1. And when he had called unto him his twelve disciples, he gave them power against unclean spirits, to cast them out, and to heal all manner of sickness and all manner of disease.

- And he goeth up into a mountain, and calleth unto him whom he would: and they came unto him. Mark 3:13

- And he called unto him the twelve, and began to send them forth by two and two; and gave them power over unclean spirits; Mark 6:7

- After these things the LORD appointed other seventy also, and sent them two and two before his face into every city and place, whither he himself would come. Luke 10:1

2. Now the names of the twelve apostles are these; The first, Simon, who is called Peter, and Andrew his brother; James the son of Zebedee, and John his brother;

- And Jesus, walking by the sea of Galilee, saw two brethren, Simon called Peter, and Andrew his brother, casting a net into the sea: for they were fishers. Matt. 4:18

- And going on from thence, he saw other two brethren, James the son of Zebedee, and John his brother, in a ship with Zebedee their father, mending their nets; and he called them. Matt. 4:21

- And he brought him to Jesus. And when Jesus beheld him, he said, Thou art Simon the son of Jona: thou shalt be called Cephas, which is by interpretation, A stone. John 1:42

3. Philip, and Bartholomew; Thomas, and Matthew the publican; James the son of Alphaeus, and Lebbaeus, whose surname was Thaddaeus;

- And as Jesus passed forth from thence, he saw a man, named Matthew, sitting at the receipt of custom: and he saith unto him, Follow me. And he arose, and followed him. Matt. 9:9

- And Andrew, and Philip, and Bartholomew, and Matthew, and Thomas, and James the son of Alphaeus, and Thaddaeus, and Simon the Canaanite, Mark 3:18

- And when they were come in, they went up into an upper room, where abode both Peter, and James, and John, and Andrew, Philip, and Thomas, Bartholomew, and Matthew, James the son of Alphaeus, and Simon Zelotes, and Judas the brother of James. Acts 1:13

4. Simon the Canaanite, and Judas Iscariot, who also betrayed him.

- Then one of the twelve, called Judas Iscariot, went unto the chief priests, Matt. 26:14

- And while he yet spake, lo, Judas, one of the twelve, came, and with him a great multitude with swords and staves, from the chief priests and elders of the people. Matt. 26:47

- And supper being ended, the devil having now put into the heart of Judas Iscariot, Simon's son, to betray him; John 13:2

5. These twelve Jesus sent forth, and commanded them, saying, Go not into the way of the Gentiles, and into any city of the Samaritans enter ye not:

- But he answered and said, I am not sent but unto the lost sheep of the house of Israel. Matt. 15:24

- Then saith the woman of Samaria unto him, How is it that thou, being a Jew, askest drink of me, which am a woman of Samaria? for the Jews have no dealings with the Samaritans. John 4:9

- But ye shall receive power, after that the Holy Ghost is come upon you: and ye shall be witnesses unto me both in Jerusalem, and in all Judaea, and in Samaria, and unto the uttermost part of the earth. Acts 1:8

6. But go rather to the lost sheep of the house of Israel.

- I have gone astray like a lost sheep; seek thy servant; for I do not forget thy commandments. Ps. 119:176

- All we like sheep have gone astray; we have turned every one to his own way; and the LORD hath laid on him the iniquity of us all. Isa. 53:6

- My people hath been lost sheep: their shepherds have caused them to go astray, they have turned them away on the mountains: they have gone from mountain to hill, they have forgotten their restingplace. Jer. 50:6

7. And as ye go, preach, saying, The kingdom of heaven is at hand.

- The Spirit of the Lord GOD is upon me; because the LORD hath anointed me to preach good tidings unto the meek; he hath sent me to bind up the brokenhearted, to proclaim liberty to the captives, and the opening of the prison to them that are bound; Isa. 61:1

- And saying, Repent ye: for the kingdom of heaven is at hand. Matt. 3:2

- From that time Jesus began to preach, and to say, Repent: for the kingdom of heaven is at hand. Matt. 4:17

8. Heal the sick, cleanse the lepers, raise the dead, cast out devils: freely ye have received, freely give.

- They shall take up serpents; and if they drink any deadly thing, it shall not hurt them; they shall lay hands on the sick, and they shall recover. Mark 16:18

- Then Peter said, Silver and gold have I none; but such as I have give I thee: In the name of Jesus Christ of Nazareth rise up and walk. Acts 3:6

