1. What advantage then hath the Jew? or what profit is there of circumcision?

- For circumcision verily profiteth, if thou keep the law: but if thou be a breaker of the law, thy circumcision is made uncircumcision. Rom. 2:25

- And he received the sign of circumcision, a seal of the righteousness of the faith which he had yet being uncircumcised: that he might be the father of all them that believe, though they be not circumcised; that righteousness might be imputed unto them also: Rom. 4:11

- Who are Israelites; to whom pertaineth the adoption, and the glory, and the covenants, and the giving of the law, and the service of God, and the promises; Rom. 9:4

2. Much every way: chiefly, because that unto them were committed the oracles of God.

- And what nation is there so great, that hath statutes and judgments so righteous as all this law, which I set before you this day? Deut. 4:8

- And Joshua wrote these words in the book of the law of God, and took a great stone, and set it up there under an oak, that was by the sanctuary of the LORD. Josh. 24:26

- He sheweth his word unto Jacob, his statutes and his judgments unto Israel. Ps. 147:19

3. For what if some did not believe? shall their unbelief make the faith of God without effect?

- God is not a man, that he should lie; neither the son of man, that he should repent: hath he said, and shall he not do it? or hath he spoken, and shall he not make it good? Num. 23:19

- For the gifts and calling of God are without repentance. Rom. 11:29

- If we believe not, yet he abideth faithful: he cannot deny himself. 2 Tim. 2:13

4. God forbid: yea, let God be true, but every man a liar; as it is written, That thou mightest be justified in thy sayings, and mightest overcome when thou art judged.

- I said in my haste, All men are liars. Ps. 116:11

- Against thee, thee only, have I sinned, and done this evil in thy sight: that thou mightest be justified when thou speakest, and be clear when thou judgest. Ps. 51:4

- He that hath received his testimony hath set to his seal that God is true. John 3:33

5. But if our unrighteousness commend the righteousness of God, what shall we say? Is God unrighteous who taketh vengeance? (I speak as a man)

- Doth God pervert judgment? or doth the Almighty pervert justice? Job 8:3

- Therefore hearken unto me ye men of understanding: far be it from God, that he should do wickedness; and from the Almighty, that he should commit iniquity. Job 34:10

- What shall we say then? Is there unrighteousness with God? God forbid. Rom. 9:14

6. God forbid: for then how shall God judge the world?

- That be far from thee to do after this manner, to slay the righteous with the wicked: and that the righteous should be as the wicked, that be far from thee: Shall not the Judge of all the earth do right? Gen. 18:25

- And he shall judge the world in righteousness, he shall minister judgment to the people in uprightness. Ps. 9:8

- Because he hath appointed a day, in the which he will judge the world in righteousness by that man whom he hath ordained; whereof he hath given assurance unto all men, in that he hath raised him from the dead. Acts 17:31

7. For if the truth of God hath more abounded through my lie unto his glory; why yet am I also judged as a sinner?

- Behold, I send you forth as sheep in the midst of wolves: be ye therefore wise as serpents, and harmless as doves. Matt. 10:16

- Thou wilt say then unto me, Why doth he yet find fault? For who hath resisted his will? Rom. 9:19

- What then? notwithstanding, every way, whether in pretence, or in truth, Christ is preached; and I therein do rejoice, yea, and will rejoice. Phil. 1:18

8. And not rather, (as we be slanderously reported, and as some affirm that we say,) Let us do evil, that good may come? whose damnation is just.

- What shall we say then? Shall we continue in sin, that grace may abound? Rom. 6:1

- What then? shall we sin, because we are not under the law, but under grace? God forbid. Rom. 6:15

- For there are certain men crept in unawares, who were before of old ordained to this condemnation, ungodly men, turning the grace of our God into lasciviousness, and denying the only Lord God, and our Lord Jesus Christ. Jude 1:4

9. What then? are we better than they? No, in no wise: for we have before proved both Jews and Gentiles, that they are all under sin;

- Jesus answered them, Verily, verily, I say unto you, Whosoever committeth sin is the servant of sin. John 8:34

- Tribulation and anguish, upon every soul of man that doeth evil, of the Jew first, and also of the Gentile; Rom. 2:9

- But the scripture hath concluded all under sin, that the promise by faith of Jesus Christ might be given to them that believe. Gal. 3:22

10. As it is written, There is none righteous, no, not one:

- How then can man be justified with God? or how can he be clean that is born of a woman? Job 25:4

- The fool hath said in his heart, There is no God. They are corrupt, they have done abominable works, there is none that doeth good. Ps. 14:1

- The fool hath said in his heart, There is no God. Corrupt are they, and have done abominable iniquity: there is none that doeth good. Ps. 53:1

11. There is none that understandeth, there is none that seeketh after God.

- The LORD looked down from heaven upon the children of men, to see if there were any that did understand, and seek God. Ps. 14:2

