.

- So he set it before them, and they did eat, and left thereof, according to the word of the LORD. 2 Kings 4:44

- And when he had taken the five loaves and the two fishes, he looked up to heaven, and blessed, and brake the loaves, and gave them to his disciples to set before them; and the two fishes divided he among them all. Mark 6:41

- And they took up twelve baskets full of the fragments, and of the fishes. Mark 6:43

20. And when the seven among four thousand, how many baskets full of fragments took ye up? And they said, Seven.

- This is the thing which the LORD hath commanded, Gather of it every man according to his eating, an omer for every man, according to the number of your persons; take ye every man for them which are in his tents. Ex. 16:16

- And he commanded the people to sit down on the ground: and he took the seven loaves, and gave thanks, and brake, and gave to his disciples to set before them; and they did set them before the people. Mark 8:6

- So they did eat, and were filled: and they took up of the broken meat that was left seven baskets. Mark 8:8

21. And he said unto them, How is it that ye do not understand?

- Understand, ye brutish among the people: and ye fools, when will ye be wise? Ps. 94:8

- How is it that ye do not understand that I spake it not to you concerning bread, that ye should beware of the leaven of the Pharisees and of the Sadducees? Matt. 16:11

- For they considered not the miracle of the loaves: for their heart was hardened. Mark 6:52

22. And he cometh to Bethsaida; and they bring a blind man unto him, and besought him to touch him.

- Woe unto thee, Chorazin! woe unto thee, Bethsaida! for if the mighty works, which were done in you, had been done in Tyre and Sidon, they would have repented long ago in sackcloth and ashes. Matt. 11:21

- And straightway he constrained his disciples to get into the ship, and to go to the other side before unto Bethsaida, while he sent away the people. Mark 6:45

- And whithersoever he entered, into villages, or cities, or country, they laid the sick in the streets, and besought him that they might touch if it were but the border of his garment: and as many as touched him were made whole. Mark 6:56

23. And he took the blind man by the hand, and led him out of the town; and when he had spit on his eyes, and put his hands upon him, he asked him if he saw ought.

- And besought him greatly, saying, My little daughter lieth at the point of death: I pray thee, come and lay thy hands on her, that she may be healed; and she shall live. Mark 5:23

- And he took him aside from the multitude, and put his fingers into his ears, and he spit, and touched his tongue; Mark 7:33

- I counsel thee to buy of me gold tried in the fire, that thou mayest be rich; and white raiment, that thou mayest be clothed, and that the shame of thy nakedness do not appear; and anoint thine eyes with eyesalve, that thou mayest see. Rev. 3:18

24. And he looked up, and said, I see men as trees, walking.

- And when Gaal saw the people, he said to Zebul, Behold, there come people down from the top of the mountains. And Zebul said unto him, Thou seest the shadow of the mountains as if they were men. Judg. 9:36

- And the eyes of them that see shall not be dim, and the ears of them that hear shall hearken. Isa. 32:3

- For now we see through a glass, darkly; but then face to face: now I know in part; but then shall I know even as also I am known. 1 Cor. 13:12

25. After that he put his hands again upon his eyes, and made him look up: and he was restored, and saw every man clearly.

- But the path of the just is as the shining light, that shineth more and more unto the perfect day. Prov. 4:18

- For whosoever hath, to him shall be given, and he shall have more abundance: but whosoever hath not, from him shall be taken away even that he hath. Matt. 13:12

- Being confident of this very thing, that he which hath begun a good work in you will perform it until the day of Jesus Christ: Phil. 1:6

26. And he sent him away to his house, saying, Neither go into the town, nor tell it to any in the town.

- And Jesus saith unto him, See thou tell no man; but go thy way, shew thyself to the priest, and offer the gift that Moses commanded, for a testimony unto them. Matt. 8:4

- And their eyes were opened; and Jesus straitly charged them, saying, See that no man know it. Matt. 9:30

- And he charged them that they should tell no man: but the more he charged them, so much the more a great deal they published it; Mark 7:36

27. And Jesus went out, and his disciples, into the towns of Caesarea Philippi: and by the way he asked his disciples, saying unto them, Whom do men say that I am?

- When Jesus came into the coasts of Caesarea Philippi, he asked his disciples, saying, Whom do men say that I the Son of man am? Matt. 16:13

- The baptism of John, whence was it? from heaven, or of men? And they reasoned with themselves, saying, If we shall say, From heaven; he will say unto us, Why did ye not then believe him? Matt. 21:25

- And it came to pass, as he was alone praying, his disciples were with him: and he asked them, saying, Whom say the people that I am? Luke 9:18

28. And they answered, John the Baptist; but some say, Elias; and others, One of the prophets.

- Behold, I will send you Elijah the prophet before the coming of the great and dreadful day of the LORD: Mal. 4:5