- By stretching forth thine hand to heal; and that signs and wonders may be done by the name of thy holy child Jesus. Acts 4:30

9. Provide neither gold, nor silver, nor brass in your purses,

- And commanded them that they should take nothing for their journey, save a staff only; no scrip, no bread, no money in their purse: Mark 6:8

- And he said unto them, Take nothing for your journey, neither staves, nor scrip, neither bread, neither money; neither have two coats apiece. Luke 9:3

- If we have sown unto you spiritual things, is it a great thing if we shall reap your carnal things? 1 Cor. 9:11

10. Nor scrip for your journey, neither two coats, neither shoes, nor yet staves: for the workman is worthy of his meat.

- And ye shall eat it in every place, ye and your households: for it is your reward for your service in the tabernacle of the congregation. Num. 18:31

- Then said Saul to his servant, But, behold, if we go, what shall we bring the man? for the bread is spent in our vessels, and there is not a present to bring to the man of God: what have we? 1 Sam. 9:7

- For the scripture saith, Thou shalt not muzzle the ox that treadeth out the corn. And, The labourer is worthy of his reward. 1 Tim. 5:18

11. And into whatsoever city or town ye shall enter, enquire who in it is worthy; and there abide till ye go thence.

- Arise, get thee to Zarephath, which belongeth to Zidon, and dwell there: behold, I have commanded a widow woman there to sustain thee. 1 Kings 17:9

- And when she was baptized, and her household, she besought us, saying, If ye have judged me to be faithful to the Lord, come into my house, and abide there. And she constrained us. Acts 16:15

- And the next day we that were of Paul's company departed, and came unto Caesarea: and we entered into the house of Philip the evangelist, which was one of the seven; and abode with him. Acts 21:8

12. And when ye come into an house, salute it.

- And thus shall ye say to him that liveth in prosperity, Peace be both to thee, and peace be to thine house, and peace be unto all that thou hast. 1 Sam. 25:6

- And into whatsoever house ye enter, first say, Peace be to this house. Luke 10:5

- The word which God sent unto the children of Israel, preaching peace by Jesus Christ: (he is Lord of all:) Acts 10:36

13. And if the house be worthy, let your peace come upon it: but if it be not worthy, let your peace return to you.

- Peace I leave with you, my peace I give unto you: not as the world giveth, give I unto you. Let not your heart be troubled, neither let it be afraid. John 14:27

- For we are unto God a sweet savour of Christ, in them that are saved, and in them that perish: 2 Cor. 2:15

- Now the Lord of peace himself give you peace always by all means. The Lord be with you all. 2 Thess. 3:16

14. And whosoever shall not receive you, nor hear your words, when ye depart out of that house or city, shake off the dust of your feet.

- Also I shook my lap, and said, So God shake out every man from his house, and from his labour, that performeth not this promise, even thus be he shaken out, and emptied. And all the congregation said, Amen, and praised the LORD. And the people did according to this promise. Neh. 5:13

- But they shook off the dust of their feet against them, and came unto Iconium. Acts 13:51

- And when they opposed themselves, and blasphemed, he shook his raiment, and said unto them, Your blood be upon your own heads; I am clean; from henceforth I will go unto the Gentiles. Acts 18:6

15. Verily I say unto you, It shall be more tolerable for the land of Sodom and Gomorrha in the day of judgment, than for that city.

- And thou, Capernaum, which art exalted unto heaven, shalt be brought down to hell: for if the mighty works, which have been done in thee, had been done in Sodom, it would have remained until this day. Matt. 11:23

- The Lord knoweth how to deliver the godly out of temptations, and to reserve the unjust unto the day of judgment to be punished: 2 Pet. 2:9

- Herein is our love made perfect, that we may have boldness in the day of judgment: because as he is, so are we in this world. 1 John 4:17

16. Behold, I send you forth as sheep in the midst of wolves: be ye therefore wise as serpents, and harmless as doves.

- Now the serpent was more subtil than any beast of the field which the LORD God had made. And he said unto the woman, Yea, hath God said, Ye shall not eat of every tree of the garden? Gen. 3:1

- For I know this, that after my departing shall grievous wolves enter in among you, not sparing the flock. Acts 20:29

- For your obedience is come abroad unto all men. I am glad therefore on your behalf: but yet I would have you wise unto that which is good, and simple concerning evil. Rom. 16:19