- Professing themselves to be wise, they became fools, Rom. 1:22

- And even as they did not like to retain God in their knowledge, God gave them over to a reprobate mind, to do those things which are not convenient; Rom. 1:28

12. They are all gone out of the way, they are together become unprofitable; there is none that doeth good, no, not one.

- They are all gone aside, they are all together become filthy: there is none that doeth good, no, not one. Ps. 14:3

- For there is not a just man upon earth, that doeth good, and sinneth not. Eccles. 7:20

- All we like sheep have gone astray; we have turned every one to his own way; and the LORD hath laid on him the iniquity of us all. Isa. 53:6

13. Their throat is an open sepulchre; with their tongues they have used deceit; the poison of asps is under their lips:

- For there is no faithfulness in their mouth; their inward part is very wickedness; their throat is an open sepulchre; they flatter with their tongue. Ps. 5:9

- They have sharpened their tongues like a serpent; adders' poison is under their lips. Selah. Ps. 140:3

- And they will deceive every one his neighbour, and will not speak the truth: they have taught their tongue to speak lies, and weary themselves to commit iniquity. Jer. 9:5

14. Whose mouth is full of cursing and bitterness:

- His mouth is full of cursing and deceit and fraud: under his tongue is mischief and vanity. Ps. 10:7

- For the sin of their mouth and the words of their lips let them even be taken in their pride: and for cursing and lying which they speak. Ps. 59:12

- Let all bitterness, and wrath, and anger, and clamour, and evil speaking, be put away from you, with all malice: Eph. 4:31

15. Their feet are swift to shed blood:

- For their feet run to evil, and make haste to shed blood. Prov. 1:16

- An heart that deviseth wicked imaginations, feet that be swift in running to mischief, Prov. 6:18

- Their feet run to evil, and they make haste to shed innocent blood: their thoughts are thoughts of iniquity; wasting and destruction are in their paths. Isa. 59:7

16. Destruction and misery are in their ways:

- And the LORD said unto Moses, Go, get thee down; for thy people, which thou broughtest out of the land of Egypt, have corrupted themselves: Ex. 32:7

- His mouth is full of cursing and deceit and fraud: under his tongue is mischief and vanity. Ps. 10:7

- Their feet run to evil, and they make haste to shed innocent blood: their thoughts are thoughts of iniquity; wasting and destruction are in their paths. Isa. 59:7

17. And the way of peace have they not known:

- The way of peace they know not; and there is no judgment in their goings: they have made them crooked paths: whosoever goeth therein shall not know peace. Isa. 59:8

- To give light to them that sit in darkness and in the shadow of death, to guide our feet into the way of peace. Luke 1:79

- Therefore being justified by faith, we have peace with God through our Lord Jesus Christ: Rom. 5:1

18. There is no fear of God before their eyes.

- And Abraham said, Because I thought, Surely the fear of God is not in this place; and they will slay me for my wife's sake. Gen. 20:11

- The transgression of the wicked saith within my heart, that there is no fear of God before his eyes. Ps. 36:1

- But the other answering rebuked him, saying, Dost not thou fear God, seeing thou art in the same condemnation? Luke 23:40

19. Now we know that what things soever the law saith, it saith to them who are under the law: that every mouth may be stopped, and all the world may become guilty before God.

- That thou mayest remember, and be confounded, and never open thy mouth any more because of thy shame, when I am pacified toward thee for all that thou hast done, saith the Lord GOD. Ezek. 16:63

- For God hath concluded them all in unbelief, that he might have mercy upon all. Rom. 11:32

- But the scripture hath concluded all under sin, that the promise by faith of Jesus Christ might be given to them that believe. Gal. 3:22

20. Therefore by the deeds of the law there shall no flesh be justified in his sight: for by the law is the knowledge of sin.

- And by him all that believe are justified from all things, from which ye could not be justified by the law of Moses. Acts 13:39

- What shall we say then? Is the law sin? God forbid. Nay, I had not known sin, but by the law: for I had not known lust, except the law had said, Thou shalt not covet. Rom. 7:7

- Knowing that a man is not justified by the works of the law, but by the faith of Jesus Christ, even we have believed in Jesus Christ, that we might be justified by the faith of Christ, and not by the works of the law: for by the works of the law shall no flesh be justified. Gal. 2:16

21. But now the righteousness of God without the law is manifested, being witnessed by the law and the prophets;

- And he believed in the LORD; and he counted it to him for righteousness. Gen. 15:6

- For therein is the righteousness of God revealed from faith to faith: as it is written, The just shall live by faith. Rom. 1:17

- For Christ is the end of the law for righteousness to every one that believeth. Rom. 10:4

22. Even the righteousness of God which is by faith of Jesus Christ unto all and upon all them that believe: for there is no difference:

- Knowing that a man is not justified by the works of the law, but by the faith of Jesus Christ, even we have believed in Jesus Christ, that we might be justified by the faith of Christ, and not by the works of the law: for by the works of the law shall no flesh be justified. Gal. 2:16

- There is neither Jew nor Greek, there is neither bond nor free, there is neither male nor female: for ye are all one in Christ Jesus. Gal. 3:28

- And be found in him, not having mine own righteousness, which is of the law, but that which is through the faith of Christ, the righteousness which is of God by faith: Phil. 3:9

23. For all have sinned, and come short of the glory of God;

- For even that which was made glorious had no glory in this respect, by reason of the glory that excelleth. 2 Cor. 3:10

- If we say that we have no sin, we deceive ourselves, and the truth is not in us. 1 John 1:8

- If we say that we have not sinned, we make him a liar, and his word is not in us. 1 John 1:10

24. Being justified freely by his grace through the redemption that is in Christ Jesus:

- In whom we have redemption through his blood, the forgiveness of sins, according to the riches of his grace; Eph. 1:7

- In whom we have redemption through his blood, even the forgiveness of sins: Col. 1:14

- Neither by the blood of goats and calves, but by his own blood he entered in once into the holy place, having obtained eternal redemption for us. Heb. 9:12

25. Whom God hath set forth to be a propitiation through faith in his blood, to declare his righteousness for the remission of sins that are past, through the forbearance of God;

- To wit, that God was in Christ, reconciling the world unto himself, not imputing their trespasses unto them; and hath committed unto us the word of reconciliation. 2 Cor. 5:19

- And for this cause he is the mediator of the new testament, that by means of death, for the redemption of the transgressions that were under the first testament, they which are called might receive the promise of eternal inheritance. Heb. 9:15

- If we confess our sins, he is faithful and just to forgive us our sins, and to cleanse us from all unrighteousness. 1 John 1:9

26. To declare, I say, at this time his righteousness: that he might be just, and the justifier of him which believeth in Jesus.

- The just LORD is in the midst thereof; he will not do iniquity: every morning doth he bring his judgment to light, he faileth not; but the unjust knoweth no shame. Zeph. 3:5

- But unto you that fear my name shall the Sun of righteousness arise with healing in his wings; and ye shall go forth, and grow up as calves of the stall. Mal. 4:2

- But to him that worketh not, but believeth on him that justifieth the ungodly, his faith is counted for righteousness. Rom. 4:5

27. Where is boasting then? It is excluded. By what law? of works? Nay: but by the law of faith.

- But let him that glorieth glory in this, that he understandeth and knoweth me, that I am the LORD which exercise lovingkindness, judgment, and righteousness, in the earth: for in these things I delight, saith the LORD. Jer. 9:24

- For if Abraham were justified by works, he hath whereof to glory; but not before God. Rom. 4:2

- Not of works, lest any man should boast. Eph. 2:9

28. Therefore we conclude that a man is justified by faith without the deeds of the law.

- And by him all that believe are justified from all things, from which ye could not be justified by the law of Moses. Acts 13:39

- But to him that worketh not, but believeth on him that justifieth the ungodly, his faith is counted for righteousness. Rom. 4:5

- Knowing that a man is not justified by the works of the law, but by the faith of Jesus Christ, even we have believed in Jesus Christ, that we might be justified by the faith of Christ, and not by the works of the law: for by the works of the law shall no flesh be justified. Gal. 2:16

29. Is he the God of the Jews only? is he not also of the Gentiles? Yes, of the Gentiles also:

- Even us, whom he hath called, not of the Jews only, but also of the Gentiles? Rom. 9:24

- For there is no difference between the Jew and the Greek: for the same Lord over all is rich unto all that call upon him. Rom. 10:12

- That the Gentiles should be fellowheirs, and of the same body, and partakers of his promise in Christ by the gospel: Eph. 3:6

30. Seeing it is one God, which shall justify the circumcision by faith, and uncircumcision through faith.

- But we believe that through the grace of the LORD Jesus Christ we shall be saved, even as they. Acts 15:11

- And he received the sign of circumcision, a seal of the righteousness of the faith which he had yet being uncircumcised: that he might be the father of all them that believe, though they be not circumcised; that righteousness might be imputed unto them also: Rom. 4:11

- And the father of circumcision to them who are not of the circumcision only, but who also walk in the steps of that faith of our father Abraham, which he had being yet uncircumcised. Rom. 4:12

31. Do we then make void the law through faith? God forbid: yea, we establish the law.

- Think not that I am come to destroy the law, or the prophets: I am not come to destroy, but to fulfil. Matt. 5:17

- What then? shall we sin, because we are not under the law, but under grace? God forbid. Rom. 6:15

- Who gave himself for us, that he might redeem us from all iniquity, and purify unto himself a peculiar people, zealous of good works. Titus 2:14