- And king Herod heard of him; (for his name was spread abroad:) and he said, That John the Baptist was risen from the dead, and therefore mighty works do shew forth themselves in him. Mark 6:14

- And they asked him, What then? Art thou Elias? And he saith, I am not. Art thou that prophet? And he answered, No. John 1:21

29. And he saith unto them, But whom say ye that I am? And Peter answereth and saith unto him, Thou art the Christ.

- And Simon Peter answered and said, Thou art the Christ, the Son of the living God. Matt. 16:16

- And we believe and are sure that thou art that Christ, the Son of the living God. John 6:69

- She saith unto him, Yea, Lord: I believe that thou art the Christ, the Son of God, which should come into the world. John 11:27

30. And he charged them that they should tell no man of him.

- Then charged he his disciples that they should tell no man that he was Jesus the Christ. Matt. 16:20

- And as they came down from the mountain, he charged them that they should tell no man what things they had seen, till the Son of man were risen from the dead. Mark 9:9

- And he straitly charged them, and commanded them to tell no man that thing; Luke 9:21

31. And he began to teach them, that the Son of man must suffer many things, and be rejected of the elders, and of the chief priests, and scribes, and be killed, and after three days rise again.

- For he taught his disciples, and said unto them, The Son of man is delivered into the hands of men, and they shall kill him; and after that he is killed, he shall rise the third day. Mark 9:31

- Saying, Behold, we go up to Jerusalem; and the Son of man shall be delivered unto the chief priests, and unto the scribes; and they shall condemn him to death, and shall deliver him to the Gentiles: Mark 10:33

- And have ye not read this scripture; The stone which the builders rejected is become the head of the corner: Mark 12:10

32. And he spake that saying openly. And Peter took him, and began to rebuke him.

- Then Peter took him, and began to rebuke him, saying, Be it far from thee, Lord: this shall not be unto thee. Matt. 16:22

- These things have I spoken unto you in proverbs: but the time cometh, when I shall no more speak unto you in proverbs, but I shall shew you plainly of the Father. John 16:25

- His disciples said unto him, Lo, now speakest thou plainly, and speakest no proverb. John 16:29

33. But when he had turned about and looked on his disciples, he rebuked Peter, saying, Get thee behind me, Satan: for thou savourest not the things that be of God, but the things that be of men.

- And the serpent said unto the woman, Ye shall not surely die: Gen. 3:4

- Then saith Jesus unto him, Get thee hence, Satan: for it is written, Thou shalt worship the Lord thy God, and him only shalt thou serve. Matt. 4:10

- Whose end is destruction, whose God is their belly, and whose glory is in their shame, who mind earthly things.) Phil. 3:19

34. And when he had called the people unto him with his disciples also, he said unto them, Whosoever will come after me, let him deny himself, and take up his cross, and follow me.

- And he that taketh not his cross, and followeth after me, is not worthy of me. Matt. 10:38

- If any man come to me, and hate not his father, and mother, and wife, and children, and brethren, and sisters, yea, and his own life also, he cannot be my disciple. Luke 14:26

- If any man serve me, let him follow me; and where I am, there shall also my servant be: if any man serve me, him will my Father honour. John 12:26

35. For whosoever will save his life shall lose it; but whosoever shall lose his life for my sake and the gospel's, the same shall save it.

- He that findeth his life shall lose it: and he that loseth his life for my sake shall find it. Matt. 10:39

- Whosoever shall seek to save his life shall lose it; and whosoever shall lose his life shall preserve it. Luke 17:33

- He that loveth his life shall lose it; and he that hateth his life in this world shall keep it unto life eternal. John 12:25

36. For what shall it profit a man, if he shall gain the whole world, and lose his own soul?

- And Satan answered the LORD, and said, Skin for skin, yea, all that a man hath will he give for his life. Job 2:4

- For when he dieth he shall carry nothing away: his glory shall not descend after him. Ps. 49:17

- But God said unto him, Thou fool, this night thy soul shall be required of thee: then whose shall those things be, which thou hast provided? Luke 12:20

37. Or what shall a man give in exchange for his soul?

- (For the redemption of their soul is precious, and it ceaseth for ever:) Ps. 49:8

- For even the Son of man came not to be ministered unto, but to minister, and to give his life a ransom for many. Mark 10:45

- Forasmuch as ye know that ye were not redeemed with corruptible things, as silver and gold, from your vain conversation received by tradition from your fathers; 1 Pet. 1:18

38. Whosoever therefore shall be ashamed of me and of my words in this adulterous and sinful generation; of him also shall the Son of man be ashamed, when he cometh in the glory of his Father with the holy angels.

- But whosoever shall deny me before men, him will I also deny before my Father which is in heaven. Matt. 10:33

- When the Son of man shall come in his glory, and all the holy angels with him, then shall he sit upon the throne of his glory: Matt. 25:31

- If we suffer, we shall also reign with him: if we deny him, he also will deny us: 2 Tim. 2:12