17. But beware of men: for they will deliver you up to the councils, and they will scourge you in their synagogues;

- Wherefore, behold, I send unto you prophets, and wise men, and scribes: and some of them ye shall kill and crucify; and some of them shall ye scourge in your synagogues, and persecute them from city to city: Matt. 23:34

- They shall put you out of the synagogues: yea, the time cometh, that whosoever killeth you will think that he doeth God service. John 16:2

- And I punished them oft in every synagogue, and compelled them to blaspheme; and being exceedingly mad against them, I persecuted them even unto strange cities. Acts 26:11

18. And ye shall be brought before governors and kings for my sake, for a testimony against them and the Gentiles.

- And it shall turn to you for a testimony. Luke 21:13

- And on the morrow, when Agrippa was come, and Bernice, with great pomp, and was entered into the place of hearing, with the chief captains, and principal men of the city, at Festus' commandment Paul was brought forth. Acts 25:23

- Saying, Fear not, Paul; thou must be brought before Caesar: and, lo, God hath given thee all them that sail with thee. Acts 27:24

19. But when they deliver you up, take no thought how or what ye shall speak: for it shall be given you in that same hour what ye shall speak.

- Now therefore go, and I will be with thy mouth, and teach thee what thou shalt say. Ex. 4:12

- But when they shall lead you, and deliver you up, take no thought beforehand what ye shall speak, neither do ye premeditate: but whatsoever shall be given you in that hour, that speak ye: for it is not ye that speak, but the Holy Ghost. Mark 13:11

- For I will give you a mouth and wisdom, which all your adversaries shall not be able to gainsay nor resist. Luke 21:15

20. For it is not ye that speak, but the Spirit of your Father which speaketh in you.

- The Spirit of the LORD spake by me, and his word was in my tongue. 2 Sam. 23:2

- Then Peter, filled with the Holy Ghost, said unto them, Ye rulers of the people, and elders of Israel, Acts 4:8

- And they were not able to resist the wisdom and the spirit by which he spake. Acts 6:10

21. And the brother shall deliver up the brother to death, and the father the child: and the children shall rise up against their parents, and cause them to be put to death.

- And David said to Abishai, and to all his servants, Behold, my son, which came forth of my bowels, seeketh my life: how much more now may this Benjamite do it? let him alone, and let him curse; for the LORD hath bidden him. 2 Sam. 16:11

- For the son dishonoureth the father, the daughter riseth up against her mother, the daughter in law against her mother in law; a man's enemies are the men of his own house. Mic. 7:6

- And it shall come to pass, that when any shall yet prophesy, then his father and his mother that begat him shall say unto him, Thou shalt not live; for thou speakest lies in the name of the LORD: and his father and his mother that begat him shall thrust him through when he prophesieth. Zech. 13:3

22. And ye shall be hated of all men for my name's sake: but he that endureth to the end shall be saved.

- Blessed is he that waiteth, and cometh to the thousand three hundred and five and thirty days. Dan. 12:12

- Being defamed, we intreat: we are made as the filth of the world, and are the offscouring of all things unto this day. 1 Cor. 4:13

- Fear none of those things which thou shalt suffer: behold, the devil shall cast some of you into prison, that ye may be tried; and ye shall have tribulation ten days: be thou faithful unto death, and I will give thee a crown of life. Rev. 2:10

23. But when they persecute you in this city, flee ye into another: for verily I say unto you, Ye shall not have gone over the cities of Israel, till the Son of man be come.

- And Jesus went about all the cities and villages, teaching in their synagogues, and preaching the gospel of the kingdom, and healing every sickness and every disease among the people. Matt. 9:35

- Verily I say unto you, There be some standing here, which shall not taste of death, till they see the Son of man coming in his kingdom. Matt. 16:28

- And Saul was consenting unto his death. And at that time there was a great persecution against the church which was at Jerusalem; and they were all scattered abroad throughout the regions of Judaea and Samaria, except the apostles. Acts 8:1

24. The disciple is not above his master, nor the servant above his lord.

- The disciple is not above his master: but every one that is perfect shall be as his master. Luke 6:40

- Verily, verily, I say unto you, The servant is not greater than his lord; neither he that is sent greater than he that sent him. John 13:16

- Remember the word that I said unto you, The servant is not greater than his lord. If they have persecuted me, they will also persecute you; if they have kept my saying, they will keep yours also. John 15:20

25. It is enough for the disciple that he be as his master, and the servant as his lord. If they have called the master of the house Beelzebub, how much more shall they call them of his household?

- But when the Pharisees heard it, they said, This fellow doth not cast out devils, but by Beelzebub the prince of the devils. Matt. 12:24

- The people answered and said, Thou hast a devil: who goeth about to kill thee? John 7:20

- Then said the Jews unto him, Now we know that thou hast a devil. Abraham is dead, and the prophets; and thou sayest, If a man keep my saying, he shall never taste of death. John 8:52

26. Fear them not therefore: for there is nothing covered, that shall not be revealed; and hid, that shall not be known.

- Be not afraid of their faces: for I am with thee to deliver thee, saith the LORD. Jer. 1:8

- For there is nothing hid, which shall not be manifested; neither was any thing kept secret, but that it should come abroad. Mark 4:22

- Therefore judge nothing before the time, until the Lord come, who both will bring to light the hidden things of darkness, and will make manifest the counsels of the hearts: and then shall every man have praise of God. 1 Cor. 4:5

27. What I tell you in darkness, that speak ye in light: and what ye hear in the ear, that preach ye upon the housetops.

- Let your light so shine before men, that they may see your good works, and glorify your Father which is in heaven. Matt. 5:16

- Go, stand and speak in the temple to the people all the words of this life. Acts 5:20

- Seeing then that we have such hope, we use great plainness of speech: 2 Cor. 3:12

28. And fear not them which kill the body, but are not able to kill the soul: but rather fear him which is able to destroy both soul and body in hell.

- I, even I, am he that comforteth you: who art thou, that thou shouldest be afraid of a man that shall die, and of the son of man which shall be made as grass; Isa. 51:12

- And these shall go away into everlasting punishment: but the righteous into life eternal. Matt. 25:46

- There is one lawgiver, who is able to save and to destroy: who art thou that judgest another? James 4:12

29. Are not two sparrows sold for a farthing? and one of them shall not fall on the ground without your Father.

- Who provideth for the raven his food? when his young ones cry unto God, they wander for lack of meat. Job 38:41

- These wait all upon thee; that thou mayest give them their meat in due season. Ps. 104:27

- I know all the fowls of the mountains: and the wild beasts of the field are mine. Ps. 50:11

30. But the very hairs of your head are all numbered.

- And the people said unto Saul, Shall Jonathan die, who hath wrought this great salvation in Israel? God forbid: as the LORD liveth, there shall not one hair of his head fall to the ground; for he hath wrought with God this day. So the people rescued Jonathan, that he died not. 1 Sam. 14:45

- Then said she, I pray thee, let the king remember the LORD thy God, that thou wouldest not suffer the revengers of blood to destroy any more, lest they destroy my son. And he said, As the LORD liveth, there shall not one hair of thy son fall to the earth. 2 Sam. 14:11

- Wherefore I pray you to take some meat: for this is for your health: for there shall not an hair fall from the head of any of you. Acts 27:34

31. Fear ye not therefore, ye are of more value than many sparrows.

- Behold the fowls of the air: for they sow not, neither do they reap, nor gather into barns; yet your heavenly Father feedeth them. Are ye not much better than they? Matt. 6:26

- How much then is a man better than a sheep? Wherefore it is lawful to do well on the sabbath days. Matt. 12:12

- Consider the ravens: for they neither sow nor reap; which neither have storehouse nor barn; and God feedeth them: how much more are ye better than the fowls? Luke 12:24

32. Whosoever therefore shall confess me before men, him will I confess also before my Father which is in heaven.

- That if thou shalt confess with thy mouth the Lord Jesus, and shalt believe in thine heart that God hath raised him from the dead, thou shalt be saved. Rom. 10:9

- Be not thou therefore ashamed of the testimony of our Lord, nor of me his prisoner: but be thou partaker of the afflictions of the gospel according to the power of God; 2 Tim. 1:8

- He that overcometh, the same shall be clothed in white raiment; and I will not blot out his name out of the book of life, but I will confess his name before my Father, and before his angels. Rev. 3:5

33. But whosoever shall deny me before men, him will I also deny before my Father which is in heaven.

- Whosoever therefore shall be ashamed of me and of my words in this adulterous and sinful generation; of him also shall the Son of man be ashamed, when he cometh in the glory of his Father with the holy angels. Mark 8:38

- If we suffer, we shall also reign with him: if we deny him, he also will deny us: 2 Tim. 2:12

- Whosoever denieth the Son, the same hath not the Father: he that acknowledgeth the Son hath the Father also. 1 John 2:23

34. Think not that I am come to send peace on earth: I came not to send peace, but a sword.

- Woe is me, my mother, that thou hast borne me a man of strife and a man of contention to the whole earth! I have neither lent on usury, nor men have lent to me on usury; yet every one of them doth curse me. Jer. 15:10

- Suppose ye that I am come to give peace on earth? I tell you, Nay; but rather division: Luke 12:51

- But the multitude of the city was divided: and part held with the Jews, and part with the apostles. Acts 14:4

35. For I am come to set a man at variance against his father, and the daughter against her mother, and the daughter in law against her mother in law.

- Trust ye not in a friend, put ye not confidence in a guide: keep the doors of thy mouth from her that lieth in thy bosom. Mic. 7:5

- And the brother shall deliver up the brother to death, and the father the child: and the children shall rise up against their parents, and cause them to be put to death. Matt. 10:21

- And ye shall be betrayed both by parents, and brethren, and kinsfolks, and friends; and some of you shall they cause to be put to death. Luke 21:16

36. And a man's foes shall be they of his own household.

- Yea, mine own familiar friend, in whom I trusted, which did eat of my bread, hath lifted up his heel against me. Ps. 41:9

- For even thy brethren, and the house of thy father, even they have dealt treacherously with thee; yea, they have called a multitude after thee: believe them not, though they speak fair words unto thee. Jer. 12:6

37. He that loveth father or mother more than me is not worthy of me: and he that loveth son or daughter more than me is not worthy of me.

- Who said unto his father and to his mother, I have not seen him; neither did he acknowledge his brethren, nor knew his own children: for they have observed thy word, and kept thy covenant. Deut. 33:9

- Jesus said unto him, Thou shalt love the Lord thy God with all thy heart, and with all thy soul, and with all thy mind. Matt. 22:37

- If any man come to me, and hate not his father, and mother, and wife, and children, and brethren, and sisters, yea, and his own life also, he cannot be my disciple. Luke 14:26

38. And he that taketh not his cross, and followeth after me, is not worthy of me.

- Then said Jesus unto his disciples, If any man will come after me, let him deny himself, and take up his cross, and follow me. Matt. 16:24

- And whosoever doth not bear his cross, and come after me, cannot be my disciple. Luke 14:27

- And he bearing his cross went forth into a place called the place of a skull, which is called in the Hebrew Golgotha: John 19:17

39. He that findeth his life shall lose it: and he that loseth his life for my sake shall find it.

- He must increase, but I must decrease. John 3:30

- He that loveth his life shall lose it; and he that hateth his life in this world shall keep it unto life eternal. John 12:25

- That ye put off concerning the former conversation the old man, which is corrupt according to the deceitful lusts; Eph. 4:22

40. He that receiveth you receiveth me, and he that receiveth me receiveth him that sent me.

- And whoso shall receive one such little child in my name receiveth me. Matt. 18:5

- Verily, verily, I say unto you, He that receiveth whomsoever I send receiveth me; and he that receiveth me receiveth him that sent me. John 13:20

- And my temptation which was in my flesh ye despised not, nor rejected; but received me as an angel of God, even as Christ Jesus. Gal. 4:14

41. He that receiveth a prophet in the name of a prophet shall receive a prophet's reward; and he that receiveth a righteous man in the name of a righteous man shall receive a righteous man's reward.

- And she went and did according to the saying of Elijah: and she, and he, and her house, did eat many days. 1 Kings 17:15

- And he said unto him, Say now unto her, Behold, thou hast been careful for us with all this care; what is to be done for thee? wouldest thou be spoken for to the king, or to the captain of the host? And she answered, I dwell among mine own people. 2 Kings 4:13

- For God is not unrighteous to forget your work and labour of love, which ye have shewed toward his name, in that ye have ministered to the saints, and do minister. Heb. 6:10

42. And whosoever shall give to drink unto one of these little ones a cup of cold water only in the name of a disciple, verily I say unto you, he shall in no wise lose his reward.

- And whoso shall receive one such little child in my name receiveth me. Matt. 18:5

- Take heed that ye despise not one of these little ones; for I say unto you, That in heaven their angels do always behold the face of my Father which is in heaven. Matt. 18:10

- And the King shall answer and say unto them, Verily I say unto you, Inasmuch as ye have done it unto one of the least of these my brethren, ye have done it unto me. Matt. 25:40
